Very welcoming and friendly owner and great standard of accommodation
Linda was a great host and went out of her way to help us with restaurant recommendations. This was especially helpful as we were there over new year and many restaurants were fully booked or closed. The breakfast was lovely and could be taken inside or in the gardens. We had a private outside space which was a bonus but there was also a communal swimming pool, grounds and BBQs.
This stay brought to a close our three week trip to South Africa and we couldn't have picked a better place to do so. Milkwood Lodge is easy to find and is a short walk to one of the best beaches in Hermanus although you need to drive to get to the centre of the town. We stayed in the cottage and the facilities were excellent including a washing machine which allowed us the luxury of a clean set of clothes to travel home in. Our host Linda couldn't have been more accommodating in helping us plan our time in Hermanus and with recommendations of restaurants which were all excellent. She was also very helpful in pre-visit correspondence. Her insight of Hermanus and South Africa in general was enlightening and I learned a lot from our chats during our stay. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. Highly recommended.
Leaving for the airport.
The breakfasts were amazing
The road was a bit noisy.
Absolutely loved our stay at the Milkwood lodge! We stayed in the family room with our 14 month old son, The room size was great and had all the amenities we needed, including a very comfortable crib for the little man and an even more comfortable king bed for us (definitely the best in our stay in South Africa). The excellent linens, pillows and perfectly fluffy towels were also top quality. The property was also beautiful with so many trees and a lovely swimming pool (which we couldn't use because it was a bit cold outside). And we got to see the two resident owls! It felt like a little oasis in Hermanus. The breakfast was delicious and loved the french press coffee! We really appreciated having breakfast made for us after staying in self-catering cottages. But most of all, we loved our host (Linda) and her team. She was wonderful and caring and we also loved meeting her little 1-month old grand-daughter.
