Stayed in the Japanese style room, absolutely love it, found the floor mats really comfy and loved the robes. Onsen was great.
Would have like more breads/yoghurts at breakfast
Firstly, you must visit this area if you spend time in Japan. Forget the city bussle, this is a stunning geological wonderland, and awe inspiring. The hotel has it's own onsen baths, seperate for men and women, small individual or communal, all included and open virtually 24/7, with Yakatans provided for your stay and towels as needed. Breakfast buffet at around £10 is a must, the supper at around £50 we couldnt justify, so did not try sadly. A great base to explore in the car or by bicycle, a cyclists paradise i'd say, considerate drivers on quiet roads, switchbacks galore. We stayed 3 nights.
Location currently is tricky due to rebuilding on one access road, and the town is quite quiet and not many restaurants. The cost of the buffet supper, maybe it includes alcohol which is why it;s steep.
staff very friendly
this hotel is now a little dated and tired for the price
The breakfast was great, there was a good and diverse selection
The carpets in the corridor outside the room need repair
Staff were fine. Parking on site for free and good location.
The property needed an update many years ago, and is very run down. Staff are friendly, but facilities are very old and the rooms were in serious need of a refresh.
