Pros: The room was spotless, the bathroom very clean and spacious, the bath was able to comfortably fit me with my long legs. The supplied toiletries were very high quality, and I was even able to use the provided razor without cutting my face! The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever had. Since we were staying as an anniversary/valentines day gift, there was a nice note and small box of chocolates which was a nice touch. The hotel was very accommodating when trying to book dinner, managing to get us into La Yeon that night after putting us on the waiting list after I had booked dinner too late. My partner took full advantage of the Shilla duty free store bonuses (10% off voucher and fast-tracking to a gold membership) which we received for staying.

Cons: Location is not the best, it is far to almost every tourist attraction. But it is situated next to the metro line so it is not that of a problem.

Pros: The room was spotless, the bathroom very clean and spacious, the bath was able to comfortably fit me with my long legs. Cons: The only small annoyance we experienced was that the blinds in our room automatically raised whenever we entered. That meant we had to find the blinds remote and manually lower them. Actually, a second annoyance is that the points for staying at the hotel have not been added to my Shilla account; there was information for registration via the app in the room, and I left my membership number (after I had registered that morning) with the front desk, but four days later I haven't received anything. I would recommend downloading the app before booking and staying so you can get the benefits. It's a little unclear as to how to redeem.

Cons: The AC was not on. They said they don’t have it on at this time of year and that I can open the window if I liked. I would have except that the street was too noisy and I couldn’t sleep so had to close it. A hotel like this should not turn off the AC at all. However they were kind enough to bring me a portable fan.

Hotel itself also has a laundry room(washing machine, dryer snd lg styler). Nearby got a lot of food stalls/restaurant and just walking distance to the wholesale shopping.

Cons: Booked for 4 people and got a room with a double and single bed. Our family was put in a 'princess room' which felt as though we should be paying by the hour. Paid for breakfast on the second day and when we arrived at 9 there was barely anything left and no staff to be found. Concierge was reluctant to book taxis for us, telling us to take the subway which was frustrating.

Cons: What the down side for me is that they only provide 1 key card for 3 pax in a room, if you want to have more key card depending on the number of the group you have to secure a deposit amount of 100K won. Same goes with the watter glass and cups they only provide for 2 people only even were 3 in the room. .

Cons: The menu of the free breakfast hardly change during our 5 day stay. On our last day, we decided to skip the free breakfast and have it in the airport instead. A variety of main dishes served during breakfast would be more impressive. We had the same main dish - hotdogs for every free breakfast during our stay.

Cons: This hotel must be re evaluated and be called Hostel, here is why? 1- A hotel must have a dining area separate than the lobby for many reasons as well as hygiene issues, so dining at the lobby is not a hotel quality measure! 2- The breakfast was a buffet, right! But only spicy kimchi and some local soup, rice and toasts were served, so if you are not Korean and you are trying to find a room in a hotel which is advertised as "included breakfast" and if you are expecting a tipical breakfast such as eggs, ham, cheese or any other american or european breakfast you may want to consider a proper hotel or eating outside which wouldn't really be the point while you reserved a room with breakfast right? 3- During this trip we stayed in different cities/countries (other hotels). On every and each one of them you are only required to simply hang a sign on your room's door handle asking for the room service when you leave the room, but in this place you must tell them in advance during your checkin whether you need the room service or not, if you do then they will ask you to leave the room during 8:00 am and 4:00 pm (16:00), wiered right? That is very uncomfortable if you want to comeback to your hotel room after lunch to refresh and go out again, or if you are tired and you want to go back to the room for any reason during this super long cleaning time. This is not a hotel quality service! 4- The closest metro exit to the hostel was quiet a stairs exercise, to be exact you must walk 3 sets of 30 stairs up to the ground floor and it becomes very uncomfortable if you carry luggages and there is no lift for this exit; even without luggages sometimes we (who are athletic) had to stop midway to take a breath. The other exists are very very far away and you must walk much further far away to be able to cross multiple streets to get there. God helps you if you forget your belongins at the hostel and remember it when you are down at the station!

Pros: As an affordable accommodation it has all the basic necessities needed. If you’re just looking for a place to rest and won’t be spending much time at the hotel, this is a good option. There’s a water dispenser on every floor which was very useful. The rooms are also quite spacious vs a hotel. The location was also superb. Especially having the airport bus stop right in front of the hotel was amazing. Trains were also a short walk from the hotel so it was easy getting around Seoul.

Cons: The service was horrible, housekeeping threw a box we kept to put in our cooking utensils and deny it, requested to make the room but only the bed and rubbish was clean up. Sheets were not changed, floor not sweep and toilet not washed. We reached the hotel early from our flight, went to put our luggage and was told that we are only able to check in at 2pm, we went to have lunch and came back at 1.45pm but they refused to allow us to check in 15mins earlier too. Reception staff was not friendly at all.

Cons: The room was hot, stuffy, dark and dirty. The bed was squeaky and uncomfortable. The kitchen was sticky, smelly and dirty. The bathroom was dirty as well.

Cons: The staff at the reception was not very welcoming at check-in. He had a blank stare the entire time. The A/C, heating temp control system did not work so it was either hot & stuffy or cold.

Cons: This was definitely not a four star hotel. There was no microwave at all. And the bathroom was horrible. The tile job in the shower was poorly done and the it had mold on the grout. I would not stay here again or recommend it to another person.

Seoul Folk Flea Market and Gyeongdong Yangnyeong Market that is famous for oriental medicine are within walking distance. Numerous shopping spots - Dongdaemun shopping center, Myeongdong, Dongdaemun Design Plaza and historical old palaces of Seoul are easily accessible. Pros: The hotel is a two minute walk going straight from exit 4 on the Sinseoldong subway exit. The staff was helpful and spoke English fluently. There is a 3pm check in that was enforced during my stay due to a booked hotel. The staff "upgraded" my room due to this.. The upgraded room was spacious with two love seats, a desk and a bed. In the room you have control of the air conditioner but it is a single unit installed in the ceiling. Which is very different from what most hotels in America have, a major ac unit with multiple vents. I think this one unit air conditioner is typical in Korea. Liked the western style bathroom even though I didn't fit the tub. The bed was very plush with a sink in effect, which was nice since the other two hotels in Korea had hard beds with light sheets. Very clean and the cleaning lady was very attentive!

Cons: I really did not have much of a compliant about the encore hotel. There was a breakfast buffet which had satisfactory food, little flavor for the price. Also note that a hour to ending the buffet food is not replaced, just gone. But this i believe is cultural too I noticed in Paris baguette, dunkin donuts and other restaurants that they made only a limited quantity for the day.
