Pros: Beautiful property with historical grandeur. Extremely comfortable room. Bathroom was dated, but exquisitely so. Competent personable staff that wasn’t intrusive or slithery as I’ve encountered elsewhere in the region. Unfortunately my stay was short and busy and I did not have time to enjoy all the facilities but this hotel has authentic classic style as opposed to the newer boutique hotels with superficial ‘bling’.

The room was well appointed and well finished with a great shower. The AC worked really well, and the bed was quite comfortable. However, the highlight was definitely the rooftop pool! It was beautifully and uniquely designed and really made me feel like I was on a posh vacation. The restaurant had incredibly affordable specials, including a 3 canapé plate + cocktail for $6.95 USD!1

Cons: The hotel is located in a street where there is a market of fresh products daily (meat, fish, vegetables...). At tenperatures above 30 degrees the smell is unbearable, also the noise. Despite I asked when I did the booking for a room in an upper floor, upon arrival they allocate a room in the lowest floor (although there were many rooms empty as I saw the keys and the bookings). I could not use the balkon I was paying for not for a single minute. Breakfast is very basic and often products are not available. Very expensive hotel for what it offers, and in Cambodia. Only 1 elevator for 11 floors (11 rooms per floor...).

The staff were very helpful in storing our bags the following day, and tag these and provide you with a reference ticket for security as well, which was well managed. Places to eat, and the market are all a stones through away, and transport comes to the door.

Balcony is very small small, but nice to have, just about big enough to sit outside on - with two small chairs and a table (though no view of anything except the building immediately adjacent).
Cons: Decor feels a little dingy. Carpets, in particular, are an odd choice: drab, and impossible to keep properly clean (especially in the rainy season!); the ones on stairs and corridors are looking very tired now, and the ones in the rooms carry a strong musty smell. Pillows are far too large and firm - unusable (unless you want chronic neck ache in the morning). Extras - mini-bar items, breakfast - rather expensive for Cambodia (many hotels here charge the same as cheap local restaurants or 7/11 stores, or not much more; but at this place, it's at least double). Pool is a bit small, and very noisy (the street out front is also very noisy; so, rooms at the rear or side of the hotel are probably to be preferred). Not a great cable TV package (none of the Malaysian Astro sports channels, which are much better than Fox for things like football and motorsport; only one movie channel; no NatGeo People or Food Channel - which are often available here). Wi-fi was a bit slow, and dropped out fairly often; particularly galling for me, as I had a lot of work to do online during my stay. I tried to use the computer in the common area downstairs instead, but that was completely dysfunctional (no Internet, dodgy keyboard, inoperative mouse). Central A/C is effective, but rather too noisy to leave on overnight (luckily, I didn't really need it). Reception staff are young, and do not seem well-trained or supervised (no sign of anyone 'senior' in charge); most do not speak particularly good English. And the desk was often left completely unmanned - which does not inspire confidence in the place's security. (A security guard sat out front never pays any attention to people entering or leaving, at least not during the daytime.) Apart from the location, this hotel is pretty unremarkable. And I know lots of similar or better places in Phnom Penh that only charge 25-30 dollars a night (especially now, in 'off season') rather than 40.

Cons: It started off badly when the staff forgot to send a car to pick us up from the airport, even though we'd spoken to them the day before. The carpets throughout were stained and dirty, and didn't seem to be cleaned during our 3 day stay. The bathroom sink leaked, the towels had other people's hair in them, and the swimming pool was miniscule! The breakfast was very basic. Reception wanted to charge 25 USD to go to the Killing Fields, S21 and back - we did it ourselves for half that, just use the grab app to hire a tuk tuk. We wouldn't go back.

Pros: This was the 2nd time staying at the hotel as the 1st stay was great. Rooms are large, clean and spacious. The buffet breakfast is amazing and was the main reason for returning. Location is also good with many local bars and restaurants close by. Only a short tuk tuk to the waterfront. Staff are also great.

