Pros: Excellent location on bay and near Sea World.
Cons: Horrible service. Not clean. Like a chuck-e-cheese version of a resort. No joke. Disappointing.
Good7.6
Pros: Over all it was a nice place. But it was overpriced, bcuz of rooms we stayed wasn't all that for it price, $34 parking? plus resort fee? it has no water view unless of course you pay more.
Cons: We liked the adult pool it was salt water and was very clean.
Good7.4
Pros: Beautiful atmosphere. Nice rooms.
Cons: Not private at all. Weddings, party's are going on at the beach, kind of makes it feel very uncomfortable being there while other parties are going on.
Excellent9.3
Pros: The grounds were gorgeous, the staff was very helpful and so pleasant. The rooms were spacious and had great little patios with lounging chairs. We very much enjoyed the restaurants, great ambiance and tasty! Would definitely recommend, and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Cons: The bed/pillows were a bit uncomfortable.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Loved the tropical feel the property had. Bungalows felt private. Lots to do. Beautiful landscape to walk or bike around. Decent gym and great pools.
Good6.0
Pros: beautiful sunsets
Cons: really terrible hidden $37 parking fee and the resort upkeep not great. also bring a trash can because there is not a single one on the property.
Excellent9.7
Pros: Location was great and the beach with fire pits were fun. You almost forget you're in san diego and feels like Hawaii
Cons: Beds could be better. Little hard but not terrible. $29 resort fee and a $35 parking fee. To much with the fees
Okay4.0
Cons: Bath was not clean and old and room small
Excellent8.0
Pros: Comfy beds, great views of bay, private beach jay steps away and lots to do onsite for families and kids
Cons: Parking feed
Okay4.8
Cons: We arrived at the room and the towels were dirty- used.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Amazing grounds
Cons: Lots of kids
Excellent8.2
Pros: Grounds, room was big, location
Cons: Felt like i paid a little more than it should have been, for a non water view room
Excellent8.0
Pros: Loved the decor and the fact that it was so close to the beach. Every staff member from start to finish was friendly and polite. The fish pond near the Bar and Grill was amazing. The water craft rental fees were reasonable. Landscaping was fantastic.
Cons: For the room we got, it seemed a little overpriced. We also were charged $35/night for parking on top of the $27/night resort fee which was a bit much. The executive suite we stayed in seemed like it was built in the late 80's or 90's, and was just refurnished to look new. The bed squeaked and didn't seem sturdy. Even the little details were overlooked. The cord hangers for the sattelite/cable cord were black and stuck out like a sore thumb against the white moulding. One (and possibly more) of the kitchen chairs had a sizable burn hole in it.
Okay4.0
Cons: The accommodation/rooms need to be refreshed the rooms look old and not well kept. This is not a four star resort and the price is too high.
Good6.0
Pros: Tropical, get-away feeling; fire pits; We were able to bring our dog. Beds comfy. Generally pretty quiet, restful.
Cons: Because we did not book directly with resort, we were charged $35/day parking and $27/day passport fees. Really eats into alleged savings, and charges not included in electronic booking detail or check-in description of charges. Dinner at Caveman Pizza first night was an eye-opener. Dishes piled all over any empty tables; forgot our order even though we checked in twice while waiting with 2 hungry teenagers. In interim, son used bathroom which was so gross he refused to even think about eating at resort the rest of the visit; wish I could say he has high cleanliness standards, but he doesn't, and it must have been absolutely horrible for him to even notice. Said it looked like the workers responsible just didn't give a damn -- similar to table bussing situation, shared with Barefoot. Room was not that clean: lots of dust on surfaces, floors. Water pressure on low side for shower; with harder water, need longer to lather and rinse -- not so great for drought. Neighbors smoked on outside lanai of adjacent unit which kept smoke out of their unit, and blowing into ours. Detracts from enjoyment of all. With savvy travel consumers watching Hotel Confidential, etc, hotels need to step it up on their cleanliness and maintenance routines and food service, and staff training.
Okay4.0
Pros: It's a green property good for families going to sea world and nearby attractions but nothing else nearby.
