Quiet location with good links to centre. Owners were very friendly and helpful.
Not a lot !!
The property is in a beautiful location in Sheffield, near the antiques quarter. The property itself is an elegant building with some fine period features e.g cast-iron fire places, conservatory. The decor matches this e.g. the dining room, which, in style, has positive echoes of days gone by, with a nice garden outlook. I was phoned personally the day before arrival. This helped with orientation, and allowed me to negotiate an early drop-off of luggage. Generally the service was polite and discreet. The owner/manager has excellent manners, as has his wife. I was made to feel welcome.
Unfortunately the central heating was not working. The manager compensated that with a very effective room heater, which was excellent, day and night. I am a bit of a 'porridge and fruit' rather than 'sausage and egg' breakfast diner, which was catered for. Alas, the porridge was not very good (seemed to be a problem with its consistency: lumpy one day; runny the other). On the first morning, the fruit bowl contained some rather 'weary' fruits, though I espied and ate, with relish, a delicious pear. On the second day, the fruit bowl was excellent. The garden looked a little unloved, and with just a tiny bit of work could be a crowning glory.
Clean and friendly staff, recommended
Sal the manager was very accomadating and looked after us well as we've never been to area and spent time explaining where we could find everything we needed. Thanks Sal
When we tried to call to talk to some from hotel the day before the call centre was not very helpful they said they couldn't get through to the hotel and wouldn't provide us with the direct number and told us to call back in the morning of the day we was travelling! Not helpful at all....
