Red Lion Hotel Redding - Redding - Building
1
8.1 Excellent (2,076 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Red Lion Hotel Redding in Redding, you'll be in the business district, a 3-minute drive from Redding Civic Auditorium and 6 minutes from Bethel Church. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Planning an event in Redding? This hotel has facilities measuring 8731 square feet (811 square meters), including conference space. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Red Lion is a gracious, well-planned hotel in an excellent area. It is quiet and attractive with comfortable furnishings. It is laid out with a resort feel, with the pool away from the main street and in the middle of a courtyard.
Cons: There is no elevator and several areas in need of cleaning; most notably the carpet and drape lining.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Proximity to the freeway. Bar and grill in the evening and breakfast in the morning. The service was great and Hotel employee in maintenance did everything he could to find a replacement room that blew cold air.
Cons: The air didn't work in either room the whole time. Second room started blowing cold air but by 2am even though we turned it to 60 degrees it was 76 in our room and climbing with the heat blowing. There was no screens on the window or door.
1.0 Poor
Cons: TV didnt work unless remote was right near t to it. My bed and the one in room above me squeeked.maid came in at 9am woke me.
1.0 Poor
Pros: We stayed two nights the first room ok bed was comfortable the door did not lock you could push it open the slider to go out to the deck did not lock you could push it open on the ground floor so we did not feel safe. Second room was floor was wet
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It furnished a Tesla charger station for free . It could use additional electric car chargers and at increased capacity. They should specify that service in their list of amenities .
5.0 Okay
Pros: Big, roomy. Beds and pillows are nice. Nice TVs. We would still stay again.
Cons: We stay here a lot, but disappointed this time. After stating concerns about safety, we were put in a room, facing busy street, that had a sliding glass door. We got to room, curtains won't close all the way. We asked for a new room. They didn't offer to come let us in, we ran up to get key. Same issue with curtains, not as bad. We had to push a chair against them. Also, we tried calling hotel before arrival, we were running late, no one answered. When we got in room, there were only 2 towels, we tried to call for more towels, wake up call , and to ask why message light was blinking on phone, no answer. And the worst part, we found out the whole hotel is pet friendly. No rooms are guaranteed to not have had pets in them. I love pets, but prefer a room where none have been. That being said, the room was clean, no pet smell, and very roomy. And great TVs.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Breakfast was not provided without proper explanation. I paid for a premier 2-queen size bed room. The picture on the website shows hardwood floor but we got regular 2-queen bedroom with carpet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and customer service
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: TV didn't work. Eventually we were moved. No maid service unless front desk was called. By all appearances I would predict this motel will be in bankruptcy within the next 6 months.
1.0 Poor
Pros: I got sick from the bad smell in room and throughout facility. Whatever they use to clean is not good. I was told they use a generic industrial cleaner. I was going to check in for another night but after 45min after walking into my corridor getting in room I literally vomited & left. 1.they were denying me entrance into my room because I didn't pay full amount? $110 was charged night before. 2. They said I had no room there even with my confirmation & after a 20hr drive I got there at 9am to get to my room at 10am mind you check out is 11am. 3.Dust in restroom on lights was so thick it was black. 4.i called to let them know of smell and cleanliness they said oh and I was hung up on, with no option to change room. 5.the clencher of it all I was in line to check in with no one else behind me and eventually a young girl was behind me and instead of calling me to counter they look behind me and call her over to do what ever it was she needed. I was treated horrible and was told my hotel maybe on the not so good side of town instead of that location, because that location on hilltop was better of the two. I never say this yet I for the first time in my life I felt what discrimination is. I was going to stay 6 days, needless to say I'd never do so unless they redeemed themselves and invited me for a stay in a room with no carpet.
Cons: Smell and service. I was there less then 45 min and checked out
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location wasn’t too bad from where we had to go.
Cons: Did not get much sleep! Room was a little hot and when I turned down the temperature, the AC/fan turned on and it was super LOUD and it stayed on all night! Maybe it was a old AC/fan system but I was not happy.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was friendly and even though it is a little outdated it was clean and comfortable the onsite restaurant and bar was a plus
Cons: Little out dated

5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was amazing. They went over and above to help us with special needs and the problem with the light outside.
Cons: Light flashing all night in our room all night, staff worked hard to fix the situation the next night. Don't know how you can call under cooked pancakes breakfast. You advertise waffles and they had changed machines to pancakes. They were nasty. We ate out the second morning.
4.0 Okay
Pros: very minimal
Cons: Bed was very uncomfortable
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good value. The motel and the room were very clean and well-maintained. The reception staff were competent, interested and helpful. Breakfast was ordinary, but what one would expect for the price. The motel is located very near the I-5 interchange, but is in a quiet area that has mainly service establishments and is somewhat rural.

