We enjoyed the friendly and ever obliging staff. Nothing was too much for them. They were eager to engage in conversation even though they had little English and we have even less Japanese. The room was quite large for a ryokan and was well appointed. The ryokan was located in a quiet part of Matsumoto with a bus stop at the door. There are plenty of home style eateries nearby but you have to explore alleys and stairs to find them. We had a car and on-site parking was supplied. We found Matsumoto to be a delight and five days was hardly enough to see the sites at leisure. The Japanese Alps surround the city and walks abound.
We did not have wifi in the room but it was supplied in the foyer free of charge. At first experience the building appeared to be somewhat older modern but as time passed over our five day stay we grew to appreciate the original beauty of the place and enjoyed the stay.
Nice staff and well maintained hot spring bath
