The property is well located for those coming from Awaji Island. The reception hall is very nice and the highlight of the hotel.
I booked this hotel because of it's good location and it's onset facilities. However when I arrived I was given a piece of paper (in Japanese) that said the onsen was closed for renovation (since April). This was entirely disappointing - and the staff were unsympathetic to the issue. I feel I was mis-informed by the booking website for such long term renovation. In addition it seemed the hotel was very intent on charging customers for every additional extra; everything in the room had a price tag, and the vending machines in reception were the most expensive I've seen in Japan - so bring your own drinks!
The location was great. I had a large room and view of the bridge. I was near the train station and they have a shuttle service to it. I was also near the beach and large park. It was relaxing. I will stay there again. I stayed in the annex building.
beautiful sight of Akashi bridge in the evening
many long hair remain on tatami.
Breakfast buffet is excellent. Good choices for both hot and cold dishes and even offerings for those preferring Western style bfst (what?!!!). Seating is a bit limited for a full house so there may be a wait for table. Also loved the tatami room - good size and...of course the view is worth a million! Make certain to elect the "seaview" optuon and I guarantee you won't regret dropping the extra pennies for the Akashi Kaikyo view. You are taking the Bridge World tour, right?
Guests need more info about the free bus shuttle to the hotel avail at Maiko Koen train stop. It is not an easy walk uphill to the hotel. Thankfully a local guided us to the shuttle stop. Disappointed that the hotel facilities are dated and in need of much upgrading. Although spacious and clean its obvious some areas have no foot traffic and is poorly lit. Room lighting is very poor and bathroom is in dire need of upgrading. Plumbing fixtures are makeshift repaired and interior colors make a dingy appearance. Such a beautifully located property needs new life and vibrancy brought to its bones. There is much potential but where is it? I felt suffocated in a box with no life.
I like the buffet breakfast. More than one restaurants are provided. The food quality is satisifed, but we need to wait for tables sometimes.
I travel to the hotel by driving rental car. I used Google Map for navigation but the hotel location is not the correct. I checked in the hotel at night. There are no staff helping me to get the luggages.
