The Explorean was like a little piece of heaven on earth! There's an overall peaceful, relaxing vibe. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you want. Everyone was so friendly! The grounds are clean and beautiful, the beds comfortable, great shower, and excellent food and drinks. The fish taco stand next to the ocean was so delicious and just a lovely place to sit and look at the water. We had lunch there every day. Snorkeling and swimming were fantastic as well. I can't think of a single thing I was unhappy with. We bought a trial membership in the vacation club because we know that we will definitely go back, more than once! We got a great deal, the presentation wasn't too long, and actually interesting - learning a bit about vacation spots all over the world. They gave us a super discounted Jeep rental and a free massage at the spa for attending. Well worth it! I think we've found our tropical home-away-from-home....
There was literally nothing that I didn't like. The Explorean is absolutely fabulous!
Overall it was a good experience, however I believe they could have more activities as it is their signature. They only had 1 activity daily and they where not too good. The restaurant at thee Explorean is pretty good and so is the beach club at Fiesta Americana event though their food is average! Not sure if I was a 100% happy with the all inclusive but it was a nice experience. I'm a type of person who likes to go out and discover weird and wonderful places and to be seating in a lounge eating hot dogs and premixed cocktails all day isn't my thing.
The room was freezing!!! The air conditioning turns on by itself I also wasn't too happy about that they told us we had 24h room service at check in and when we tried to order they said they didn't offer it so a bit of miscommunication between staff , not sure what happened there.
The Location: This hotel is located away from the central tourist area, in a relaxing/hideaway just across the street from the beach. The jungle vibe of the area really provided for great privacy. The Staff: possibly the best staff from any hotel I've ever visited. Roberto was the most attentive of the team, constantly going out of his way to get my fiance and me food, drinks, reservations, and connections for interesting events. Thank you Roberto!!! Arturo, Hector, Luis, and Anayeli were also very helpful waiters. Hostess Dianeli and Chef Daniel were great as well. The Excursions: I was quite impressed that these daily activities were free/included in the stay. We went snorkeling, kayaking, visited the beach on the other side of the island, bike riding, visited a cenote sweat lodge (beautiful spiritual experience) and more. They also didn't have a tourist-trap feel of pushing us to spend money (although we did).
The Explorean Cozumel is connected to the Fiesta Americana hotel. The Fiesta Americana was more targeted to families and I thought the Explorean was more fun for adults. It could be better as an adults-only location. Some days the weather got so intense that the activities were canceled, which isn't a negative about the hotel, just a negative in general. It was slightly frustrating that they didn't accept US Dollars, but they did have an ATM machine. We visited during New Years 2020 and bought tickets to the NYE Party. We did hear multiple prices for the ticketed event and that was a little frustrating and confusing.
Everything else, especially the super friendly staff, the rooms in general, the possibility to access everything in Fiesta Americana and the tours included! But please invest some money and get rid of the mold!
This hotel had a really strong mold smell. The staff was supportive and sent the cleaning staff to reclean the room again - there was still a smell noticeable everytime I entered, however I felt like it was only somewhere around the entrance and I could live with it. I heard from other guests that they had the same issues, so I was not the only one. The worst part revealed only when I got back home: Despite staying only three nights at the hotel, three weeks after my return I can still smell the mold on some of the clean clothes I brought home as well as on the luggage back home. Even though I was very happy with everything else this hotel had to offer, I feel like this is definitely not acceptable for such a hotel! So be aware of this issue!
Roberto, poolside, was phenomenal. Appreciated the breakfast basket by the door in the morning.
Was not made aware that the breakfast basket would be delivered. It was wasted the first morning. Surprised that the dining and beverage venues closed as early as they did,
