Breakfast was great
Comfortable cosy room with a lot of space, nice bed and good shower. Location is about 5-10 min walk to the mainstreet and lots of nice restaurants are close. Nice breakfast with pancakes (only sweets).
Everything was good for me. WiFi works fine but needs to refresh every several minutes :)
Location! The building is charming, the staff was very friendly, as well as the guys who own the restaurant. I liked the rustic room we had, but it surely needs to be renovated and pimped up. (It wouldn’t need to be expensive with some small and clever hacks). If they take the following critic seriously and fixes the things that really annoyed me (I mean it’a year 2020 now), I would surely come back, bc the hotel is sweet and charmy.
-Breakfast was terrible. You think in areas were people do tough hikes, it would be porridge, grain bread, müsli, cheese....no, here they serve...pancakes (?!), dry sponge bread with jam, sour ”orange” concentrate as ”juice”, yoghurt that isn’t yoghurt but condensed milk (?!) with only corn flakes to add on it. This breakfast is so horribly unhealthy and untasty, they could just skip it. You also get a small, ransioned portion of (cold) scrambled eggs. Fixing up a new HEALTHY breakfast is a very simple step to get better reviews. - The wifi is very medieval. They say you have to log in every 30th minute, yet I was thrown out of the net every 5th minute! Had to restart the phone about 50times during our stay there. That is really something that could EASILY be fixed if the owner bothered to care. (Bars and restaurants in El Calafate have far more speed than this hotel). -Blinders for the windows, maybe? As it is now there are some pointless rags posing as curtains hanging for the windows, letting in exactly every ray of sun and light available. We had to patch it with towels to be able to sleep. -More towels. Women in general use 2 big towels, one for the body and one for the hair. So my suggestion is to give 3 big towels, 2 small and 1 floor towel.
Common areas are very nice. Breakfast is pretty good, especially considering the price. The travel agency at the hotel is super good. The "alternative tour" of Perito Moreno was really fun. They also arranged for the bus to El Chalten to picks us up directly at the hotel. Fun and friendly atmosphere.
Our room was on the ground floor and had a small window and little natural light. No frills but everything we needed was there. The bathroom was very clean but the floor could have been cleaned better.
I liked the location (I walked to the hotel from the bus terminal with a big duffel back and backpack and that was doable). Near the city center but also near the terminal. Kind staff and you can plan a lot of excursions from there. Room was really clean and I really appreciated the hairdryer. Also cosy; liked the wooden ambiance. Breakfast was good. Don’t expect special style eggs or something like that, but there are nice pancakes, yoghurts and orange juice. And they offer a shuttle service to the airport (only $400 pp), which was perfect in time.
Couldn’t regulate the temperature in the room (kind of hot, floor heather was permanently on).
