"It’s a 5min walk from a subway station that’s 15mins into Lower Manhattan." | (in 1 review) |
Handsome building over 100 years old. The integrity of the building has been left in tact, so the room sizes are a little odd, but worth the atmosphere. Lovely back garden sitting area. Excellent hostess. I'll stay here again.
We've stayed in Manhattan loads of times, so fancied trying somewhere a little different. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but very pleasantly surprised. It’s a 5min walk from a subway station that’s 15mins into Lower Manhattan. The local area also feels very safe, even in the dark, early hours of the morning. I would also have to add that the lady who owns/runs the guest house is absolutely lovely and very helpful with suggestions that only the ‘locals’ are likely to know about and very knowledgeable about the local community, which is brilliant. Give it a go if you want to experience something different to the typical Times Square budget hotel or international student hostel. Great flavour of what life is like “living in Brooklyn”.
This was a beautiful old house, very nicely decorated with antiques and original art. The owner, Zenobia, was very warm and kind, and took good care of us. We had a comfortable, pleasant stay.
This is a very informal, very freindly place to stay. You will arrive and wonder if you`ve made a big mistake-HOWEVER-you will leave being glad you booked. After spending each day in Manhatten it was great to get back to a real community. This is real Brooklyn-NOT the upmarket version at the Brooklyn Bridge area. We found the location very convenient. If we go to ny again we will stay here--that says it all.Not perfect, but more than adequate.Owner/manager(Zenobia), very freindly & helpful.
Not a lover of shared bathrooms or connecting doors between other rooms even though they`re locked.Nothing at this hotel would stop me from using it again. Your initial reactions to this area & hotel will mislead you-I was scared-but could not have been more wrong.Used all the local amenities, day & night & felt safe & secure. No signs up to say this is a hotel.Us British would refer to this as a b&b, or a Boarding House.
staff was very friendly, rooms were nice, quiet.
I liked the house and Xenobia (the owner) was lovely; the decor was good. I would go back for sure. (NB this is written by Olly Meller-Herbert, for whom I booked this room. I did not stay there myself; Rachel Meller)
Very friendly and helpful owner. Decent rooms, good value for money if you do not mind sharing bathroom with other guests. Good connection to Manhattan by metro (25 minutes, station about 250 metres).
I liked very much the kindness of people and the friendly atmosphere. Also the neighborrood of the hotel is cool
far from manhattan center. No toilets in the room
A lovely b&b in brooklyn. Very good friendly hostess, great room with very comfortable bed. Very close to Manhattan and centrally located in brooklyn with beautifull prospect park around the corner.
What a pleasant surprise! A handsome turn-of-the-century town house on a tree lined street, a short distance from downtown Manhattan. The rooms are nicely furnished, the host is personable and seeks to make the guest comfortable. One has to climb stairs, but that is a small price to pay for the charming atmosphere.
NO!
Charming B&B. Felt like I was staying with friends even though I was traveling alone. Incredibly personal service. Charming rooms. Quiet house in easy access to all of NYC & Brooklyn. I highly reccommend this place!
