Not much honestly. Leaving Calais.
Desk clerk was a bit smug. He acted like we should have known that there was nothing available in Calais. The streets roll up at 6:00pm. The only "restaurant" was the bowling alley. We paid 106 Euros and breakfast was not included.
Location handy for Eurotunnel
Paid extra for breakfast however they do not cater for those who have gluten and lactose intolerance waste of money paying for breakfast I refund was offered
Convenient for car ferry
No tea coffee facilaties Room had a smell to it not sure if it was from smoker Pillow small only one
Nothing, it was like a 1970s detention facility
The property was very old and poorly maintained. Everywhere smelled of human excrement and cheap air freshener spray. On arrival we were told that the triple room we booked and paid for wasn’t available as we would have a double room for the same price. The room was small with very old brown carpet and bed cover. The only way to ventilate the room was to open the window which only opened wide open and it was on the ground floor where anyone could easily get in through the window. The bathroom was old and stained. There was a chair but it was IN the wardrobe, with nowhere else for it. The soundproofing was terrible and we could hear every movement and bodily function of guests upstairs and on either side. The car park is not secured by a gate. We felt a bit sick with its filthy smell and threatened by the atmosphere. We didn’t sleep because the bed and finishes were so small and grotty and the place was so noisy because of the lack of soundproofing.
It was cheap and convenient from the ferry. Free parking.
I don't think the name of the hotel is very obvious- we found it difficult to find late at night after catching a late ferry; and the name we'd booked under didn't mention Baladins which is the actual name of the hotel. We didn't sleep well at all, but we probably had the worst room as it was next to reception and as such could hear the door banging all night from people coming and going. We were also stationed next to the communal toilet and could hear an awful lot of "noises".... The room didn't feel that clean as the linen felt a bit damp.
