Cons: Old rooms not so clean
7.1 Good
Pros: Good price for a private room with bathroom. Ok location. Friendly staff.
Cons: The cleanliness and the state of the room is shameful. The wallpaper is falling off, the window frame black from dirt or mold, the bathtub could use a real scrub, the faucet is leaking, but I am most disgusted by the trash and  dust underneath the bed. I sense no pride in the upkeep of this hotel. I am considering to request a partial refund.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - The staff were great! They were very accommodating to us. - Glad that the hotel lent humidifiers for free to the guests too. - The location was convenient. Right in the heart of the city, quite close to the station, and there was a convenient store downstairs.

Lamp No Yado Aoni Onsen - Aomori - Building
8
8.5 Excellent (596 reviews)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: What is not to like! This place is a wonderful and unusual experience. The lamplighting and the baths were lovely. The isolation of the onsen was special too.
Cons: It is hard for us to find things to be critical of at this establishment, though one small thing perhaps: for us taller North Americans, the yukatas were rather short, and for a place of its calibre a bit thin and skimpy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food, the scenery, authenticity.
Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great atmosphere, great location. The outdoor bath was amazing. It felt like stepping back in time, great to switch off from technology. Stepping into the hot water, while being surrounded by trees weighed down with snow was amazing.
Cons: The lamps create a great atmosphere, but it would have been nice to have enough light to read by.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The onsen, location, and food were spectacular.
Cons: The lamps are really cool, but you can’t turn off the lamp at night in your room which makes it hard to sleep.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything is great; the atmosphere, facilities, staff.
Cons: However, I couldn’t sleep much because they gave me the room right across the staircase. As the property is old, wooden building, it looks great but makes a lot of noise when people walk around on the corridor. My room was especially so because there were always people (including staff) talking and walking up and down the staircase.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hot spring.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The remote location, accessed by a twisting single-lane road for several kms, set this place apart from other onsen previously visited. This was enhanced by a large dump of snow overnight during the stay
Cons: N/A
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Secluded location, multiple baths with nice views, excellent food.
Cons: Little bit hard to get to without a car

Cons: If I have to say one thing, that might be the Wi-Fi connection which is not very stable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thoughtful staff, we stayed 4 nights and got really dedicated treatment. From little things like the room staff remembered the preference of more mattresses when setting up the futon on the following nights to the Chef specially preparing additional delicious dishes and there was no need to visit the buffet table. The breakfast and dinner buffet spread is fabulous as well. The sea view room is an excellent choice. Short walk from Asamushi-onsen station. Definitely for someone looking for time away from the crowds.
Cons: Nothing really, though most traditionally styled ryokan tend to be a bit worn down but the room is still very well maintained.

Pros: The Onsen was super nice and the view to the sea too... beside the hotel has a small Susie place which is very nice also recommended
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very big and beautiful room with nice sea view; good onsen; great hospitality! I love the kotatsu, it’s warm and comfortable and intelligent.
Cons: Nothing except that the umbrella at the gate was easily blown apart by the strong sea wind so I was drenched in the rain.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were attentive to every detail and were understanding of my poor Japanese. The bath has a nice outdoors which is tastefully decorated. The bath inside the room also uses Onsen hot water. Tatami is not scuffed and room is well maintained. Vending machine (tea, beer, etc) on 1F. 9F you can enjoy milk vendo after Onsen. 2 min walk from 浅虫温泉駅

9.6 Excellent
Pros: First Ryokan that has Yukatas in Westerner-size Nice bath, large breakfast Incredibly large rooms
Cons: Bathroom could be 10cm longer. Your knees literally hit the wall when you are on the toilet Still no sandals above size 41 (EU)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was so filling and absolutely delicious with a local flavor. The staff were amazingly friendly, especially the kitchen staff who explained the food and talked about local attractions. The onsen was very nice and great to relax in after a long day. It is a bit of a ride from Aomori city proper on a train, but there are also hikes and other things to do in the area!
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff doesn’t speak English but they help themselves with translator so it’s okay. There is private onsen if you have tattoo. Good for sauna (but that’s only in the public bath so no for tattooed people!)

Pros: Excellent attention from the staff. They were very accommodating.
Cons: Upon entering our room smelled a little bit of tobacco and we had to keep the windows open to air it out.

Hakkoda Hotel - Aomori - Building
4
8.7 Excellent (331 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hakkoda Hotel in Aomori, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Hakkoda and Jigoku Pond. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and a 24-hour front desk. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It's Hakkoda, so options are limited, spring, summer or winter Hakkoda Hotel is a great option. They dont have a lot of english, but the staff are helpful and work hard to please. Goolge Translate fills in the gaps. If you are familiar with this area, you will know that entertainment outside the hotels is limited and so are food options. the Hakkoda hotel, gives you a choice of French or Japanese evening meal, and likewise for breakfast. We decided we could not eat all their set meals, and the staff were happy to accommodate and do toast and eggs for breakfast.
Cons: If you are staying here in the winter, and want to access the ropeway. Expect long delays, an Hour wait for the cable car is normal these days. Remember also that if the wind gets up (above 45kph), they close for the day, this means you need consider what you will do on those mandatory days off. Last thing to remember, the road is closed between 8:00pm and 8:00 am through the winter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner was superb and the breakfast too!! Never expected to find such good chef and food in a resort in the midst of the mountains. Definitely worth the price paid for!!
Cons: Everything was great!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staffs, food and the onsen water.
Cons: The dinner was a bit rushed.
7.5 Good
Pros: The service staff is awesome. The room is big and comfortable. The amenities in the room is good. The onsen experience at Sukayu was wonderful. The water is excellent, and the changing rooms are well thought-out for the women's section so it doesn't feel awkward as you get to the mixed bath. We went twice in a day, and were fortunate to have a traditional song performance right at the mixed bath. Wonderful experience.
Cons: The dinner was mediocre. Breakfast is close to awful - we had the american as well as the traditional selection. The meals is big part of Japanese hospitality and the expectation, and it was disappointing. We've stayed at different hotels and ryokans and have had better food and experience. The wing at A block where we stayed was far from reception. We went on to stay at other onsen places after this, and it was much more memorable than the stay here, in terms of food, scenery, and onsen experience. Not worth the price paid.
