Miriam at the Avignon RentACar counter was an absolute delight to deal with and our experience was boosted by her professionalism and good humour above and beyond what we were expecting. The car was great, clean and very well presented as well as easy to drive. We would definitely rent from RentACar Avignon again, especially if Miriam is still there.

It was quite a wait in heat. The queue was a bit long and due to time of day and amount of people, shade was somewhat minimal. Check in employees were courteous and quick.

Drop off was in Lyon at train Station Perrache. Almost imposible to find and to get to. be advised if you have never been there do your homework to find the drop off No Sign for Avis.

Pros: Drop-off very easy.
Cons: The car they provided was very different than the car I reserved. I reserved a Mercedes Benz C-class. When I arrived, they told me that they don't stock any Mercedes Benz sedans. So, this wasn't an instance where the car was rented to someone else; they just didn't have the car they advertised.

Pros: It was a new car (Twingo) and small enough for handling the narrow roads of the cities and winding Vinyard single lane roads.
Cons: There were no road signs saying where to return the car at the large Lyon Parreche railway station. Very stressful.

Great car!
Pros: The lady was very helpful and was easy to communicate with given our language differences. Once we decided to get the GPS she upgraded the car to one with GPS built in rather than using a hand held unit.

Our Sales Rep, Jalel, was amazing! Couldn't have been more pleasant! He made the whole check out/check-in process very easy and was perfectly splendid! No issues whatsoever with the car. Returned it with no issues. However, an issue occurred with pymt. My total cost should've been $552 US dollars, including purchasing full coverage insurance. After the initial hold (including deposit) of $852 was released, Sixt tried to process a charge of $2388 US dollars!! Thankfully, this was declined by my card company. Maybe, my card was hacked and this was a fraudulent attempt. At the time of writing this review, I have not had time to research this issue but will. Outside of this pymt issue, I experienced no problems.

Pros: Our car was great and we loved driving around in it.
Cons: It took a while to pick up the car because there was computer system issue and they at first told us we didn’t have insurance and I had to show them the Allianz email that says “if the rental location tells you hat you don’t have insurance call this number”.

Cons: It appears they way overcharged me, by $1000. When we returned the car after the time they recalculated the bill at the highest rate rather than the extra day charges they told us about. They haven’t responded to telephone or email inquiries, so all I have is their email to me in Norwegian. Help!

Cons: Car available was not the car we had previously agreed. I was given a much smaller car as they refused to give me an upgraded car without significant more payment. However, they charged me the same for the smaller car without offering a discount.

Best car rental I've had in Europe
Pros: Budget at Avignon TGV, France provided superb customer service and a brand new car for my travel from southern France through Spain and back. Highest recommendation!!

Pros: The pick-up & drop off went smoothly & quickly.
Cons: The Fiat was smaller than the car I had reserved. It had both a automatic & standard transmission. I never figured it out. Two Frenchman tried to help me & gave up. It was a terrible car with no power.

Cons: There were no signs for Budget at Gare Avignon Which made finding them difficult We were told that a portable Wifi unit was needed and after choosing this option in was inoperable in the Area we were staying. Where we stayed was made clear to rental agent . Physical Maps had to be employed for the entire visit. Making navigation of Provence very difficult. No assistance was giving to locate Auto in parking lot During torrential downpour. Making pick up problematic .

Couldn't have done it without the GPS
Pros: I reserved the smallest standard transmission car and upgraded to a slightly larger model with a GPS which was comfortable, easy to drive and enabled us to navigate the very small roads in little towns in France. Many roads are poorly marked with the route signs so we couldn't have traveled without the GPS. Pick up and drop off went smoothly and the taxi stand (to get a cab to take us to the riverboat in Avignon) was just outside the rental agency's door.

The Europecar office is in a totally fenced lot at the opposite end of the lot from where their cars are parked. There is no one in the lot to direct traffic or assist in where to go or what to do regarding pick-up or drop-off.And the lot is all one-way so once you get close to the office, you have to have a code to exit and then do a roundabout circle in major traffic to get back into the lot. It was the worst experience ever in renting a car.
