The atmosphere also great location!
Loved the staff and amazing attitude to hard graft with a smile. Lunchtime and evening entertainment was excellent with top quality acts. Food was very good. Drinks could not have been any cheaper. News Years Eve was simply amazing. The effort the staff made, the entertainment and music was all fantastic. Only Corona has slowed our efforts to rebook again. New Years morning I was up very early, too my astonishment there was nearly every member of staff scrubbing the entire hotel. I wish I could remember her name, but the head of cleaning was on her hands and knees working so hard. I was so impressed with everyone. They had put on a spectacular party.
Our room was tired as are other bedrooms. If you like loud evening entertainment that goes on to 12am, yes 12am every night then you will like this hotel. I think it's too late, too loud and too often. Anyone who retires early will struggle to find peace as the music easily penetrates every room in the hotel and surrounding neighbourhood!
Very clean and modern rooms. Nice pool areas with comfy sun beds.
Too many Germans and evening entertainment wasn’t great
Efforts to reduce waste. No mini portions in the buffet. Lots of wall hooks for hanging clothes, towels etc. Daily animation programmes for kids - my granddaughter LOVED the mini-club and disco- as well as adult entertainment at night. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cleaning was done in 3 separate stages- drop off fresh linens, collect garbage, make beds and mop floor- which meant 3 interruptions. Would have preferred 1 general cleaning. No air conditioning Although the ceiling fan and cool December temperatures made for a comfortable stay, I'm not sure if it would be the same in the summer months.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast/ dinner was excellent, wide selection of fresh, good quality food and lots of variety. Free bus to the beach a couple of times a day from the front of the hotel and back. Bus stop on the main road nearby, so you can easily get to lots of places on the island. Bike rental place right next door.
The interior of the hotel, especially on the upper floors are quite dated, probably from the 70s or 80s. The carpets, sofas, tables on the corridors are faded and old, so are the doors to the rooms. Old, cheap, meaningless pictures are hanging on the corridor walls. Old style air conditioner in the rooms (fan on the ceiling). The flat screen tv in the room is very old and small and I never knew exactly which button to press to turn it on so I kept pressing a couple of them when eventually it turned on. The only English speaking channels were boring, repetative news channels like Sky News and CNN. The storage space in the room is not very big (it’s more like lots of tiny, narrow shelves instead of a couple of bigger ones) and a large chunk of it was occupied by a gigantic safe deposit box which I never used anyway and it would have cost €2/day. No thanks, for paying guests it should be free. And why make it so unreasonably big? I think it was bigger than the tv, it should have been the other way around. There are these unbelievably long corridors on each floor (two on each floor) and my room was at the very end of it, so whenever I had to go down for something, it was quite a long walk to get there. It mainly proved to be a problem when I needed a hot drink, as there’s no kettles in the rooms so everytime I wanted a cup of tea/coffee it was quite an inconvenience to walk so much just for a drink. I had a sore throat for the first couple of days and getting a cup of hot tea felt like a journey in itself. You could seriously have jogging sessions on those corridors and get fit in the process. On the corridor tables all the magazines are in German, not a single one in English. The meal times were a bit limited, for example you could only have breakfast till 10 am, not taking into consideration that some guests wake up late and like to have a late breakfast. In similar hotels breakfast goes on till 10.30 or 11 am.
