Excellent position. Interesting old building. Good breakfast.
It was impossible to get the shower to run at a comfortable temperature. Scalding or cold seemed to be the only options.
Breakfast in the Turl Street cafe was excellent, and being in such close proximity to the hotel there was no inconvenience in it not actually being on site. The location in the centre of Oxford could not have been bettered.
En-suite facilities in all rooms would be preferable, but presumably is not possible due to the age and nature of the building. The cost seemed high compared with accommodation I have stayed in in other places, but I would guess that Oxford is quite an expensive city anyway.
The property is a wonderful, quirky little town house in a great location. It is very welcoming although there are obviously limitations to how ‘guest friendly’ an old town house can be. We loved the narrow corridors, sloping floors and ceilings and cosy feel to the little (well stocked) sitting room. Our room was at the back of the property and was extremely quiet and peaceful. The staff were very friendly. Under the heading of ‘quirky’, it is probably worth noting that when we arrived and rang the door bell there was no answer but there was a sign in the window directing us to the little restaurant around the corner (where breakfast is available for guests). From here the check in process was quick and easy. Breakfast was very nice, especially the coffee, setting you up for a day of exploring. The Tower House is positioned so close to the centre of town that you can even come back in the middle of the day for a a quick cup of tea or coffee on the sitting room. We look forward to returning soon.
Breakfast was lovely - in local café a few steps away where food and coffee were delicious. I eat a vegan diet and there was great provision for this. Location was also lovely, so central. I arrived before check-in time and the hosts let me leave my bag which was a big help.
I had a room with a shared bathroom as this was the only one left, so my choice, and it worked out Ok. I was on my own and so the room was adequate size, although if we had been two, it would have been too small, even thought it was a double room. The shower, if I'm being picky was a bit idiosyncratic and was either very hot or cold so not great. But that's being picky. Overall it was a great place to stay and great location, very central and near Park and Ride bus-stop.
Fantastic stay. Lovely comfortable beds and great location. Lovely breakfast.
WiFi could have been better but as we were right up top it was to be expected.
