Hotel Potmum - Hostel - Sapporo - Building
7
8.8 Excellent (1,339 reviews)

With a stay at HOTEL POTMUM - Hostel in Sapporo, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Sapporo TV Tower and Clock Tower. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and coffee, comfy room and great shower
6.7 Good
Pros: Close to train station. Clean. Very nice, trendy cafe
Cons: Rigid policies. We had told them we were arriving mid morning from an all night flight and asked for early check-in. But as with most Japanese hotels it was “Sorry, check in is at 3.00pm. You’ll just have to wait.” Small room. We knew to expect small rooms in Japan but we’re still surprised at the smallness of our first one. Where do you put your cases? Breakfasts. The nicely arranged titbits on a wooden board, with freshly baked bread. But by day 5 with little change, it was hard to get excited by it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of little extras you don’t expect from a hotel
Cons: Is a little bit out of the way but a short walk to a subway station and only 2 stops away from the main station
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The single room size is just fit. The room looks clean and with nice coffee downstairs.
Cons: Best to have full length mirror in room haha
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was more than a "Comfortable" hostel to stay. I hoped to stay 1 or 2 more nights, I would stay here again when I have chance to visit Sapporo again. - The room is clean enough. Air-conditioning worked well. I also loved the atmosphere of man-made/handy-craft here. There was almost no noise when slowly closing the slide door of the room. - Staff here was very kind and they understand the feelings of the those from outside of Hokkaido. - Amenities at the shower & hand washing space is very well prepared. Both shampoo & conditioner was the one sold from DHC brand. Clothes are also prepared without charge. So no need to bring towels, night clothes, shampoos etc. - Security & privacy can be kept well. The each floor is locked and only the guests can enter. Each bed is equipped with curtain and lockable storage to put handy-sized goods. - Individual shower booth was nice,, it was well maintained. - Location is very convenient to walk around Sapporo & easy to find as well. Just within 3~5 mins walk from the Kikusui metro station of Tozai line. Odori-park is just within 4mins by metro. It is just within 13mins from Shin-Sapporo station, and 9mins from Sapporo station. I recommend going from Shin-Sapporo rather than Sapporo if you go from New Chitose Airport. - The grocery store "MaxValu" and the convenience store is within 1~3mins walk, on the way to Kikusui station. - The neighbourhood was quiet residential area, and the riverside is close.
Cons: Nearly none, but several little points I felt. - Some of you may feel the individual dorm bed space is narrow. The number of hungers are just 2, but it was not enough to hang clothes in cold season. - In the room, there are no garbage box, we have to bring to the lounge area. - The dorm rooms are divided into "Mixed" & "Female", but it is better to have "Male" one, then we can stay more comfortably each other & with less stress, without caring too much for the other gender. - The pricing is high, considering this is without breakfast. I know the market price of hostels/hotels at Sapporo, and the services & facilities exceeded my expectations, but I felt over JPY 7000 was expensive. - The front keeps luggage before check-in and check-out without charge, but it was opened space rather than the closed room or inside the front. It's better to be covered by net I guess.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance to the subway station. There is a coffee shop and restaurant in the property. There are also convenience stores and a grocery nearby. It is clean and the bed is comfortable. Overall experience was great! I would highly recommend this place to those who are stopping by Sapporo.
Cons: The sign is not too visible from the road if coming the subway. Good thing i pinned the location in google maps so i was able to navigate it.

Pros: The owner of the house is very kind and helpful and he can speak good English. He gave me souvenir upon check-out for good luck. I love how the neighborhood seems to be so quiet and peaceful. I think the property is new and I must emphasize that the house is very clean. I was the only guest on the night I stayed so I basically seemed to have rented out the whole house. :) They also have a nice common area with free coffee, tea, and water. You can also do laundry for 100yen. The amenities are also superb (with free cleansing oil, facial wash, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap)! It is quite far though from the city center and main attractions but it was fine for me. The nearest subway is Kanjo-dori Higashi Station (around 400m away; 5-6min walk) which is just three stations from Sapporo Station. I would love to stay here again given the chance to come back to Sapporo.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Place was excellent, room that I stayed in was great with a beautiful view of the scenery of Jozankei. Main attraction was the onsen baths, enjoyed those very much. Great dinner and breakfast, service was good. Took the shuttle bus to and from Sapporo station which was really good to avoid the hassle of trying to find your own way there, although it took a bit of time trying to find the bus. Had to go to where the buses are parked to find the right one going to Hanamomiji.
Cons: Lounge smelled of smoke even though it was a no smoking area, but I didn't stay long there anyway.
7.5 Good
Pros: Strangely, reservation on booking.com was different. I booked "smoking" room, because I couldn't find "no smoking" option, but actually I have got it when I arrived. I was happy
Cons: I sent two emails to the staff before my arrival, but no response. One email about free shuttle bus, and when I asked in person, I was told that I need to book in advance and there is no way to get in. From another side, how can I book in advance if there is no response?

