Fantastic location at the base of Nagasaka Gondola, clean facilities and friendly staff. Breakfast was also great with alternating western and Japanese food.
Nothing to dislike!
Breakfast was cold & could only have at 7.30. Should be digging steps in the snow on the side of the building as it got very icy & many guests slipped.
I loved the convenience of the location and the friendliness of the staff especially Mammon.
No comfortable chairs anywhere.
Location right beside Nagasaka gondola, the breakfast.
Nobody in reception. Doesn't really provide necessary bathing facilities for the number of guests staying. Onsen only open 1600-2200 daily. Bedding (on tatami) very thin - felt the hard floor all night. Nothing is offered, you have to ask for everything. Limited info in rooms about basics e.g. using the heater.
Room was a reasonable size for three people. Close to Gondala for snow access maybe three minute walk but a good 10 min walk uphill from village which can be tricky in snow.
There is no heating in common areas, hotel felt cold. The reception desk is not manned at all times. Hot breakfast (western style) served promptly at 7.30am which meant late comers had cold eggs and sausage!
With a stay at Ryokan Kawahiro in Nozawaonsen, you'll be a 3-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort and 7 minutes by foot from House of Oborozukiyo. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
