It was so cozy and small but still with lots of storage and place to move around. There was a great working AC in the room that went from 16 degrees to 32 degrees for anyone who prefers either cold or warmth. A room for a cheaper price gets you an external bathroom just across the hall but it’s private and only for you, you get your own key to it and it had everything you might need in a regular bathroom!! The building is very old and cute with irregular steps in the stairs, funny and wonky doors, dark wooden beams in the ceiling and just all in all a beautiful and cozy atmosphere. The staff are all extremely nice and were very considerate of my shaky french and were very happy to use either their own shaky english or just use charades and other gestures to help you understand. They were also very happy to answer any questions about the city and how to get around, as well as helping you with your luggage up the stairs. The breakfast was also delicious and very nice!
If you arrive to Marseille by train it’s about 1,5 km to walk to the hotel. As Marseille is a very old town most of the streets are also old and uneven, as well as often very steep either downwards or upwards. I would recomend buying a busticket as soon as you arrive and take the bus or metro as I can imagine it would be very difficult to walk to the hotel with huge suitcases and/or uncomfortable shoes.(Myself I just had a backpack). As the hotel is very old as I said earlier there is no elevator in the building and you might have to walk several floors up to your room, which might also be a bit hard with big suitcases.
Location was good, short walk from the coast and some shops.
Very loud as it backed up right onto the street and the hosts didnt speak english so communication was a bit difficult.
Quirky character. Beautiful garden with a hidden jacuzzi and ideal location for sightseeing Marseille. Due to the fact the staff only speak French, the translater app was a must. The bedroom was comfortable with a farmhouse feel. Did not have the breakfast so cannot comment on quality/quantity.
Lots of stairs, so wouldn’t recommend to people with walking difficulties.
Lovely homely touch to the place Staff helpful Breakfast was lovely
We we're given a room with an extra bed and the part of town was lovely.
We didn't like that the Jacuzzi didn't work properly (no bubbles) and that nobody reacted upon our request to repair it. The second and third night the Jacuzzi was cold and not enjoyable... We were looking forward to sit in the Jacuzzi after long strolls in the city. D'hommage...
