I had been travelling for work for 6 days and stayed in 4 different hotels from Brisbane to Cairns and couldn't have asked for a better finish to my trip. Cons: Our room was noisy especially on the weekend, a lot of road noise with traffic and drunk people on the street. Disappointed with our view, we booked a room thinking we would have expansive water views, however we mainly saw trees and the road. We were on the third level.

Cons: The buffet breakfast that came with the room was more than a "little tired." It was fast asleep. The pancakes and waffles were mealy and inedible. The so-called sausages were mini-hot dogs. The "to order" section was grossly understaffed so lines were long waiting for eggs to order.

Cons: Having stayed here a number of times I have noticed a gradual decline in the facilities. The carpets are showing signs of wear and are wrinkled from constant cleaning. There were chips in the bath/shower. In addition the pillows were too soft and the bed tooled around because there was no lock on the wheels. In addition I had dinner in the restaurant which for $42 served up steak frits with the blandest steak I have ever eaten, soft kipfler chips and a tiny limp lettuce. Needless to say I ate elsewhere for the rest of my stay

Cons: 1.The rooms were very dated didn felt like it was a 5star hotel.rooms were like a 3star hotel.run down. 2.there wasnt any exhaust fan in the bathroom/toilet . the toilet and bathroom both being together there should be an exhaust to flush out the air and steam . 3. my daughter spilled some chips on the floor and some on the side table(on day 1 or day 2 ).room service didn clean chips pieces from the side table the whole time we stayed the chips pieces were still lying on the side table(though the room was cleaned everyday i wonder how the room cleaner didn saw it). 4. we have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels there was always toothpaste and brush (dental set) in the bathroom.we didn get ours coz we thought we would get one. big disappointment.

Cons: I have a bad experience the day before leaving the hostel. One staff ex-member was having sex in a mixed dorm with ten roommates. It was a nightmare because they were very noisy and disrespectful. Another drawback was the cleanliness but is difficult to keep a hostel perfect all the time. The microwave has never been cleaned.

Cons: But there was something missing. It was more party then I taught, so I think it was more the people in my room that didn’t made my stay perfect. And most of the staff was acting popular. I think I had one normal conversation with a staff member (the guy from reception), but the rest didn’t even smile.

Pros: We wanted to be able to relax and unwind at our first destination in Australia, this was definitely the place, the pool was very relaxing and the sunrise on the marina side was breathtaking. They had our room ready and allowed us to check in early. They also had complementary champagne and chocolates upon arrival. They also upgraded our room to a higher level so we had a better view of the bay. The location is with in walking distance to everything, including the ferries at the marina. All in all one of the best parts of our stay was the staff, they were all so welcoming, accommodating and extremely pleasant (esp Kelly and Luke!). I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: We wanted to be able to relax and unwind at our first destination in Australia, this was definitely the place, the pool was very relaxing and the sunrise on the marina side was breathtaking. They had our room ready and allowed us to check in early. They also had complementary champagne and chocolates upon arrival. They also upgraded our room to a higher level so we had a better view of the bay. The location is with in walking distance to everything, including the ferries at the marina. All in all one of the best parts of our stay was the staff, they were all so welcoming, accommodating and extremely pleasant (esp Kelly and Luke!). I would definitely stay here again.

After complaining, we were moved to another room which although didn't have our preferred bed choice at least smelt clean, I do feel that the first room we were given shouldn't have been allocated as it tarnished our arrival.

Cons: Apparently when we booked online and paid and our booking was accepted we were under charged by 90 cents. On checkout we were asked to pay it. The staff member was not very apologetic about what a nonsense this was. It wasn`t our mistake and such a paltry amount. Disappointing.

Cons: Evidently the room had just been "refreshed" however the bathroom was extremely dated with cheap metal fittings that reminded me of my early days in the Army.
The layout of the room was bizarre to say the least so much so that you would have to turn your head 90 degrees to watch the TV from the bed. The air conditioning is pre-set to 25 degrees Celsius which in the wet season is not sufficient and the room is hot, this is not an acclimatization issue as we are from North Queensland and we found it oppressive to the point we had to have both the fan and air conditioning on at the same time to be comfortable.

(Not enough staff at front desk) Leak from above room onto our balcony meant half of the small balcony was unusable. restaurant didn't really offer gluten free /vegan options nor for breakfast and when I inquired staff were uncertain what was GF or not ( eg hot chips cooked in oil with other gluten products is not gluten free for those with coeliac disease. This cannot by definition be listed on the menu as GF)

Cons: Its over price for the facilities. Photos are over rated. The beds were uncomfortable. Blankets were itchy. Share bathoom only had 1 toilet and shower in the same cubicle. Not separated. Had to wait for everyone to finish before you can use the toilet if someone is using the shower.

Cons: The first room we were given was a disappointment. Despite booking several months ago, the room did not have a bathroom but we were expected to use a communal bathroom down the hall which only had one shower, one toilet and one wash basin. The room was very small and looked on to the busy main street. However the staff changed the room when asked to a very satisfactory one.

Cons: It was amazing to find that the shower was broken and had not been seen to before you rented the room. We had to go down the passage and use the disabled which was very poorly designed and water flooded the floor out into the passage. Of course we did not know this would happen and so our clothes became wet. Very inconvenient. We live in the Tablelands so we need to use a hotel when flying out. Sorry but our stay was not a happy one this time. EDNA & GRAHAME WEST.

Cons: It was very dirty. There where a lot of very drugged up guest which made it extremely uncomfortable to be around the facility when it was late. The rooms need a really good clean. There where ants in the sink, ash that had not been vacuumed from previous guests, the blinds had all sorts of brown stains and the shower curtains had mold on it.

Cons: The shower would flood the whole bathroom, my room was in the perfect location, but on my first night I was alarmed by lots of little cockroaches that came out, I think from the microwave and fridge. Other than that, I found it peaceful surroundings. It's the second time I have stayed here in a month. Both times I went to the night markets and returned to no car parks available, both times I had to park my car across the road. Sorry I didn't get the chance to tell the staff, they were all pleasant and professional.

Cons: Meh. Spartan, to say the least. The beds were very uncomfortable and the A/C made a lot of noise, but barely cooled the room. The rooms were pretty worn and shabby. The breakfast lady was guarding the place like the queen's crown jewels were under the towel, but it was nothing more than 2 or 3 different kinds of packaged, sliced bread and a couple of jam packets. There was milk and juice and water, though, and a couple of different kinds of breakfast cereal. No fruit or biscuits or muffins or anything else that would normally be included with a continental breakfast. Very limited, cramped parking. However, we didn't pay that much for the room, so in all I think it served its purpose for the night. Probably wouldn't stay there again unless I was alone and just needed a cheap place to crash. Think of it as a Hostel and you won't be disappointed when you walk in. Be advised that a "Family Shared Room" doesn't mean just that the family all sleeps in one room (which was fine) but also means that you are sharing a bathroom with about 4 other rooms.

Cons: The budget rooms are REALLY budget. They do not feel secure at all. They are clean, but really need some work. The "superior" rooms are far more comfortable. The doors lock :) I can't fault the staff or cleanliness, but the older section is not recommended for families.
