Location, staff were nice
We weren’t told at booking that work was being carried out, there was no hot water for a shower in the morning, a ridiculously small elevator, no restaurant or bar.
Loved everything about it. Stayed in the junior suite. Would stay there over and over again.
The room on the second night was fully air conditioned and spacious. The location was exceptional. The staff were extremely friendly andf understanding. Though off site the car parking facilities were inexpensive and secure. The decor was fantastic.
After booking through booking.com I received a notice stating that the restaurant would not be available but reduced rate restaurants were in the vicinity. This was not a big concern for me except that it was not highlighted before payment was made. On arrival our room was smaller than expected and had no air conditioning. A fan was supplied but the weather was unusually hot and offered little in the way of a cool nights sleep. We were informed that this was down to the refurbishment of the hotel. No indication of hotel refurbsihment other than the statement regarding the restaurant "not being available" was made at point of booking. No alternative room with AC was available that evening. On our second nights stay we were offered a much better air conditioned room as was hoped for initially. This room was in all respects superior except that the TV was unable to gain a signal and the fixed showerhead was leaking water down the shower wall therefore reducing the effectiveness of this shower and the overall shower experience. I cannot applaud the staff more as they tried to provide a superior service, it was the hotel itself through its mid-refurbishment state that was dissapointing. I am hoping that the Grey Street Hotel is now up and running with all functionality but at the time of our stay this was not the case.
The room smelled of cigarettes - it was late at night and noisy outside:
Bathroom was really high class
Weird smell possibly due to building work