Cons: The concierge did not offer to take our luggage to the room. They did however come to pick up our bags before check-out.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Overall, this was a very nice stay. Reasonably-sized rooms for Japan, pleasant staff, and overall a good value. Being across the street from the Sapporo Factory mall with lots of good dining and shopping options makes up for the fact that it's not very close to downtown (plus there is literally ALWAYS a taxi immediately available). Breakfast, while not included, was still a good deal with their coupon.
Cons: It was farther from the city center than I would have liked, and I would have liked in-room coffee and not only green tea, but that is pretty minor. Our mini-fridge did not work but we managed.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location, rooms and the the people at the front desk...
Cons: The cleaning lady left the garbage she used and cleaning stuff in our room...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room was very clean. Wonderful breakfast selection.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, always friendly staff, clean, good breakfast. Especially the airconditioner was very well placed, it blew from a place where it was impossible to get a cold from the air as the airflow never hit one directly.
Cons: The window frames were very rusty in places, they should be replaced, the breakfast was above average but for rank 4 in all of japan they should offer more variety and no food that contains margarine or shortening as this is very unhealthy.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and I was really comfortable when I was here

2.0 Mediocre
Cons: Bad hotel. Aging infrastructure. Didn't let us check in till 3 in the afternoon. Had to roam around in bitter cold for the room to get ready.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location!
Cons: Location!! So easy to go anywhere!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location
Cons: Language
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely classic luxury hotel
7.9 Good
Pros: Fancy feeling.
Cons: A modern approach to an international tourist . The room is completely in Japanese, we could have some translations. TV is outdated. Fancy but feeling outdated
6.8 Good
Pros: Good location. Rooms were ok but felt like it could do with an upgrade.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s connected to the underground walkway so it was a boon not having to walk in the snow/ rain. We got connecting rooms this runs round as we are traveling with kids and the room sizes were great for the number of luggages that we have.
Cons: If only the hotel has English cable channels to keep the children entertained, instead of all jap channel. Room prices were pricey but that’s expected for the area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We ended up adding the breakfast buffet which was amazing. The young man who was at the omelette station was so friendly and talented! The underground passage to Sapporo station was very convenient. There are many cool izakayas in walking distance too!
Cons: The rooms are a bit dated, but comfortable.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: It's located in the heart of Sapporo, it's easy to get around from the location. The room came included with nice robes and slippers. If you can book with the meals I would highly recommend it. There's three excellent brunch spots to choose from with 2 being buffets.
Cons: It was probably because I was staying during the Sapporo Snow Festival that it costs more than $300 a night but it was still too rich for my blood.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good location that was walking distance to many tourist sites, restaurants, and transportation. It had several comprehensive breakfast buffets. Lots of bathroom samples and extras.
Cons: The room itself was clean but felt a bit outdated and worn, especially the bathroom, as did the hallway. Room seemed larger in photo.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is excellent, centrally located to most everything in Sapporo. Staff provided good service. There is luggage storage if you arrive before 15:00 (note that early check-in is not possible).
Cons: Mattress was too firm for me. Room smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was in a non-smoking floor.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff here were so friendly and helpful. They had a limited amount of English but together with our VERY limited Japanese we were able to communicate what we needed. Loved the onsen and the guests laundry was a bonus!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I always prefer Hokke whenever I come to Japan
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, Excellent front desk staff and worth value of money
Cons: Found toilet was smelly, may be due to improper cleaning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: • Location • Breakfast • Room Size
Cons: • Staff at reception had zero sympathy about my flight getting canceled repeatedly due to a typhoon and needing some extra time to contact airline and prepare for checkout. When I explained my situation about struggling to reach the airline & cancel my next hotel bookings, all they did was shove a calculator to my face, showing me the extra charge to stay post checkout-time & the room fee for tonight’s stay. I stayed at their hotel for a whole week, yet their attitude was abnormally robotic at the moment I needed some help. The staff at the restaurant even tried to charge me for breakfast on the last day, even though the receptionist clarified that the fee included a meal.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location, close (walkable) to Sapporo main station & Odori Park. Very clean, comfortable, nice bed, nice toiletries, friendly staff. Good price, would recommend.
Cons: We were not aware we had to return the key everyday when we went out, consequently the first day the room wasn't cleaned. However the next day the room was once again perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: (1) It's right between Sapporo station and Odori Park (5 minutes either way); (2) Very polite and helpful staff. We asked help in reserving a table at Sapporo Beer Garden, and the staff easily did this for us; (3) Good variety in breakfast choices; (4) Room size was a bit bigger than the double rooms we've previously stayed at in other hotels.
Cons: (1) Free wi-fi does not reach Basement 2, where the buffet breakfast is located; (2) Front desk staff can understand English perfectly, but they probably need a bit more practice in speaking it.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and solid facilities. Everything we needed.
Cons: Aggressive check in/out times; 3:00pm in and 10:00am out was the worst we found across 6 cities throughout Japan (or anywhere in the world). Also, they are inflexible about tattoos in the onsen, which isn’t a shocker, but be aware if you’re a soldier/artist/rebel/hipster/gangster/etc.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Close to station and other sights like clock tower, TV tower, Odori Park, Nijo Market, bus terminal to airport.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and the location was great.
Cons: The room’s temperature was difficult to control. The window looked out onto a wall about foot away so the room had no natural light and a closed-in feel.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent choice of Japanese breakfast with great view at 19 floor. Buffet breakfast at 2nd floor had excellent and widen selections of food. Excellent and close to JR train and subway train stations. Underground link way during wet and snowy weather to food alley and transportation stations. A few places of interest is very near to hotel and can take a slow walk there. Housekeeping is excellent and front counter staff are very helpful and gives useful directions and recommendations.
Cons: Nothing.
5.8 Okay
Pros: We liked the proximity to JR Sapporo Station. The buffet Breakfast is outstanding and delicious.
Cons: We were so disappointed about the condition of our room and hallways. The carpet is very worn and not very clean. Also, the bathroom had mold on floor and bath tiles. The rims around the counter and sink was unclean.....little moldy. We have stayed here several times and always had clean rooms, not worn down. Needs updating badly.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Typical Japanese rooms that's about 10 years past its prime, but still holding on nicely. Location is superb, great service, larger than average hotel, huge lobby. Overall a good choice.
Cons: Tired decor.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff, location, breakfast.
Cons: Hotel is old but well kept. They still use room keys.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, friendly receipt from front line staff.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast Buffet was very good. Hotel had underground access to JR station, JR towers, Daimaru, Stellar place and all good shopping and dining places. Room was always cleaned well and housekeeping staff were wonderful and efficient.
Cons: Front desk staff and concierge did not have the wonderful Japanese hospitality qualities found In other regions in Japan. Just a “get by” service, no warmth and authentic concern for guests. Night front desk staff were curt.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel very close to the station and main attractions. Their breakfast is gorgeous, for every taste. The hotel is linked to the JR and subway station by an underground passage, open from 9am to 10pm (if I rememder well), very helpful when the outside road is covered by snow/ice. The staff is extremely nice, we even met a receptionist who spoke to us in Italian when he realised we’re from Italy. We’d surely come back again.
7.0 Good
Cons: Kindness of staff. Size of the room. Position: very close to the station. Breakfast excellent.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very close to the train & bus station which made it easy to get around. The breakfast buffet was extensive & good variety. There was also the option of a full Japanese breakfast on another floor which was very good. The room was sufficient for our needs as a couple with all the great touches we have come to expect in Japanese accommodation. The staff were very nice & efficient. The room was warm at times but we have experienced this frequently in hotels in other countries so not so much a deal breaker at this time of the year.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Hotel Keihan Sapporo - Sapporo - Building

