Pros: My wife, 7 month old daughter and I recently stayed at the Killarney Park for a weekend and we had an amazing time. My parents were also booked into the hotel so it was a great location for a family gathering. The service from the staff across all areas was excellent - Norma, in particular, helped my wife out on numerous occasions especially with any questions related to accommodating our daughter. We used the pool on both days and it was quiet and relaxed on both occasions. We had dinner in the bar on both nights and the food was lovely. Likewise, the breakfast was really nice with a great buffet selection and a large number of made to order options available as well. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend it. Hopefully, we'll be back soon.

It would have been nice to have had a longer time to savor the elegance of this lovely hotel, to walk the peaceful grounds, sit on the garden patio, stroll into Killarney and back, lounge in the quaint Cellar Bar in the evening. Additionally, our room was spacious, the bed cozy and comfy, and all was spotless. The continental breakfast was plenty and served under sparkling crystal chandeliers. We had the option of ordering a hot meal if that suited. The staff was gracious and helpful. The entire experience was just what we had hoped for!

The location is wonderful, you feel like you are deep in the countryside but you are walking distance from town or a five minute taxi ride. The house is steeped in history and our room was full of character and so comfortable. We enjoyed fine dining in the restaurant with views of the landscaped gardens and were given a plate of beautiful chocolates to celebrate our recent marriage. Staff were friendly and warm and are a great example of good Irish hospitality. It certainly is a little gem in Killarney.

Pros: Totally amazing. Definitey book this place. After a couple disappointing airbnb stays we decided to splurge on this place. It was SO WORTH IT! We did get an upgrade so I'm not sure what the regular room would have been like, but the one we got was just spectactular. It felt incredibly indulgent and luxurious and a total steal at $200/night. I wish we'd stayed longer and would return in a heartbeat. We usually prefer homey, cheaper airbnbs but this was exactly what we needed to treat ourselves. They gave our toddler son a stuffed duck upon check in which he worships. It's a totally idyllic setting. I wish we were still there! Also, before we checked in we decided to go to town for dinner. We ended up walking around for an hour+, places to full to get in, and having a pretty terrible meal in the end. I SO WISH we would have just gone directyl to the hotel and eaten there. We never eat at hotels, but it couldn't have been worse than what we had and we would have had so much more time to bask in the luxury of this place.

Cons: Only qualm was when they ordered a taxi for us to take us into town. A hackney cab turned up. No meter and we were overcharged when compared to other taxis we had taken. Advice is to not use hackneys or use ones that don't take advantage of residents.

Pros: Lake Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel set in a spectacular location. The lake, a nature preserve and castle ruins are on the property. We were fortunate to see red deer on a evening walk close to the lake. The room was large and very comfortable with a beautiful view of the lake. There is a great little bistro with good food and drinks in the hotel. Breakfast was also exceptional.

Pros: We arrived at The Brehon Hotel on Sun 1st Sept'19 and were welcomed by a really lovely Receptionist, who checked us in very quickly and got the Porter to bring out luggage to our Room! Our Room was so very spacious with a massive very comfortable extra-double bed! The first thing I noticed was the cleanliness of the Room and adjoining bathroom! The bathroom had a separate Walk-In Shower which I loved and plenty hot water for a refreshing shower! There was an extra large TV in our Room which had every channel possible this year, much more than we had for our stay at The Brehon in 2018 and the years before! The Buffet Breakfast every morning was just AMAZING catering for everyone's different needs! The Staff in the Dining Room were second to none, always had a smile on their faces for every guest! You definitely would not be hungry after eating breakfast! We hope to be back at The Brehon Hotel again next year, please God! Thanks to The Brehon Hotel for our Wonderful Stay!

Cons: The fact that I fell ill on the third night(Tues)of our stay(through no fault of The Brehon)which meant I couldn't eat Breakfast on Wed, Thurs or Fri(our last)morn, but my husband Pat brought up a slice of Toast to me each morn, after he'd eaten his FULL Irish Breakfast, as I couldn't take my Meds on an empty stomach! I had to stay in bed all day Weds and Thurs, as, unfortunately, I was unable to go out sightseeing or shopping, because I was feeling too sick! I don't disagree with this policy per se as shouting children would ruin other couples experience but it makes it more difficult when I cant just bring our baby up the lift as opposed to bringing her across a carpark in Kerry weather. A compromise might be a 2 hour slot when children/babies can be brought into the pool area.

Cons: The staff was not helpful The room was very difficult to get into. After trying for 10 min to open the door with the key I went to the front desk to get help. They sent someone up to show us how to hold the door and pull before it would open. They said it happens a lot with their doors and keys. The next morning when we left the room we had a difficult time getting out of the room because of the door situation. Just grateful there was no fire during the night. We were also told that breakfast wasn’t till 8. When we got down to the lobby at 7:30 they were serving only the bus tour group breakfast. We were told breakfast was at 8 but the tour group was already being served. All other hotels that I’ve stayed at served all their guests at the same time and didn’t give special treatment to the tour groups. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The breakfast was superb; however, the restaurant was not open for dinner while we were there, which was a disappointment as we often like to just crash after checking in on busy trips and that's a lot easier if one doesn't have to dress up and go out for a good restaurant. There are, however, about 50 restaurants within walking distance. We tried two; the fish restaurant, Kitty O'Shea's (spelt the Irish way, O'Se) had good food, but no bar; just wine and beer. And it was noisy and crowded. Still the manager was a lovely man. The Indian place we tried the second night also lacked a bar, and it's food also lacked variety, despite a menu of about 200 n ominal offerings. I'd have been happier with well-cooked Indian street food, so much so that I can't recall the name of the place, nor do I want to.

Cons: Just a few small issues. At a four star hotel I expect a face cloth in the bathroom. The flooring is timber so I could hear the person in the room above me early in the morning walking about. The breakfast room didn't have gluten free options visibly available but they were available if one asks, Some items need to be ordered the night before but that's no use if you are not aware of it.

Pros: Excellent location. Particularly enjoyed the micro brewery directly opposite which had opened a small bar area serving pizza and a pint. Rooms were well appointed with plenty of chairs, which was a nice touch. There was a mix of old and new in terms of decor, which was nicely balanced. Breakfast was excellent, with a good range of fruits, cereals, pastries and cooked options. Probably the best breakfast we had eaten all week.

Cons: There was a wedding on at the time I was there and other guests were very loud up and down the hallways, not very quiet at all and they kept me awake at all hours of the night, the sound carried way too well into the room. Even in the mornings when other guests were leaving they were very loud- ?just obnoxious people vs. not sound proof room at all.

Cons: This time I got a "basement" room (113 I think it was - but could be wrong). The problem is that there is a little boiler room next door, which makes it quite noisy when people are taking showers. Also, it's below the gym so there is extra noise/smells if you open the window, and you also hear the music from the bar - so no sleeping before midnight in this room if you are a light sleeper. The room itself is fine.

Cons: While outside the hotel's area of control, the apparent lack of discretion by the Parking Company supervising the front precints of the complex is a negative. I was unable to secure parking in the hotel car park on night of arrival as it was full and found a parking space directly beside the front of the hotel. A parking ticket was issued at 10.05 a.m. the following morning.This additional expenditure on the trip copuld have been better spent elsewhere.
