10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel overall was excellent. The accommodation was light, airy, modern and very clean. Shower cubicle was a good size. Breakfast was extremely good with a wide selection of fruit, cereal, 'build you own' full English, and homemade preserves (the ginger marmalade highly recommended!). We will certainly be returning in the future.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The breakfast was amazing and such a lot of choice all cooked to order and fresh we have never stayed anywhere so immaculately clean. to top if off the hosts Karen and Russell are so friendly and willing to help definitely will book there again if we go to Ilfracombe again
Cons: there wasn't anything we honestly didn't like
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very professional couple. High end food and house.
Cons: The room was up 2 flights of stairs - not an issue as our bags were taken up for us.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Owners are lovely people. Delicious breakfast every morning. Spotlessly clean throughout and tastefully decorated. Loved seeing the sea from our window.
Cons: For myself and partner, the beds were too firm, however a firm mattress probably suits most people.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean, tidy and friendly hosts. Adults only
Cons: I'm not a great fan of guest houses but we needed somewhere to stay and this place got good ratings. I personally found it a little intrusive, I don't want to be greeted by my name by the host in the morning (you don't know me) and immediately after breakfast room cleaning started so felt pressured to get out of the room. Not the fault of the hosts who were very pleasant just not my type of stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, welcoming hosts, personal service. Property is spotlessly clean , well maintained and tastefully furnished and decorated. Comfortable bed. Large fluffy bath sheets. Sun terrace, honesty bar, books and dvds provided. Filtered water. Private parking
Cons: Would have liked a heated towel rail as towels only changed every three days. We noticed the traffic noise with the windows open.

The Towers - Ilfracombe - Building
3
9.7 Excellent (176 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Towers guest house is a landmark Victorian building in a superb position with beautiful sea views, overlooking Hillsborough nature reserve on the South West Coast Path with views towards Ilfracombe’s picturesque harbour. Located 1.2 km away is the town centre and harbour, offering a good choice of restaurants, cafes and public houses. There is also a golf course that is less than a mile (1.6 km) away. The Towers offers a quiet, relaxing stay with many of the rooms benefiting from sea views. A hearty breakfast is served in the dining room and the guest house also caters for vegetarians. There is a lounge where guests can relax. With your comfort in mind, the guest house is a completely non-smoking residence.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous views from a very comfy and clean room. Breakfast was beautiful and Tricia even catered for my dairy allergy. Nothing was too much trouble and the location was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about it
Cons: Liked it all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfort, cleanliness, location and owners helpfulness.
Cons: Not a thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room. Friendly and helpful welcome. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable establishment. Lovely welcome from the owners who could not have been more helpful. Good food, room (with great view) clean, bed linen and towels changed very frequently (we stopped for a week), lot of parking. Would recommend The Towers without any hesitation.
Cons: There was nothing that we didn't like. The Towers enjoys a commanding view overlooking Ilfracombe and by virtue of this there is quite a steep walk down and back from the harbour area. This didn't concern us but it might be of significance to those who are less able to walk, although there is plenty of car parking to be had in the town and harbour itself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Trisha made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of information about the area. If we go back to Ilfracombe we will definitely stay at The Towers.
Cons: Nothing to dislike