Cons: They gave my reserved room away. When I arrived at 8pm, my 2 queen bed reservation became a 1 queen bed per their computer although I called/confirmed 4 days prior. I showed them my reservation but all they could offer was 2 double beds at same price
9.0 Excellent

Cons: Breakfast was very limited, but probably because I came late
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was friendly,helpful,nice
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent

Cons: The cable didn't work, breakfast was canceled but online said it was provided. Staff was new so couldn't help with anything. We stay at a lot of best western this was the worst. The ved was hard not comfortable. Room 123. Keys didn't work after we left the hotel.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was decent. Clean enough. A/c worked.
Cons: Parking lot is ridiculously tight. Narrowest spaces I have ever seen in a similar building. Full size pickup had ZERO room between the lines. And there were MANY of them parked there. I would not stay here again because of the parking lot.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very new. Beds were comfy,
Cons: No shower chair or recliner in handicapped room
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed was very cozy. Room was nice. Free Showtime on demand option was nice. Pretty location.
Cons: My only major complaint is pretty major & makes me not want to stay there again. The perfume smell that I was told is the “signature Sheraton scent” was AWFUL! I’m sensitive to smells & this smell was everywhere. The only thing that saved me was the ability to crack a window in my room & then keep the heater from turning on so that it didn’t keep piping into my room. Many people have smell sensitivities, you should really tone it WAY down & keep it out of the guest rooms. My friend isn’t smell sensitive & she kept sneezing. If the bed wasn’t so comfortable I would have asked for my money back & left. It’s really bad & complete overkill for your guests & your staff. I was told it was a corporate thing & there was no one to complain to, but I really hope that is not the case. You should definitely reconsider the policy to flood your hotels with overwhelming fragrance. People with scent sensitivities, allergies & asthma will definitely suffer. It absolutely impacted my guest experience, which would have likely been 100% positive if it wasn’t for that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pet friendly and has great atmosphere!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and service. Pet charge is steep at $75, but worth it for the other amenities of hotel.
Cons: Pet charge at $75 is more than most hotels.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was great
Cons: I don’t like dark hallways. Feels creepy to me!
7.1 Good
Pros: The facility is older and could use some updates. The room was large, but the mattress needs to be replaced. The little balcony with sliding glass door was nice. I discovered two of the plugs in the bathroom did not work my first morning there, but I had already unpacked and improvised since I was traveling alone. It would have been a bigger issue had my husband been with me. The housekeeping staff and front desk staff were attentive and friendly. The breakfast was nothing to rave about.

Pros: Real full hot breakfast and amazing friendly staff. Big room.
Cons: Soundproofing is poor compared to other hotels. Could hear some toddlers having a party at 3am like they were inside my own room (next door) and a giant was stomping above my head at 5am when I really needed sleep. They did bring earplugs very quickly!

Pros: Easy Access, great staff, Pete’s coffee in room, nice restaurant on site, very comfortable with lots of pillows.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We selected this hotel based on the ideal location as well as our previous experiences in many Best Westerns. In spite of our disappointment with the room, the breakfast was GREAT.
Cons: Our room, which was described to us as an upgrade to a "deluxe" room, was in an old section of the hotel. If this was 'deluxe' I can't imagine what a standard room would be like. In any case, it was not up to the standard we have come to expect of Best Westerns.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the breakfast and pool!
Cons: The rooms are really small.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel was nice and clean. It had a very nice restaurant on the premises.
Cons: #1: I was put in a handicapped room. It had a shower and armoire that were extremely awkward for anyone to use who was not 4 feet tall. #2: I needed a good night's sleep. I was put near 2 parties. One that had a door open most of the night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice
Cons: I specifically asked for a room with a microwave. There was not one in room and i had to carry food from very back of hotel to use microwave in lobby ( equivalent to just about a block). Very inconvenient. Food wasnt hot anymore by the time i got back to

Pros: The hotel was great the staff was so professional and so friendly. The restaurant was amazing. We ate dinner and the steak sandwich and the pasta dishes were really good. We also had breakfast which was outstanding for a hotel breakfast. Both servers we had were so much fun and made the meals even better. We had a room with a view of the river and it was lovely. I will definitely be staying there next time I drive to Oregon.

Pros: Staff was very kind and helpful. Rooms and building a bit out of date but totally functional. Locks all functioned, so I felt safe. We slept thru the breakfast so no comment on that! Stayed just one night when passing thru.