Cons: The room was dirty and seemed like it wasn't touched in weeks. As soon as we sat on the beds large clouds of dust escaped from underneath and gave my sister an asthma attack. The bath tub was peeled and needs resurfacing. The heater was broken and made a loud noise throughout the night.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Everything about it made us feel like we were on a tropical island

Pros: The setting is beautiful, very peaceful
Cons: They advertise a shuttle to take you to and from the hotel within five miles (there is no means of transportation or anything within walking distance) yet there is no shuttle and while we requested the service several times it was never an good time for staff to drive you into town.
Excellent9.0
Pros: This is a lovely hotel and I would stay there again. Wish I stayed longer to try their spa but it was a quick 2 day business trip and literally in and out. I did dine at Avant and had the crab and pear salad. Very good but not big enough for a meal alone. My CEO had the lamb and my friend had the free range chicken and they very much enjoyed it. For dessert we had the delicious chocolate trio and it was enough for 2-3 people so we shared. My CEO learned of a death in his family upon arriving to the hotel and they sent a complimentary bottle of wine and cheese to his room. I thought that was extremely generous and kind. The staff really went above and beyond at every turn to make my stay as pleasant as possible. Thank you RBI!
Cons: I stayed in the Greens on the top floor. Nice view of the golf course and fountain; however, my room was in the middle of the building and you had to walk to either end of the long building and climb stairs with luggage to get to the top floor as there is no elevator. The parking spots are very small and I had rented a standard size suv so I had to park further away from the building than desired. Overall, just small stuff.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Beautiful room and grounds, even smelled wonderful everywhere!
Cons: A few too many kids running around but hey its a family resort. I was there on business.

Pros: The staff makes you feel like you're royalty!

Pros: The staff is exceptional; kind, friendly, engaging and exceed our expectations every time! The grounds are kept pristine with the peacefulness you seek while getting away from the hustle and bustle. The ducks, parrots and koi fish make you feel like you're on a tropical island. The food, variety of things to do and the river boat are all unique touches that make us look forward to our next visit before we've even left! Not to mention best pool, Jacuzzi and spa we've ever found! If you haven't been there before, you simply MUST experience The Catamaran! Plus, centrally located to many San Diego hot spots!
Okay4.2
Pros: Close to Pacific Beach
Cons: The AC went out in our building they were not able to give us a different room. My 2 month old baby ended up with a heat rash it was terrible. Then the soap dish was covered in hair as the last customer shaved and tiny hairs were all over our soap. The humidity without an AC was unbearable. We paid way too much for what we got. Hotel did nothing about any of this.
Excellent9.4
Pros: Liked the views of the ocean and bay, staff were very friendly, loved the warm water in the pool
Excellent10.0
Pros: They have the best beds and pillows! We liked the separate bedroom and living areas with refridge and coffee maker, which was easy to use and enabled me to make my morning oatmeal. Was nice to have a view of the Bay.
Excellent8.0
Pros: Location is great right at the mission bay beach front and the oceana restaurant sits facing the mission bay beach. Staff is friendly at hotel as well as the restaurant.
Cons: Stayed at the tower. While wifi connection was excellent and convenient, the rooms need update. In particular, the air conditioner (heater/cooler) spews out bad odor.
Excellent9.7
Pros: Great location. Friendly Staff, Nice rooms.
Cons: Paid Parking. Most spa functions are at additional costs.
Excellent8.0
Pros: Great value for the money! Lots of local activities to do on the property, and wonderful accommodations throughout. It's a great place to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding for your first time! Rooms are spacious if you get the suite, and we really loved the grounds! It's a tropical paradise! Well maintained! The restaurants are pretty good, we would recommend the Sunday brunch at Oceana! Also, take advantage of the Bahia Belle cruise in the evening hours.
Cons: Unfortunately, when you make a late night request, the staff doesn't come up to your room and bring you whatever you need. Aka, we needed some late night towels and we were told to come down to the front desk (all the way from the tower rooms) and get them ourselves. This has never happened to me, especially at a "4-star" resort. In addition, I have been to many spas in my lifetime, and I felt that their spa treatment was very overpriced for the quality of massage received. Overall, we can't decide if we would come back because the positives were so great, and the negatives were so bad! We are 50/50.
Excellent10.0
Pros: The quiet room overlooking the garden. Large plastic trash bag. Good wifi. Close to Bay and Ocean.
