10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very good, we stayed at the ryokan style bedroom and it was very comfortable... all the facilities were nice and clean. The views to the garden and the proximity to all the important spots in the city makes it a great place to stay. It also has a small onsen that can be used any time and it was very nice. They also have a spot in the house to practice origami and calligraphy... If we come back to miyajima we’ll surely stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were really super. They spoke good English and couldn't have been more helpful. I enjoyed chatting with Juyan in the lounge after I'd been out for dinner. The whole place had a lovely atmosphere.
Cons: Although it was well located for the cable-car and temple, it was quite a walk from the port with luggage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room with view to the garden. Everything is nice and clean. They have a small private onsen as well. As they recommended a okonomiyaki restaurant in the neighborhood, we went and had the best meal.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff - they give great info and advices. They have their own onsen that you can privatise and as such share with your partner from the opposite sex (we were happy to have the chance to bathe together as a couple for once :) ). The rooms are huge and have an extraordinary view on the beach - we were simply amazed. The location is great. We had a very good time. Thank you to the awesome staff !
Cons: The only minus I see is that the futon was very thin. We had 3 futons in the room so My husband sacrificed himself and gave me two when he only had one - i slept great but he had a harder time. The overall experience was great though.

The location is perfect, in the Main Street right where you disembark from the ferry. We could see the deer at night from our window. 9.2 Excellent
Pros: This small hotel is located in the heart of Myajima. 2 minutes walk from the main shopping street and 5 minute walk to the famous Tori gate. It is spotless and is furnished with good taste. We had a room for 4, a family with 2 children, and the 2 joint bedrooms were separated by the sliding door. Bed, especially blankets!! we’re so comfortable. Shared bathroom and lavatory were not a problem. I never saw any other guests anyway, although the place was booked out. The lovely lady who runs the hotel speaks excellent English, is very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you for your hospitality . The hotel is 8 mins walk from ferry. I would definitely stay there again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very friendly and went out of her way to help orient us to the neighborhood. Breakfast was healthy and delicious

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place had everything we needed, very comfortable and central and the hostess was very very lovely and incredibly helpful. Highly recommended!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The fantastic place on this island. Quite close to most attractions and the house is hold by very helpful woman. She provided a lot of useful information to us. Two things I didn't expected were: awesome coffee and a very nice bathroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very well located, very simple room, the owner is really nice and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very big, we were actually the only guests for the night, so could use bathroom whenever. Host was lovely and helpful with suggestions for dinner, as only a handful are open at night on Miyajima.
7.5 Good
Pros: The owner is very helpful and friendly. She gave us tips on where to eat and how to reach Mt Misen. Everything was very clean. We had 2 adjoining two-bedroom rooms for a family of four. The property is close to the pier and the main shopping street.
Cons: The room where we stayed with our 2 kids had no view, which is a personal preference. I think next time being on such a beautiful island, I would want a view of the ocean. It is pricey to stay on the island in general, including at this B and B. But overall we had a nice stay for one night.

7.5 Good
Pros: Very nice amazing staff. Private bath. Good location. Picked you up and dropped you off from the ferry.
Cons: A bit run down for the amount of money paid, smelled funny in the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jukeiso is a traditional ryokan located near the woodlands and overlooking the sea and the famous Torii on Miyajima Island. It is perfect for visiting the main sites and the Miyajima Park. The traditional bedding on raised platforms was very comfortable and convenient for people hesitant about sleeping on the tatami covered floor. The staff were endlessly helpful and warm. Our Japanese evening meal and breakfast were delicious. The private onsen was an added bonus for westerners unused to public bathing. This is a special place. We will return.
Cons: No negatives
8.3 Excellent
Pros: After dark, we walked through the most beautifull setting next to the shrine. We were all alone, except for the moon. It was unmatched. Want to go back. We enjoyed the private semi-outside onsen, the delicate dinner served with elegance, the view across the shrine, pagoda and Torii (in scafolds, as announced).
Cons: Finding the way to the hotel by foot was a bit tricky. Look for the big sign high upon a post at the base of a stone staircase
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The dinner and breakfast were such a fun experience! The staff was amazing, welcoming and sweet. We felt like we were visiting someone in their home. We loved having the shuttle from the pier.