7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was nice.
Cons: Mattress was uncomfortable.
1.0 Poor
Pros: pretty clean
Cons: Someone broke into my room after I closed the door and left room for a short while, and credit card and debit were stolen from the wallet, the theft apparently swiped the magnetic card into room after seeing me leaving. I found it next day and $5000 lost.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Not much
Cons: It was a motel that was trying to be something it is not. They charged way too much for a room with two uncomfortable double beds. The room had a dingy, old, full sized, refrigerator, a microwave, a bathroom sink, and a closet/pole shoved into an "L" shaped alcove. Thankfully, the toilet and shower (that were right next to this kitchenette closet) had a door to separate them from the rest! FUNKY!
1.0 Poor
Cons: Dirty facility. Cut fingernail clippings next to bed, dusty and dirty. Last stay ever at any Travelodge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: nice breakfast and the staff was friendly and veryhelpful
Cons: the parking was a little tight
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness of staff. Second best: quality of breakfast.
6.0 Good
Pros: The team members were helpful and pleasant. Everything seemed to have been newly remodeled.
Cons: Nothing much near the hotel in walking distance. The sink faucet needs to be adjusted so the cold water works. Just hot water comes out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff
Cons: The water temperature was weird. It was hard to find a good water temperature

Cons: The room was a little bit loud due to the traffic noise.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Minimal but totally adequate choices.
4.8 Okay
Cons: WORST WORST WORST EXPERIENCE EVER ... be fore i book in this place i read the reviews and looked good while some of the reviews were pointing about the dangerous location. First night i park my car right in front of my room. Next day my car was broken into , a lot of things got stolen. If u plan to go to this horrible hotel plan to go without car or plan to let your car without any valuable (everything in my car was hidden). The worst part is when i went complain in the morning the owner was acting like something very normal and he was saying that it s more common in the other hotel (that s not professional to promote your bad hotel by saying bullshit about the others) While i was in redding to go see the nature the water falls i did not want waste my time calling 911 and doing the police report that will make me waste a lot of time. Guys just to let you know in case something wrong will happen this place they will not care about you and they will not stand by your side. A lot of drug users walk by the hotel 24/7 . I was going to the pool at 4pm i found 2 people using drugs next to the ice machine and using the same ice as the costumer of the hotel. Nobody care during the day as during the night . They only care for the money you gonna spend you get stolen you are unhappy it is not there business. I will go back to Redding for sure but THUNDERBIRD never more.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were excellent and very helpful.
5.0 Okay

The noise level here is outrageous you cannot sleep past 5 a.m.

7.7 Good
Pros: Stayed here before, it's ok, not a five star hotel, but it's good enough. Location is nice, it's downtown, close to food and shopping.
Cons: Can get a bit noisy with the traffic. Parking is not ideal, too small, not enough spaces.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Cheap, cheap, cheap. Great location. Food all around. Center of town.
Cons: Center of town comes with people. All night long on the weekends. Dinner and drinks right next store and everyone parking in the lodges spots. Had to park on the street over a block away. Rooms were redone not too long ago but the work was very poorly done and wearing. Bed was not the greatest. Cheap though.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I love the wood ceilings in this motel a cabin away from home
Cons: Always feel alittle rushed checking out
5.1 Okay
Pros: Newer shower, flat screens, still some old charm.
Cons: If they stick you in the 300 building, it shares a parking lot with a Mexican restaurant who's dumpster's are in the alley right behind you. On the night we stayed, the trash company came to pick them up and drop them a few times starting at 5am. Would've been nice to have been told that this might have been a possibility instead of being jolted like there was a battering ram coming through the wall. You can hear big rigs moving through the area all night.

Pros: I was at the hotel the second night of the Carr fire. The power went out and the manager was exceptionally professional and courteous under very stressful circumstances. He assured us the power would be back on in an hour and it was. Very pleasant stay.
Cons: Nope

Pros: The warm and gracious staff
Cons: The wretched tv in the breakfast room. All hotels seem to do this, not just here. Ugh.

Pros: The check-in and check-out staff we're very pleasant. We arrived during the terrible fire season in Redding, CA . This property accommodated many of the fire and rescue professionals. Nice breakfast; clean dining area.
Cons: Our Rm had small, but irritating maintenance issues; headboard detached from wall, desk chair unusable wedged under the desk, toilet seat did not stay in the upright position, TV turned off every 10 automatically. Mgr was ON IT right away.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The woman who greeted us at the front desk was extremely warm and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable and well-supplied.
Cons: After drinking my coffee, there were large flakes of dried coffee on the bottom of my cup. Ick. I approached one of the kitchen staff, showed her the stuff in my cup and told her they might want to clean the carafes. She said 'sorry' and walked away...

Cons: The bed was not very comfortable compared to other hamptons I’ve stayed in
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff and breakfast were great! Liked the set up with two bedrooms.
Cons: Tile flooring everywhere. The metal bed frame scraped over tile every time the bed moved. Bed was marginally comfortable. Maybe put the beds on a rug.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great the staff was so professional and so friendly. The restaurant was amazing. We ate dinner and the steak sandwich and the pasta dishes were really good. We also had breakfast which was outstanding for a hotel breakfast. Both servers we had were so much fun and made the meals even better. We had a room with a view of the river and it was lovely. I will definitely be staying there next time I drive to Oregon.
