We had an amazing stay at Little Forest Inn. It was easy to get around, the room nice, clean and with a beautiful view of Chuzenji Lake, the hosts were very kind and eager to help us any way they could(finding the right bus, recommending onsen and hikes in Okunikko etc.) Great Value for money and just a very lovely experience. Hope to Come back ☺️
The room is clean and facing the lake. The landlady is nice and helpful，and she speaks Chinese .
It’s hard to find the way to the hotel, although it ‘s only a few minutes walk from the bus stop. And the bed was killing me.
Good location with views of the lake and as a starting point for hikes (starting by foot or by bus). Practical information about facilities in the area (where and what times to get breakfast and groceries) and hikes were provided when checking in.
Like we could have known from earlier reviews, the beds were not comfortable. The walls are thin so you can hear the noise around you (but, earplugs are provided if you need them). The town is very quiet and looks a bit decayed and desolate.
Hospitality, facility, comfort
Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Checked in late at night so didn't notice how close the inn was to Lake Chuzenji so I was really surprised when I woke up in the morning to see the beautiful view of the lake from the room. The staff was lovely too. Wished I could have stayed a little bit longer.
Nothing I didn't like. Just that it was a little difficult to spot the name of the inn at night. Visited Nikko during the autumn so the sun sets pretty early. At 6pm, it was really dark. No one in the streets and had to turn the torch on my phone to find my way. So for those checking in late, it may be difficult to spot the name of the inn and the door may be closed but just ring the doorbell and someone will be there for you to check in.
