Pros. The view from the rooms on the 2nd floor was outstanding—a river with a mountain behind it. The room was comfortable and well-maintained. The onsen was a lovely wooden bath inside with a larger outdoor one that was also nice (though the view now is not the uninhibited view of the river and mountain as a privacy wall has been constructed around the onsen). The proprietor was very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English.
Cons. The onsen was not as hot as I would wish (the outdoor one was downright cold one night), but I think it's heated on a schedule and I simply wasn't there at the right time. There are cats that roam the downstairs, so beware those who have allergies.