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, helpful, and pleasant hosts. Large room, good lighting. Delicious breakfasts in a charming breakfast room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host, room and breakfast. We got upgraded free of charge on arrival to a king room... the room was lovely. It is about a 25 minute walk to the centre but that didn't bother us. We would definitely stay again :-)
Cons: There is nothing not to like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very clean and tidy, and plenty of lighting in there! Also, a big extension lead for chargers and hair dryer, all you could ever need. Really well laid out, and classy, simple decor. The check in was brilliant, and we were told all we needed to know for our stay. Staff were super friendly, and breakfast was excellent in the morning. Cooked to perfection.
Cons: Only thing I would like would be the full length mirror to be in a better place in the room, as I couldn't see my whole outfit!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean building throughout. Amazing breakfast. Cheerful lovely owner. Really enjoyable stay for a great price. Would recommend to anyone.
Cons: Nothing not to like
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very nice and choice of cereals and juices was good. Fresh fruit and yogurts were also excellent. Toast was served hot and Anchor butter at room temperature rather than like concrete blocks was a nice touch. Conserves were also excellent served in glass jars with a variety of choices. Host was nice and friendly and we were offered more toast at both sittings. Hot tea and coffee was served promptly on arrival. The room was spotless and we were upgraded to a family room on the ground floor at no extra cost. Flat screen TV was larger than usual and extra sockets were available for mobile phones etc. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. A mini bar with soft drinks, bottles of wine etc were all available using a key provided with your door key which was an excellent addition we hadn't been offered before in addition to this the prices were very reasonable, (£1 for a can of coke/7 up) not a rip off like you normally experience with mini bars!
Cons: No choice of menu other than full English or beans on toast or egg on toast. All other places we've visited have given options like kippers etc. Toilet seat was light plastic and kept moving. Bottom edges of shower black and needed cleaning.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Bed was very hard
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, good wifi, sufficient parking space on premises.
Cons: 20 minutes walk to city center. No elevator.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed-excellent hosts
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I couldn’t find any faults with the hotel, the hosts upgraded us as soon as we arrived free of charge because they had a quiet weekend, thank you so much! Our room was decorated lovely, the bathroom was modern and clean and the bath was so relaxing! We had a great view over the sea. The breakfast was lovely, I’m very fussy but even I was satisfied, the vege sausages were great (not your usual mushed vegetables made into a sausage shape). The hosts were so welcoming and friendly and they couldn’t do enough for you! I was sceptical about the location as the hotel was on a hill but the walk to and from the sea front was quicker and easier than I imagined. Overall what a wonderful stay at Cairn house!

Pros: Breakfast was excellent lovely food and well presented! Really enjoyed it! Views from our room of the harbour and surrounding country side were astounding a real pleasure! Sharon and Daryl were most welcoming and pleasant and spoke to each one of the guests each morning. A really enjoyable weekend and a beautiful place to stay.
Cons: The only thing I did not like even though it did not change my opinion of the place was the bed! It was not the most comfortable of beds I have ever slept in as it was quite lumpy and gave me a bad back each morning. My fault that I did not mention it but was so pleased with everything else felt it was unfair to complain about the bed

Pros: Beautiful hotel, friendly owner.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Wildercombe exceeded expectation, and was easily the best of our eight-night tour of England's south. Our room was very clean and comfortable, parking no problem, the breakfast more than adequate, and our host, Ann-Marie, very congenial. She was also more than helpful in promptly forwarding a jacket we'd left behind. No hesitation in recommending a stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A comfortable stay, friendly host and delicious buffet-style breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very picturesque and comfortable guesthouse. Recently refurbished by the owners who have done everything beautifully and lovingly to the highest standard. Our room was extremely attractive and clean. The owners were friendly and welcoming as were the people cleaning the rooms and doing the breakfasts. Breakfasts were good quality and well prepared. They were also generous with their offering which is nice to see. The property is well situated in Ilfracombe. Just a short walk from the harbour. Due to the beautiful hilltop location we did choose to get a taxi back though, to avoid the hill. Overall A delightful stay, we would stay again and recommend the guest house to anyone staying in the area. Thanks G and P

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the hotel and the location was close to the center of the town and water front. Staff were very helpful, polite and happy.
Cons: Parking was away from the Hotel. The Hotel only had 7 parking spaces on a first come first served basis. We eventually managed to park in Jubilee Gardens out the front of the hotel.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Pressure of the shower
Cons: The hotel is VERY DATED on arrival we were told that we had one of the nicest rooms I beg to differ outdated carpet was that slippery it felt it had been polished ,bathroom dated crack in the bath tub (dangerous) wallpaper pealing and paint work needs re painting no signal for TV . Overall it needs closing down and a massive overhaul .
