A small, seemingly old hotel, with great staff and a great view to the glacier and overall :) There is a bus that picks you up right outside the hotel (Line 5 - "Stein") and takes you to the Finkenberger Almbahnen gondola, which has to be preordered the day before though, before 21:00 (the staff will very conveniently do that for you - the return bus doesn't have to be preordered). Breakfast was pretty basic, both variety-wise and quality-wise - to be honest I had kind of higher expectations from an Alpine hotel - but it was still breakfast, served in a beautiful sunlit room, with awesome views from the windows :) The 1-person room I stayed at was fine, the view from the window/balcony was simply stunning as well. Hats off to the staff which was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful, they made me feel right at home, explained everything I needed to know regarding the area/transportation/etc, they would arrange the ski bus for me every day, and in general we had a pretty pleasant and friendly interaction the whole time I stayed at the hotel.
I have 2 negative points to make (I visited purely for skiing): The first one is that breakfast was starting at 07:30 AM, which I found sadly a bit late, as it made it impossible for one to be on the slopes as early as possible (the first lifts at the ski resort would open at 08:00 AM I believe). The second one would be about the location - if you don't have a car you will be a tad bit limited: The hotel is a good 15 to 20 min walk from the nearest bus station (named "Teufelsbrücke"), and mind you it is quite an uphill route - let's just say it's probably not the most ideal activity after a full day on the slopes :P Bus-wise, the first ski bus in the morning leaves at 08:40 AM (and arrives at the gondola 5 mins later), and the latest one to return to the hotel leaves at 17:00 from the Finkenberger Almbahnen gondola. This schedule pretty much takes away the possibility to do stuff like have a dinner at a restaurant, or have a beer or two in a bar after skiing, etc, in general to do anything outside the hotel after 17:00, unless you are prepared to go back on foot (or unless money is not an issue for you and you return by taxi). If you are prepared to go for the go back on foot option (and decide to spend your afternoons at the Mayrhofen town after skiing, for example - at least that's what I decided to do), the latest bus to Finkenberg from the Mayrhofen Penkenbahn was around 19:15.
Really nice staff, beautiful location (the ski bus every morning makes it really easy to get to the lifts and the high up location is beautiful), tasty dinners and decent breakfast. Overall we had an amazing stay.
Only minor things, but the hotel in general could do with a bit of a deep clean (bathroom extractor fan full of dust, light shades a bit dusty) and maybe some modernizing/ tidying (the boot room was a bit messy). These things didn't impact negatively on our holiday but are just easy ways to make the hotel a more luxurious experience for guests.
A great family run hotel with Daniela & George as excellent hosts. A home away from home. We took the half board option, good selection at breakfast and freshly cooked 4 course dinner menu in the evenings. A great place for families and our children got on so well with the owner’s children. We had our own vehicle but free ski bus was available. Ski passes could also be bought onsite. Thank you so much we hope to return x
The location was great, the breakfast and coffee were very good, friendly staff
Stunning location Really friendly owners Brilliant breakfast Nice lounge ambiance on an evening, relaxing and stunning view Rooms were really clean Owners couldn't do enough for you, really made you feel welcome and made a difference for me
If it's snowing, you'll need a 4x4 with snow tyres to access the hotel. I didn't, "not like it",its just an observation Parking was restrictive, but it was adequate.
