Stay was ok
Not much to like. There was a shower and a bed. Better than sleeping outdoors. Free wifi.
Rude family run staff. Very unfriendly and almost seem to actively despise paying guests. The desk worker could barely utter more than a grunt as he was watching his Indian tv programming and eating. He slammed a paper and tossed a pen at me and offered no instructions or a polite "fill this out please". Just really rude the whole interaction. I was traveling with a buddy for the Grand Prix of Long Beach and for no known reason my reservation was changed from 2 full beds to one queen bed. It was kind of awkward for 2 heterosexual males, but the office manager just shrugged and told me to take it or leave it. Everywhere else was sold out. The room was very sparse. You know it's fairly ghetto accommodations when they hand you the tv remote with your "1" room key for two people. THEY SPARE EVERY EXPENSE. Including furniture. There was no tv stand- just a cheap lcd TV hanging from the wall with cords dangling below. No night stand, and 1 single outlet for the entire room to charge the phones unless I unplugged the tv. The noise travels through the walls like paper. The neighbor flushes the toilet and it sounds like it's in your room with the bathroom door wide open. The expected sirens and thumping car systems all night long that you might expect in the rougher part of Long Beach. I've seen broke college students who live in downright luxurious dorm accommodations compared to this place. But whatever- it was a relatively inexpensive room ($95/ night after tax). The "free weekend continental breakfast" was your choice of an apple or banana in the lobby. No coffee, no cereal, no Danish. All that said, we definitely could not wait to leave. Not a place you wake up leisurely and enjoy a morning coffee in your room before travel. Nope. Wake up, then you want to leave as quickly as possible. I guess that about sums it up.
