Pros: Just the quality, history and splendour of the building is fascinating in itself, and that alone is worth going to stay at Craig's. There are some parts of the hotel that are dated (ironically, given how old it is), such as the restaurant and bar area, but the rooms are splendid and a walk through the hallways is splendid. The food for breakfast and dinner in the main dining room was lovely, and we really enjoyed everything we ate. DO STAY HERE.

Cons: The service was good, but it really could be better and made to be part of the experience overall. Everyone we met were friendly and professional, but still there was something missing for such a grand, old hotel. The bar was nice for a drink, but really lacked atmosphere, and again there are missed opportunities in terms of the decor and mood. The hotel is currently on the market, and hope the new owners maintain its history and quality, while giving it a new identity and modernise the style a bit.

Cons: 930am Sunday morning the manager knocked on the door to tell me we had half an hour to 'get out' as he had another booking for the room and had paid extra for an early check in!!! On check in I was told its a Sunday check out so 11am is fine for check out. Disappointed that we paid a fair not brilliant price and then get kicked out early. Promised the kids a swim in the pool but it was locked up and unavailable

The pool is far smaller then it’s picture, and the family rooms are very poky in size to. We had 4 in the room but could sleep 5, not sure how you’d go with that many in there.

Cons: 3 things: 1: The shower did not have a ledge or soap holder. Which means when you go into the shower, what the heck. The cost to provide this is a few dollars. 2: Shower head was leaking so the water didn't spray well. Needs attention. 3: We stayed Sunday night - At 5am the Rubbish Truck came to empty the bins outside and the noise was just horrific. This happened not just once but 5:30 and again at 6am.

Cons: The room was cold and I was instructed not to put the heater above 21c otherwise the system would shut down. There was a pool which was adequate for some exercise but the doors and windows were rusted open so it the room it was in was freezing. The tiled floors around the pool were dirty.

Pros: The bathroom was very clean and I liked the way the kids beds where either side of the main bed. That worked well for us otherwise my boys be silly and won’t go to sleep if they are too close together. The room was presented very well. The outside looks quite dated but I must say I was extremely surprised at how nice the room was, how comfy the beds were and the shower and water pressure was just what we needed after being cold at the racetrack all day. We would definitely book here again and the pub next door was great too! THANK YOU

My only gripe would be I was left disappointed with the food. I read many reviews before booking and most reviews said the food was good, unfortunately I cannot say the same. No table service for evening meals and the food was only average. Apart from that, location was great and there are plenty of restaurants close by where you can share your money around town!!

Very disappointed that we werent informed of that before we arrived especially when it was booked a fair time ago. When mentioned that to reception and was advised that they do if booked through their website, not if another site takes the booking. Pretty poor !

Cons: The furnishings were dated. The fridge was very noisy. The split system remote did not work. Finally worked out I had to stand on the bed and reach up to manually turn the heater on. The lights above the bed were faulty. When attempting to change the direction of the light it would flicker and then go off as if there was a connection fault. This continued whenever it was touched. There was a lack of staff at reception on check out at 8:00 in the morning. There were two staff members in a room behind reception acting as though there was no-one waiting. One would only come out if you pressed the bell even though they knew you were there. Due to the amount of people leaving at that time I ended up leaving my key in my room and just left. I will not stay here again.
