the employees are professional, but friendly. The pool is very large compared to all the hotels that are located right in front of the beach. They also have a pool table, a foosball table, a decent gym and a bar. There are several good restaurants quite close by and a few beach bars in front of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the hot water is hot; the a/c also worked well.
The room we stayed in certainly needs updating (as you can infer from the photo of the rotary dial phone in the bathroom—why is there a phone in the bathroom?). The included breakfast was passable, but the dining area is crowded (seems like a pretty busy hotel from the number of guests at breakfast). Also, they charge for parking (admittedly, very little, but still…).
Nice location and nice staff - those were the only positives.
The room had a greasy menu on a not-so-clean shelf, the restaurant clearly didn’t sweep the floors from dinner to next day breakfast (the food under our table was still there the next morning!), breakfast was very poor. Altogether I cannot understand how that hotel could ever possibly be a 4-star, it’s nowhere near what a 4-star should be.
We liked the hotel location - in front of the beach and easy access to pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. Walking distance to Bar do Cuzcuz (a must!) and other restaurants, bars and food truck spot. Good breakfast.
The hotel room was a little dark, old infrastructure, not well maintained. Towel support came off when I pulled the towel. TV signal very bad. Only two elevators. and one of them was broken. There was a chess competition going on and we kinda didn't know where to go upon arrival. Parking very old and badly maintained. A simple painting job would make a huge different, plus fixing wall infiltration, etc - basic things, easy to fix, however, that would make a difference!
The room is far away from a 4 stars hotel.
