The location was about all I enjoyed
Overpriced. Spent about $1000 for three nights including a joke of a resort fee (this ain’t no resort!). My room was so small you could barely get around the bed. No chair, just the bed and a small dresser with a broken bottom drawer. A tiny fridge that you had to press on every 8 hours if you wanted “cold.” They serve a continental breakfast outside that was never replenished unless you asked - for fruit, yoghurt, even bowls! The bagels were stale - seemed like day-old Costco stuff. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
I would have gladly swept our unit's balcony. Maybe provide a broom & dustpan.
Great location and generally the rooms and layout of the property were nice.
Very loud in-wall air-conditioning units that made it hard to sleep. Breakfast buffet that was not adequately restocked (we had to ask them to each morning); Rooms were smallish and no frills -- not on par with the $300+ room rate compared to other options in Palm Springs. Charged an additional $16 resort fee with no real resort amenities.
Receptionist on the day 5 star knew area well gave excellent recommendation
The staff were really friendly and helpful, the happy hour was a nice touch as was the lovely fire pit outside, the continental breakfast served outside was nice and the room was clean and comfortable.
The pool and hot tubs were not super clean
Newly renovated Modernist gem, designed by architect Albert Frey in 1935, the Movie Colony Hotel is a seamless blend of vintage Hollywood style, with a modern, South Beach vibe. Private, second-story terraces afford views of the sprawling San Jacinto Mountains, with glimpses of the busy Palm Springs skyline steps away. Stroll downtown to browse the shops and art galleries of the Design District, and return for an evening dip in the pool. Overlooking the Movie Colony of Old-Hollywood stars like Dinah Shore, the hotel's minimalist style merges man-made materials with the natural landscape, making it the embodiment of Desert Modernism.
