It is very traditional Japanese ryokan! Located on the hill off the mountain, close to many attraction of Hakone, and relly close to the cable car station. The facilities was good, huge hot spring tub.
The way to come to the Ryokan may trigger for those who travel bag-packing, since Google Map does not show how to get there using Hakone Cable car from Gora station. A good tip is to come first in Hakone-Yumoto station, take the bus to Gora station. Then use the cable car to the Naka-Gora station, which is 2 mins walk away from the Ryokan. Buying "Hakone free pass" would save you a lot of fees. And they also collect you a small amount of "bath tax", which is 150yen/day/person after you check-out. They did not mention anything about this at first, so that is annoying. Remember to ask them about this! Overall, good stay, really recommend it.
Great location and clean and good English talking staff
Rooms were spacious and and clean. We were also given access to a private onsen when usually, you would need to pay ¥3000 for 45 mins. The private onsen was ready for us at our booked slot and breakfast (as well as dinner) were fantastic.
I liked the hotel and decorative pieces to it. The onsen was good. The room were spacious enough to fit in the family with the futons. The breakfast was very nice. Really enjoyed the offering.
The hotel is a hike to get to. The only way was to walk a steep hill for 10 mins from the closest bus stop. Thankfully i did not bring huge luggages. Not many places to eat nearby unless you decide to walk down the hill and come up. A little exercise indeed.
- nice onsen - traditional japanese ryokan
- the hotel is quite old - you cannot have a breakfast unless you book it the day before! - the checkin is late: 3PM - the staff let us carry our luggage by hand up the big long stairs to access the hotel (we had asked for help), and didn’t tell us there was a path just behind where you can roll your luggage, without stairs. That’s definitely not a good service! - the kimono provided looks quite old
