This is an amazing hotel with the friendliest staff. The food was sensational. The hot tub on the balcony was very relaxing with nice views. Thank you.
Me and my wife wished to experience a ryokan and onsen, and Kanaya proved to be the perfect choice. It was easy to reach, a 2 hour train ride from Tokyo, from Asakusa station using Tobu line (our hotel in Tokyo was near Asakusa so it fit perfectly). Everything about our stay was a unique and wonderful experience, from the yukatas and futons and all the way to the private onsen on our room’s balcony and the multi course dinner. The room was huge, equipped with everything you would need. We slept on futons, which were laid out for us by the staff while we were out for dinner. They were very comfortable. The onsen (bath with spring water) on the balcony was fabulous and the view was great. It snowed while we were there so that added to the experience. The bath is made with cider wood and it is pretty big, it will fit two persons without any issues. The multi course dinner was way too much food for us. The food itself was absolutely delicious, but there was so much. The drink menu is a must try, delicious sake. We had a host that served us the dinner in a private room in the hotel’s restaurant. I feel sad I don’t remember his name, I would have liked to mention him. He was a great host, very joyful and worked hard to take good care of us and make our dinner a great experience. The hotel’s staff was very professional and took good care of us. Very kind, they gave us a lift to the train station with the hotel’s car, because the weather was not that good.
The food is excellent
Exceptional food. Nice river view from balcony. relax lounge with free-flow drinks. Good onsen with no crowd.
No skin care lotions in the onsen. Kinda pricey, but worth it.
