The location was right in the middle of the city. It was very near to the biggest and best mall on the island. Furthermore, it was in the center which made it very easy to go to all the places and attractions in very reasonable time. The staff of the hostel were extremely nice, helpful and friendly. The place is also very spacious and special. It had a mix of modern design with a few touches of ancient buildings such as the stairs and the window arches. I really enjoyed my stay there.
The breakfast was a bit too basic and not serving healthier options such as fruit, yoghurt or oats. But overall it was satisfactory.
Very poorly equipped kitchen and dirty furniture.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the building is really beautiful.
Everything was fine, except for the toilet that was a little bit dirty.
Recently renovated so all the furniture is fresh and new. Bathroom facilities look good; excellent showers. Free breakfast is nothing speical but should fill you up. It is a few minutes walk from a large shopping centre, which has a large Continente hypermarket, and close enough that you could walk to the airport if you are travelling light (probably around 45 minutes)
The kitchen is way too small for a hostel of this size, while the dining room kitchen sits unused. The dining room should be opened up to guests, like PJA Santa Maria, for example. The room could get quite stuffy at night even with all windows open - likely not a huge issue though outside of the few really hot days in summer
With a stay at PJA - Ponta Delgada Youth Hostel, you'll be centrally located in Ponta Delgada, within a 15-minute drive of Ponta Delgada Harbour and Milicias Ocean Beach. Featured amenities include a computer station, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
