Kunming hotels near Tuodong Stadium

Cons: We arrived at this hotel late evening on 2 June on transit to Lijiang. Instead of single-use slippers, there were only two pairs of leather lookalike slippers in sealed thick plastic bags with notice on the package that said “NOT FOR A GIFT”...”RMB110”.... “IF OPEN THE PACKING SHALL BE REGARDED AS USED”. After looking around to confirm the lack of alternatives, we managed to cut open the bags and used the slippers. Next morning at 5.30am, we checked out and were asked to pay RMB220 for the two pairs of slippers we had used and left behind. The hotel staff even brought down the slippers for us to bring along. We had a flight to catch, registered our objection and left knowing that we would be back again in five days time and hope to resolve this then. The front desk staff handling this also admitted they had received similar complaints from other guests who had made the same mistake and on the ridiculously steep charges for a pair of leather lookalike bedroom slippers. We returned to the hotel on 7 June, again on transit to return to HK the next day. We raised the “slipper incident” and spoke to their manager-on-duty. She came back and reiterated that the room we stayed at had an amenities basket with single-use slippers included. We told her we had checked the room on 2 June and found none, and that it was actually an inconvenience for us to struggle to open the plastic packaging. Her only response was house keeping had pictures to prove we left the slippers in the room on 2 June; hotel policy requires single-use slippers be available in all rooms. She did not even once apologised for the situation, and through her reply, put the blame on us and insinuated we lied. We were very disappointed with the hotel for 1) charging RMB110 for a pair of bedroom slippers when providing such amenities is a common practice for more hotels are ; 2) not providing single-use slippers in the room we stayed in and; 3) didn’t even offer a simple apology.

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: The spa, gym, and pool had already been under construction for 5 months and no date for reopening was set. So, it would have been fair not to advertise with these facilities.

Pros: Very clean with no cigarette odour, nice breakfast, nice food at Chinese restaurant, room bigger than other hotels, friendly staff.

Pros: Very quiet. Good location.

Pros: Staff very helpful, breakfast was better than I expected. Location of hotel is ideal for getting around. Old style of hotel is modernised to a very high standard. Would stay again,and recommend the hotel.

Cons: The walk up the up to the front of the hotel.

Pros: Location, walking distance to shopping center and there are lots of food store around there. Near MRT station. 40 mins to airport by taxi around RMB90. Room , good enough for 2Adults and 2 small kids. 2 beds (1350w) . Both room and bathroom are very clean. Food, breakfast is a combine eastern and western. Very nice local food provided during breakfast.

Pros: Excellent, nice view breakfast location in top floor of high rise building in middle of downtown. Comfortable room. Walkable sightseeing and shop till you drop and unlimited dining and (outside) drinking opportunities around. Metro station for Western Hills visit and airport very close.

Cons: WIFI terrible, open unsafe connection, low bandwidth. No international TV channels. Basic Asian and continental breakfast buffet. No fresh yoghurts, only a sweet dairy product, no muesli, only unhealthy processed, baked commercial grains containing sugar, very strong overcooked breakfast coffee, limited bread selection with all them containing sugar....!, limited choice fresh fruit. In general enough choice but far away from the top class 4/5* breakfast buffets we experienced elsewhere in China. Anyway, enjoy the view and plenty of top restaurants around.

Pros: Breakfast was ok but the location is excellent, highest level (28 floor)! Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day and couldn't really see the surrounding landscape well.

Cons: 没有空调，really sock that N0 Air-conditioning, room very hot n stuffy. Never encounter this type of experience before. Terrible.

Pros: 18% if price were added to the cost of accommodation. It should be included in the price and shown upfront. The 18% charges should not be in the fine prints and excluded in the price that was displayed. Very misleading and not honest .

Cons: As mentioned above, the final price (subject to 18% charges) should be directly reflected (it should not be excluded and in the fine prints).

Pros: I like the location near kunming train station and the airport shuttle bus just in front the hotel. the shuttle bus is from and to airport.

Pros: Location, view from room, easy to navigate with cab drivers.

Cons: Food in restaurants was very disappointing, staff hardly spoke any English, hotel looked overall old, leaking shower, staff was adding around 30-40% commission on the cab fares while you can just walk outside and get better rate from the cab driver who is waiting in front of the hotel.

Pros: My flight was early and the hotel let me check in early. This was greatly appreciated. The room was beautiful, extremely comfortable, with fruit and yogurt as a free treat!

Cons: Liked everything but were a little surprised that the desk staff didn’t have very good English skills. It was difficult to get info about museums, etc. (We are sorry we didn’t know Chinese.) The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful.

Pros: Excellent location. The airport transfer bus is just downstairs, extremely convenient (seamless) for transferring to/from the airport. The high speed train station is about 7/8 minutes walk from the hotel. It is convenient for travelers who are going out of the city.

Cons: We stayed there for 2 nights as a transit to/from Dali. The first room has a blinking light in the bathroom (scary). The second room was fine.

Pros: I really enjoyed my stay in the lost garden. At first I planned to stay just one night, but in the end I stayed four hehe. Staff was really nice and friendly. The terrace is really nice and I highly appreciated that is a non-smoking place.

Cons: The room where I was had some humidity problems, nothing really serious that would harm anyone, but it would be better if they could fix it.

Pros: The guesthouse is perfectly situated, walking distance from the park and the main attractions. The team were really helpful and the room was peaceful. Would recommend!

Pros: We enjoyed the proximity of the house to the nearby attractions, easy walking distance to the places nearby. Staff was helpful and friendly and the room was comfortable.

Cons: No air conditioning, but they provide a fan that cools the room down a bit.

Pros: Comfortable bed . Building work was going on and the bedroom is next to reception, so earplugs were provided. To stay in a hostel bedroom with private bathroom, furnished to compliment the old style of the building was unique. The hostel is walking distance from the superb Green Lake Park and a couple of minutes walk from a great patisserie that sells European ad Chinese breads, pastries and good coffee. The cinema is a 10 minute walk.

Pros: Supportive and friendly stuff, atmoshere in the place, liked decoration and furniture. Ecxelent location . Good price/value. Nice terasse for all needed for tea ceremony including free tea.

Cons: A little bit narrow spaces - room, corridors, stairs. Was noisy during the day and in the morning, stuff warned about renovation before check in and gave 20%off. Room is not very sound isolated. In general, nothing critical.

Pros: Lost Garden is an oasis in Kunming. It’s location is unbeatable and I always love the comfortable and technologically equipped rooms. The staff couldn’t be nicer, and the roof terrace is the perfect peaceful place to work or relax. I’ve stayed in (literally) dozens of places in Kunming over the past 30 years and the Lost Garden is my absolute favorite.

Cons: Nothing, really... I am perfectly content here!
