The mattress and pillows were hard.
Loved it, great staff, wonderful room, great view from my room, loved the bathroom, was able to keep my car parked there even after i checked out, plus I could still use the sundeck and a bathroom area to change clothes. Fabulous stay.
It turned out we were assigned a room on the second floor overlook the parking lot. The view out the front sliding door looked on a wall. Although it was tastefully appointed, it was dark and felt like we walked into a cave. It is off season on a Sunday night. Every motel in Cape May had signs advertising vacancies. There were many vacancies at the Montreal with ocean view rooms. We requested a different room. We were moved to the 3rd floor with a balcony and ocean view but were taken aback when we were uncharged $50 per night for a room that otherwise would have remained vacant. The hotel had very few occupied rooms unlike during the summer season when it’s often impossible to get a room here or any property in Cape May. The rooms on either side of us were unoccupied. In fact, we only encountered a few other guests. The bar and restaurant were closed during our stay due to low occupancy but we did not know this when we made our reservation further adding to my opinion that we should have been upgraded at no additional charge or at least a reduced rate. On a positive note, the hotel did provide a free continental breakfast because the restaurant wasn’t open. We chose the Montreal because we stayed there in the past and enjoyed that there is a restaurant and cocktail lounge onsite. I think the front desk staff would have generated good will by moving us at no additional charge since the hotel was empty during our stay. I will remember this experience and it will affect if this property will be my first choice in the future.
The up charge for a different room and no prior notice that the restaurant was closed.
Loved the pool and the food.
Beds are uncomfortable Room was tight and dark
