The room, the breakfast and the cook Good, genuine food perfectly cooked and served! Very quiet location, near to many interesting places.
Lovely hosts very friendly and thoughtful touches in the room homemade biscuits and chocolates . Breakfast was the best we had excellent . Will definitely be back loved it !!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Post Office. The rooms were very comfortable and beautifully decorated and the breakfast was divine! The whole property had such a lovely vibe about it. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful garden area. I couldn't recommend this property more, the hosts were so helpful, I would stay here again in a heart beat.
guests super friendly. room very spacious and perfectly furnished. cosy atmosphere. outstanding breakfast. hope to be back soon!
Brilliant! Room was lovely. Nice decor. View of garden from our window in Penny Red room. Comfy chairs. Well stocked hospitality tray - don't think they could have got anything else on it! Bottles of fresh milk stored in cooler on landing wall. Lots of little touches like wine glasses/opener if you wanted to enjoy a drink in your room. Also chocolates and home made biscuits, torch, iron/board, plenty of storage space, tv, magazines. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Good sized bathroom with large shower, plenty of toiletries, and gowns provided. All areas very clean. Breakfast (cooked by Keith) was delicious and filling and served in their lovely dining room. Had muesli, fresh orange, pot of tea and full english (other choices available) - local sausage/bacon/bread/marmalade, together with eggs from Keith's 'girls' at the bottom of the garden, strawberries and blueberries to finish and we were set for the day. Comfy lounge with plenty of info and reading material. Seating outside at back and down in the garden. Keith and Pauline are very approachable and a really lovely down to earth couple, and we hope to stay with them again. Lanchester village is nice and tidy and has a village green, several shops, couple of pubs and a good choice of restaurants including Italian, Greek, and Crinnions (local butchers) eaterie. Village busy during day/evening and quiet at night. Well worth visiting and within easy reach are Beamish open air museum (give yourself 1-2 days to see everything) and Durham (used park and ride £2 each) to visit cathedra/riverside.
Nothing comes to mind.