Cons: The hotel was in the middle of renovations on our 2nd stay, and the pool was completely demolished and resembled a building site. One of the reasons we returned was due to the pool, and felt very let down as their was no mention of this change online. The breakfast area was also open to the elements as there was a missing wall, which meant the aircon wasn't sufficient, and we sweated our way through breakfast. There were notices up apologising for the building work, but had we know this before we would have not stayed here again. Once this is completed, am sure the place will be as great as it was during our st visit.

Cons: This hotel is NOT 4 star. When travelling, I always lock my passport in the hotel safe; the safe had been removed (see photo of cupboard). It took 4 requests to finally get one installed as advertised. It also advertised it had a pool; it was drained the day we arrived. The next day, workers were knocking it down; demolition work with sledgehammers/jackhammers all day every day (see photos!) which very much disturbed our stay. The dining room was right next to the pool, so we couldn't even have a conversation over the noise. I chose this hotel BECAUSE it had a pool (Cambodia is currently experiencing its hottest summer). I did talk to the staff (their response was to shrug their shoulders and say "very sorry") and I e-mailed the main office 3 times with absolutely no response. There was a hotel 250m away that, if you spent $5 with them (meal or drinks), they let you use their pool for free; we took advantage of this almost every day. Our room was large but poorly lit. After sun-down, with every light on, it was still dim. We got one rainy day (which was a nice relief), though water started dripping out of the light sockets in the bathroom. The bath was nice but hot water was VERY temperamental; sometimes the hot water would cut out or worse, the cold would cut out and you'd get scalding hot water for a few minutes before it kicked back in (you could feel the difference in the pressure). There was no mini-bar in our room and the provided fridge was tiny. Our balcony was large, which was nice to sit out there after a long hot day out, though (check out the photos) every plant out there was dead. The bed was comfortable enough, the breakfast was OK(ish! a bit bland) the TVs are old with no USB and we found used tissues in one of the drawers. When we did have our room made up, room service regularly forgot to restock the tea/coffee and soap. Do not stay at this hotel if you want to enjoy your trip.

Cons: The hotel is under renovation, we couldn't use the pool. The noise started in the morning, we couldn't possibly sleep with that. We booked 2 months ahead, and the renovation started around 2 weeks ago, the hotel could have told us about the renovation, but of course they didn't. No other compensation or apology in person at all, just a notice pasted inside the lift. The front desk wasn't that friendly either. The location is also far from the central station. Room wasn't clean. Not worth the money at all.

Cons: A hotel that values its guests and cares about their experience would close while having renovations. This one clearly only cares about profits and not about the guests. We booked this hotel based on what we read on booking.com, thinking there was a pool. Upon checking in, we were told about current constructions, meaning there is no pool. We were disappointed as we clearly picked this hotel for this feature. Asked for a discounted price but we were told the price is already discounted. However, on booking.com, the price clearly shows that the facilities include the pool. We accepted this and moved on. Until next day, when we were woken up at 7:30 am by the insane noise of drilling right above our room. Anyone who thinks I’m exaggerating, I have recordings of the unbearable noise. We complained, but the staff were unable to do anything. When we asked to talk to the manager, they couldn’t reach him. After waiting half an hour, we got an email address. It was the worst experience in any hotel we ever stayed at. Guests go to hotels to rest, and have a good holiday, which is absolutely impossible at this place while the renovations are ongoing. Drilling happened for hours during the whole day, between 4-6 pm on our first day and 7:30-9:30 on our second day. The management of the hotel should realise that especially the rooms in close proximity of the current works should not be given to any guests. In the current state, as works are on the 6th floor, any room on the 5th floor is unbearable!

Cons: Lift didn't work; I got trapped. Long way wolking up the stairs. Strict check-out time policy. Not always attentive service: A half eaten meal infront of my neighbour's room was taken away only after more than 24 hours.

Cons: We came a bit earlier so they couldn't check us in. At the mean time we decided to have some food in their restaurant on the rooftop. Food was really not good. Tasteless, lack of presentation and the waitress barely knew what she was doing. When it was time for us to check in i went into our room and found one of staff members still cleaning the room. The toilet was blocked so we had to go downstairs to the lobby to use the public toilet. Room didn't have any views as through the window we could only see the wall. Overall it was quite dark and dated hotel.
