Top tips for hiring a car at Loreto airport

  • Finally, you will be flying to Loreto International Airport and have a list of activities to do. Rather than waiting and hoping to catch a bus ride, the fastest way to get around is to drive yourself courtesy of car rental at Loreto Airport. Even though some people get lucky to get a taxi, there's no guarantee you'll find one waiting at Loreto International Airport (LTO) upon your arrival. Nothing should limit your tours around the resort town of Loreto. And that's where the KAYAK website comes in, so you can book through us even before your flight to LTO begins.
  • It is possible to save some costs with a Loreto Airport car rental if you make an informed choice. For starters, sign up for the most affordable fuel policy that lets you choose a car with a full tank of gas. In this case, you fill it up during the return; hence you pay the exact fuel price charged locally. That's an easy way to have some money left for use in town. Furthermore, you'll be in a position to take the shortest routes when navigating the streets. It's all about the liberty that comes with getting behind the wheel.
  • As displayed on our site, you'll find various types of vehicles. Rent a convertible if you want to have your hair blown by the wind as you drive down the coastal path to La Paz. If you have planned a road trip to La Giganta Mountain Range, you will ride more comfortably in an SUV. Perhaps a full-size sedan would suffice to chauffeur a small family through the city. A compact car is ideal for solo travel but not too far from Loreto Airport.
  • Agencies for car rentals at Loreto Airport are open for business 24/7, so there are no worries even if you arrive at night. After deboarding the plane, some rental desks are easier to spot since they are inside the terminal building. One of the companies is next to the Scotia Bank USA Loreto Airport branch. If you can't find your provider in the arrivals hall, step out and follow the signposts leading to the counters outside the terminal building. Note down the parking lot from where you picked up the car, as it is usually the return area.
  • Book your car hire at Loreto airport at least 3 weeks before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about renting a car at Loreto airport

  • Is insurance by my credit card provider enough for a car rental at Loreto Airport?

We highly recommend having insurance before renting a vehicle at LTO. Your MasterCard or Visa may have some coverage for your travel, but they can be limited to economy class or small cars. That means there's no protection if you rent a luxury model or a large van. Confirm from your credit provider what the policy holds. Luckily, some car rental suppliers sell collision coverage damage to their clients even if you are coming from the US. Excess insurance is a big plus as it protects you better than the average coverage.

  • Who is allowed to drive a car rental from the providers at Loreto Airport, Mexico?

If you have reached 25 years of age and have a valid driving permit, you are qualified to rent any car at LTO. There's a slight possibility of booking a car rental at Loreto Airport and driving if you are between the ages of 21 and 24. If you get lucky, a young driver's surcharge will apply. Your additional driver is also subject to validation by the same rules.

  • How do they confirm my identity when picking up a rental vehicle from LTP?

Carry with you a national ID and passport (if you are not Mexican). Make sure you have held your DL for at least one year. Also, come with your credit card to pay the car rental deposit. Your credit card must be in your real name that appears in the booking confirmation voucher.

  • Which car rental companies will pick you up at Loreto airport?

Car rental companies that offer shuttle or pick-up services from Loreto airport to off-airport locations include Ace, Alamo, Europcar, Hertz, and MEXRENTACAR .

They insisted on Mexican insurance on car. I should not have to have it since credit card guarantees it anywhere in world. Kayak should post this so others know.

Insurance costs should be presented honestly, up-front at time of on-line rental booking. Kayak confirmed price of $10/day for the rental car and mentioned no additional fees for taxes or insurance. Once we arrived to the rental car counter we were told the insurance costs were an added $50/day (Five times the cost of the rental agreement price). Bait and switch! Kayak must do their homework on this false advertising.

I reserved a compact car for a certain price. They said all they had was a keep Cherokee for 10 times the price. Bait and switch. Beware

KAYAK
When we arrived at the airport counter in Loreto the agent informed me that the quoted price did not include “mandatory “ insurance, so in effect the cost of the car rental doubled. The price I was quoted on my reservation, which I made online, led me to believe I was getting a competitive rate. It was only after I got to the rental counter that I learned of the price change—in effect doubling the cost of the car from what I was quoted on the reservation. I believe this is an intentional practice, and Enterprise knows what they are doing—customers (like me) will agree to pay the higher price because they have no choice. This practice something that I would not expect from an international car rental company. I will actively not rent from this company on the future. And I hope that Enterprise/Kayak don’t try to tell me that it was in the fine print. You lied about the price.