Cons: One of our neighbors talked loudly on her phone about 3 am, with her voice carrying into the garden. We closed our patio door and it was okay.
Good7.7
Pros: The catamaran is a beautiful tropical property on Mission Bay. There is lush tropical vegetation and a distinct feeling of Hawaii. The restaurant and Bar are close to the water and provide a beautiful and relaxing setting for business or pleasure. The rooms themselves are vintage, meaning that they could use updating.
Cons: Rooms needed updating. No noise insulation from outside, although the other guests were respectful and quiet on a Monday night.
Excellent10.0
Pros: We had a great time. Daughters wedding was fabulous, every detail was handled beautifully. We had many out of town guest that were as pleased as we were!
Good7.7
Pros: Location is a 10! Great for a young family. Beach without waves on the bay just out your door and the glorious Pacific Ocean just across the street literally a 2 minute walk. Our family had a wonderful time there. My daughter won't stop talking like a parrot after being fascinated with the birds. Great restaurant also.
Cons: Just needs an updating on the rooms, hall's bathrooms.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Beds are comfy, helpful and courteous staff, great location. All was great.

Pros: The location was great, quietly located at the end of Shelter Island with good views of Point Loma, North Island, and the Pacific. I enjoyed the waterfront path and could get a good 4+ mile run in with little of it on the street.
Cons: There was some confusion as a result of a change of ownership and renovation. We needed a guest laundry facility and we were told by one employee there was a quarter operated laundry only to be told by another employee that it was closed. No microwave was available for use on the entire property. The pool never had towels available, happy hour was only inside not at the pool bar, and the gym was closed/non existent yet we were charged a "resort" fee upon checkout. Also, parking was pricey even though half the parking lot was closed to be used as a construction staging area forcing us to park a long distance from our room. For the money, stay next door at the Best Western Plus.
Good7.1
Cons: hidden resort fees
Okay4.5
Pros: The rooms are gorgeous; smaller but well appointed with top notch linens and mattresses. Views were spectacular.
Cons: No storage for clothes, ants in room, missed a day of cleaning after we were gone for 8 hours. Wouldn’t bring scissors to room. Nobody answered at room service for 5 minutes. Next time we tried room service food was brought; no cutlery. Cutlery came 25 minutes later and food was already cold. Still no soup spoon. Restaurant was average at best but still very costly. Manager did his best to alleviate issues but could only do so much. Just not the level of service expected from a resort of this cost.
Okay4.0
Cons: Construction at the hotel was not expected, and the hotel did not even try to make up for this fact. The hotel front desk was rather short with my friend who came to visit and asked if he needed to pay for parking. Even once the construction is complete, I would recommend against staying here. The way that construction was handled and the staff's attitude and lack of experience plays to the ultimate character of the management and ownership.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Relaxing with great amenities and unbelievable views from the courtyard and restaurant.
Cons: Check-in is later than normal- our room wasn't ready until after 3. We were able to drop off our luggage and wander around the beautiful island in the meantime. Parts of the hotel have a musty smell. We were able to switch to a better room for only $30 to avoid this.
Good7.7
Pros: We liked the rooms and facilities (pool, marina side beach)
Cons: They tried to put us in a room with one bed when we booked a room with two doubles, we are a family of three and I refuse to put my daughter on a roll away, when we booked for two beds. The other people checking in at the same time we were also had problems with their accommodations.
Excellent8.8
Pros: The room was very nice & the resort seemed to be very well maintained. The pool area & hot tub next to the marina were great places to hang out. We had a bay view room & the views from the room were great! In fact, we were able to watch the tall sailing ships sailing up & down the bay on Labor Day weekend.
Cons: The food & drinks were a bit pricey but we had good service & everything tasted really good. We'll definitely try the bloody mary bar next time.
Good6.8
Pros: I liked the private beach area that faced the marina. There were comfy chairs around fire pits and cabanas to enjoy. The pool area was also nice. We loved the dive in movie and the complimentary popcorn and kids drinks. The restaurant, Vessel, offered us excellent food and customer service from server Matt H.
Cons: The parking. $27 to involuntarily valet park my car. We had to walk from the lobby to our room in the 4th building with all of our luggage and our toddler, only to find that the car got parked right outside of our room. There was ample parking in the lot, so the valet stipulation made no sense.