8.3 Excellent (4,017 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hotel Keihan Sapporo places you in the heart of Sapporo, within a 15-minute walk of Former Hokkaido Government Office Building and Odori Park. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was chosen solely for the location and my previous experience with their other hotel in Osaka. Rooms are modern and spacious as compared to those in Tokyo. View out of the room was splendid. Check in process was using a new system that does not require a member of staff to be present and check out was similar as well. Otherwise, as with most Japanese hotels, one is never far from a combini.
5.0 Okay
Pros: - location is very good. It’s near JR Sapporo station which is a good 10 minute walk in a covered path through Tsutaya and Paseo West buildings. - They have a washing machine and dryer that you can use for free. Just pay for the detergent. - breakfast selection has both western and japanese choices. If you’re staying a while though, note that they don’t change their menu. You’ll be served the same thing everyday. Still ok for me.
Cons: - room is dirty - I moved things around to make space since the room is so small and saw that everything on that table, especially behind the tv has very thick dust. Which means that they dont wipe it down regularly. I reported it to the concierge, she came up and saw it herself, took the towel in my bathroom and wiped it with it. Crazy. She left without a word. I was shocked at the behavior. Never expected that from a hotel that charges $100 a night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Near to Sapporo Station. Modest size in the triple room. Good Breakfast buffet. Has car parking space but need to make reservation and pay first.
Cons: No.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I was grateful that on-site laundry was available; however, I had a little difficulty using the dryer machine.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: 1.Very convenient location near JR in a short walk distant. 2. Great taste and good quality for breakfast. 3. Room amenities are available at lobby so you can take as required. 4. Staff are helpful.
Cons: The room size is a bit small for 2 double beds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast , good bathroom , good staff , there are conveniences.
Cons: I didn't see wash machine suggestion, such as 1) put clothes in the wash machine 2) press 1 and wait ..... like this , It must be better if there are suggestion.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent as it was within walking distance from JR Sapporo station. You can access the hotel from the station via PAESO West and through a sheltered pathway. This was really convenient especially during winter. The public bath for lady can only be accessed with the room card key as an added security.
