The location was a block from La Rambla and a block and a bit from the harbour. There were plenty of eateries and pharmacies close by. There was a metro station within less than a 5 minute walk, and this made all of Barcelona as well as the train station and airport easy to get to. The coffee machine looked like it would be horrible, but made the best and cheapest cafe au lait I've had in awhile.
Where to start? Yes, it's January and it can get colder in Barcelona. But, the heater supplied in the room did not work nor were there any extra blankets to be had. Bare feel on cold tile floor is no joy. One overhead fluorescent light for the room - it was either on or off........no way to read without blinding yourself. The guests appeared to be quiet - but early mornings were shattered by the sound of the cleaning staff - loud voices and ringing telephones. The shared bathrooms and "tea station" are right in the middle of the first floor, so you hear everyone on their way out, past the main desk. If we had known, we would have asked for a room on another floor. Accessing the main desk is not for the faint of heart or those with any sort of disability.....3 flights of marble stairs - and then an elevator......for other floors.
Only good thing about this hostal is the location.
Inept management, extremely rude and unprofessional staff, management could not care less if their receptionists act unprofessionally and rude. The place could be lovely if the management is changed with hospitality professionals who actually know how international hospitality works and care to do their job.
Very unpleasant owner! Everything broken and 1 shower for 25 rooms. Don't go there!!!
The property is extremely well located and you can find a lot of good restaurants and bars ! The metro station is only 3 mins walking
The beds , the constant noise and for someone with allergies the dust
Location is excellent. The place is at the heart of the center. No problem with all means of transportation.