Hotel Kikunoya - Hatsukaichi - Building
8
8.8 Excellent (1,319 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Kikunoya in Hatsukaichi, you'll be a 1-minute drive from Itsukushima Shrine and 7 minutes from Miyajima Ferry Terminal. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a water dispenser. Free self parking is available onsite.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: I did not like this hotel at all.
Cons: We were initially shown to a very cramped depressing room which smelled strongly of drains. The bed, which had been advertised as a small double, was barely bigger than a single bed. The momiji manju (japanese sweet) which was left in the room actually had flies inside the packaging which did not inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the hotel...! We asked to move rooms which they eventually did - they put us in a japanese style room which smelled musty and like it needed airing (although thankfully it didn't smell of drains!) this room was also very dusty. Communicating with the staff was difficult as they had very limited English. This is not a cheap option and despite attractive pictures on booking.com it is actually a tired hotel with poor staff, one of the worst places we stayed in a month travelling around Japan, I recommend you choose somewhere else. Aside from the hotel - it's worth knowing that barely any restaurants are open on Miyajima after the daytripping tourists have left, so stay somewhere which includes dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kikunoya was a wonderful hotel, the staff were so lovely and friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted. The room was really comfortable and clean and had all the facilities we needed. Breakfast was excellent and we loved that you had a choice of a western or Japanese breakfast, it was delicious. The location is fabulous as well, a short walk from all the shops and restaurants. The hotel also offers a shuttle service back to the ferry which is very useful.
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean, very quiet, location good
Cons: Expensive
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, nice onsen and very tasty Japanese style breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was amazing! The staff was super nice, the room huge. There is a wonderful onsen and the breakfast was really good. I would truly recommend it.
8.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Super handy location from the ferry, it was easy to walk. The staff were very kind and welcoming, perfect place if you're on a budget.
Cons: It was very loud in the shared dorm in the morning -and did not smell great. No curtains for the windows - which makes for an early rise at 5.30am.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great bar. Great selection of proper food. Breakfast. And dinner. 1 minute walk to the ferry and station so really convenient. Helpful staff
Cons: The drunk woman (no idea if guest or staff) and older man who loud, crude and embarrassing at midnight in the common living area. Making one way conversation with the only other guest there. With weird innuendoes on how the man is her father... And it's supposed to funny as she's also handsy with him. (Cause incest is funny
8.0 Excellent
Pros: very friendly staff and good vibe in a great location for visting Miyajima. Pity the weather was bad and we couldn't enjoy the rooftop patio
Cons: It wasn't clear in the booking information that the room we booked was open to the bunk room (and hence noisy and light)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location right next to ferry to Miyajima. Really close from JR station. Awesome staff. Cozy cool vibe at the bar/common room. Veggie curry/rice for 200 yens. Luggage lockers. Laundry facilities.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful location on Miyajima Island! Everything about our suite was gorgeous, and the staff were extremely accommodating especially with our included meals. As tattooed westerners we wanted to experience our own private ryokan and this suite gave us that opportunity and it was amazing. We were sad to leave and wish we had booked a longer stay.
Cons: Nothing at all.
7.9 Good
Pros: More hotel like than my other nights but friendly and well run, I stayed after a visit to Hiroshima same day which had been quite upsetting, so this beautiful place helped me get back into balance and I walked up the mountain (quite strenuous if you don’t use ropeway) next day which worked wonders for my spirits
Cons: There was quite a walk from the ferry and I only found out but the free shuttle after I arrived, recommend a call because that walk with luggage is quite uphill
9.2 Excellent
Pros: staff, hot springs; shuttle; location; quiet
Cons: inflexibility: arrived 2:10pm but could not check in until 3pm; wanted to add breakfast on departure day, but reservation required (for party of 1!); no dinner in hotel past 8pm

Cons: All good.

