If you dont mind to share the toilet and bathroom with others . Then it will be fine for you. They provide earplug for you if you are sensitive to sound . Its quite quiet till 7am when people start to wake up and go to work. The staff were really friendly and just asked them for what you need .
toilet on the same floor. if you want to have shower , you have to go to the 1/F. a bit embarassing when you meet someone in elevator after shower XD
This is a really great value for the price. It's a step up from a capsule hotel and I found the location convenient. It's maybe 200m from Dobutsen-mae station exit 4. The station is on the red Midosuji line and the brown Sakaisuji line, one stop from Tennoji station. The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk to the Shinsekai nightlife area, which has lots of cheap kushikatsu food and a good atmosphere to hang out with friends or meet new people. There is a convenient (24h) currency exchange machine located in the Maruhan pachinco & slots building at Dobutsen-mae exit 5, and Family Mart conbinis and a Daiso near the Maruhan. You have your own room with a metal key lock (no doorpads or keycards here) and your choice of bed. I found the Japanese style single room (tatami and futon) mostly comfortable although I wish the futon was thicker or that I had asked for an extra futon or comforter on which to lay. There was just enough space for me to lay out my futon and keep my suitcase open on the floor, with a bit of extra room to sit and organize my belongings. I know that bunk rooms are available for small groups but I do not know their size. The room has its own air conditioning unit, a dimmable light, small table, and a small refrigerator and TV. You share a gender separated bathroom, shower stalls (open 24h), and gender separated Japanese style bath/sauna (open for long and pretty convenient hours, something like 2pm-2am and 6am-11am). The women's spa is behind a door with an electronic lock. The hotel provides the code to female guests at check in time. The spa had six sitting wash areas and a standing shower area, one large hot pool, and a sauna (~70° C). The spa facilities looked old but relatively clean. The hotel provided toiletry basics (toothbrush and toothpaste, robe, towel and hand towel, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, hair dryer, facial tissues) as well as a few extras free to female guests (face wash and lotion, essence, cream, etc).
These are things outside the hotel's control - noisy neighbors in the morning. The walls are really really thin. Generally that's not a problem because the guests are considerate, but on a Saturday morning a young boy was wide awake and talking as he went back and forth between his room and the bathroom. I also heard a construction worker working with loud tools right next to my window on a Friday morning around 9am. I heard some construction work farther away on Thursday evening 11pm but it was on the opposite side of the building from my room so it didn't bother me. Don't book this hotel for the view, as the back side over looks rooftops and at the time of this review (August 2019) there were construction catwalks covering that side of the hotel building.
Great location, near train station, convenient stores and restaurants.
The room is too small to open a medium suitcase. We live in a non-smoking room, but I still smelled smoking at night.
Good location. Surprisingly quiet even though walls are thin; I didn't need to use earplugs (my room was on the top floor). Rooms are a little dated but clean. Free amenities include towels, toothbrush, slippers and a bathrobe. Free coffee in the lobby. Friendly staff. Overall, good value for money.
WIFI was fast enough but connection drops weren't uncommon. Connecting my phone to the WIFI worked only 1 out of 10 times for some reason. On one day the bathrooms on all floors were closed for about 4-5 hours without any information on the duration (a note on the door would've been nice). The bathroom on my floor could really need some restoration.
