La Fortuna hostels

Pros: Stuff was helpful and friendly!

Cons: The rooms where much worse then their are shown on the photos. The hostel is divided in different parts. The main part is quite good but there are just a few rooms. We had our room two streets next to the main part (that was absolutely no problem). But the rooms were much older and the bath was not in a good shape!

Pros: The staff are awesome. The cleaners especially are very hardworking.

Cons: They play music from 12pm to 10pm. It’s insanely loud. Personal preference but if I had known that, I wouldn’t have stayed there. Maybe post it on your property description?

Pros: The cleaning staff. Their attractions consultant.

Cons: I put much of the blame on trip advisor and booking.com. This place showed as the cheapest available for a private room. The loud music and the pool hall were more than enough for my ear plugs. Admittedly, I did not shop multiple sites. Caveat Emptor. I had a single room at $55 a night when I found much better offerings for single rooms at other hostels for half that price after arrival. On arrival, I was told I had to pay for all 4 nights in advance and there was no possibility of change. Even of upgrading my room. The "kitchen" had a broken microwave, no hot water, coffee pot or filter. No electric hot pot. The A/C unit worked well. Their pool was empty. My room had jury rigged plumbing, They did provide me with a plunger when I asked. The front desk staff was rude (when available) At $25 per night (good price for CR), I would not have expected more.

Pros: The bartender was super nice and even offered to take a picture of us at the pool. Warm pool btw and everyone was nice to me and my partner. There was a miscommunication with the breakfast ticket but the front desk was nice enough to refund us. Definitely recommend if you are going to fortuna and looking for a place to stay! A/C, warm water, clean rooms & great staff!

Pros: The inside area of the hostel was really nice with the hammocks. I also liked the pool with the bar in the partner hostel nearby.

Cons: When we came there the front desk manager could not find our booking. So he called the partner hostels. Lucky us they had a room for us. It was the last room in the last part of the hostel area. The room had no windows and in the night we heard some mice or rats in the ceiling. There were also cockroaches in the bathroom. We also didn’t get a welcome drink like all the other guests. It is a pity! The hostel has potential but the price was too high for this experience.

Pros: Great pool and swim up bar. Very friendly bartender (Manuel) Nice very clean room with large shower in private bathroom. Beautiful garden area. Nice clean kitchen area. Wonderful staff. Would like to give special thanks to Jenny. She went above and beyond helping us with many things. All the staff was nice and helpful, Ferdinand, Daniel, and David and probably others but can’t remember all the names. Extra special thanks to Jessie too. We loved staying there. Thanks to everyone.

Cons: Nothing really.

Pros: Location in the heart of town, easy to go out for food

Cons: Small beds for 2 persons in the private rooms

Pros: Nice pool, kitchen ok, staff friendly, good location, lockers in the dorm

Cons: Really loud music every day from 2-10pm!!!

Pros: the staff was very helpful the rooms were clean And the atmosphere is delightful The other travelers were friendly I very much enjoyed my stay in Arenal Hostel Resort I have already recommended it to others! Happy new year

Cons: the construction started too early and woke me up! The artificial smell of the cleaning solutions used are hormone disrupters and it would be a good idea to use "green" cleaners to protect the staff as well as the clients

Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful. Good location. The hammocks in the common areas are nice.

Cons: The bathroom is TINY, it’s almost hard to turn around in there . My dorm was in the basement and was really dark and damp. Wifi in the dorm was really poor.

Pros: Centrally located in La Fortuna. Small rooms but good enough for one night stay. Good value.

Cons: Room 115 was next to a noisy air conditioner. Lots of street noise. Pool not in order but could walk 1/2 block to other property that had small pool

Cons: It was extremely hard to find and parking the hostel parking lot is a few blocks away

Pros: - We were allowed to use the pool of another hostal near by

Cons: - Many Ants in the room - Much of the kitchen stuff did not work

Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Besides providing (information of) tours, they also helped me recommrnding where to go next after la Fortuna. The supermarket next door was also very convenient.

Cons: It was very hot in the room, especially when all four beds were occupied by guests. Even with a window open and the fan turned on, it remained hot.

Pros: The location was amazing, directly in the center of town. We could walk to several restaurants and shops to enjoy the town. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They helped us book the all day volcano tour with pick up directly at the hostel. I highly recommend this tour, great fun!

Cons: The pool was not open during our stay which was disappointing, but the staff did offer for us to visit the sister location to utilize the pool 1 block away.

Pros: Central location

Cons: Music until 23:00,keeps you awake

Cons: There was a horrible smell that came from the bathroom. After investigating we found rodent feces.

Pros: Great location, you can use facilities from the others hostels of the chain. It is a good choice for the money you pay

Cons: It has great potential but It seems that it has a lack of maintenance in some areas, like kitchen, bathroom doors

Pros: Unbelievably rude staff. The rooms are NOT what they advertise. When asked why they said they’re not responsible for the booking.com description of their place

Cons: No wardrobe, no hot water, most of the facilities of the rooms description are actually in common. We were asked to pay before entering the room (the only time in a three weeks staying in CR). It’s simply a tourist trap and the staff is incredibly rude. We had a three nights reservation but we left after only one night because of their attitude.

Cons: I was charge twice and the place was stinky
