Car rental at Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport

To secure a car hire at the airport, you generally must be at least 21 years of age and have had your driver’s licence for at least two years. If you are under the age of 25, you might have to pay a young driver surcharge over and above the regular car hire cost. Some car hire companies don't allow drivers between 21 and 24 years old to hire certain types of vehicles.

If you are visiting from outside the country, you will need your passport and any visa documentation you needed to enter the country. You'll also need your driver’s licence and an international driver's permit if necessary. When you are driving around, be sure to have your driver's licence, proof of ID or passport, proof of hire and car insurance documents. The car hire company must provide the last two sets of paperwork.

The first thing you should make note of is that you'll be driving on the right-hand side of the road. There are loads of roundabouts, which can cause some drivers to be nervous at first if they are not used to them. Just remember that you don't need to indicate when entering the circle but you do when you leave the circle. Seat belts are mandatory for all passengers at all times. From 15 November to 15 March, all types of vehicles are required to have snow chains in the car or snow tires fitted.