Cons: Earlier check in would be better, and if have onsen in room instead of normal water would be perfect.

Hatago Sakura - Hatsukaichi - Building
1
9.5 Excellent (265 reviews)
Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can't say enough good things about our stay at Hatago Sakura. We chose to go for the package that included dinner and breakfast. Both meals more than lived up to the Two Michelin Stars that the chef has. The level of pride in every dish that was served, the knowledge and friendliness of the people taking care of us during our meals was also fantastic. The room was also extremely comfortable, spacious and the private bath is a definite bonus. The hotel is located in an incredibly scenic area with beautiful views of the Miyajima mountains and the bay. It was a welcome change of pace from the busier city. Our only regret was that we did not spend another night or two there. I would very much recommend Hatago Sakura It is an excellent opportunity to get a taste of exceptional Kyoto kaiseki cuisine and try out onsen style bathing. I would like to thank the owners and staff who took such good care of us during our stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, wonderful service and excellent dinner - and the price corresponds. Faultless.
Cons: Outdoor bath was just that, not an onsen - but outdoor and with direct view to Miyajima.

And we choose a Japanese breakfast...and it was great! You should try this experience. Best place ever. We would defenetly stay there again! Thank you soooo much for everything.
Cons: Is not written in any place that you have to make an anticipate reservation to eat in the 2 Michelin stars restaurant. So, if you want to eat there, don't forget to make a reservation!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean n nicely decorated room with separate sitting area and private outdoor onsen in yr room. Excellent service and very good breakfast. Worth the money if you are willing to pay a little more.

The breakfast buffet was just as delicious. Fantastic value for your money, we can't wait to come back!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The buffet style dinner and breakfast were amazing. The onsen was a unique experience. Staying on the island meant we could beat all tourists arriving to the island to complete all activities without the crowds. The rooms are very spacious and was well worth the price we paid.
Cons: The mountain view room really just looked out onto bushes which was a little disappointing.

Pros: We had an absolutely beautiful tatami room with a balcony overlooking the sea with the ferry port within sight. The facility is spotless. The staff was very kind and helpful. It was a beautiful and peaceful stay.
Cons: The room is over the front porch where people smoked, so we could smell smoke from our room on the 4th floor.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location close to the floating shrine and the sea-view facing room. It was nice to have a cup green tees before checking out.
Cons: The price and small bathroom and toilet
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked the room with balcony facing the street, it was big, spacious and clean. They got extra mattresses and pillows, so I actually doubled up for better comfort. Staff is attentive, well english speaking and helpful. Just outside they have a little oyster store. A decent breakfast and easy to reach from the station to street food on the left. It's a wonderful location with Japanese Onsen room & public bath experiences. A little costly on weekends.
Cons: Nothing much with the Hotel but it's more of the Island itself. Everything is dead by 6pm, limited food restaurants, the ship on comes in like every 45 minutes after 7pm. So, you might want to consider staying in Hiroshima and travel to the island by day to help you save cost.

Pros: We loved everything, especially the onsen, swimming pool, jacuzzi and the japanese style room with futons. They lend you yukatas, pajamas and slippers. The staff were really helpful and the location is great.
Cons: A bit too expensive, but it is worth sleeping on Miyajima island and get to explore it before/after the crowds.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by the staff at this Japanese style hotel, invited to take our shoes off and pick out yukatas so we could comfortable in our room. They put our street shoes in the lockers at the door so they would be available when we wanted to go out. We had pajamas to wear as well. The best thing about this place was public bath for women. There is a separate one for men, too. The showers and baths were so clean and inviting. There is a terrace bath too. Equally as nice. This is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. There are massages available and saunas too. Japanese breakfast is delicious. This was a treasure!
Cons: Nothing.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Food was not at all good. Coffee horrible. Dark place. Japanese room a joke
