This Hotel, far from the city of Aachen is in the middle of nowhere or "bushes" if you wish. Unless you have to, never visit there. If you have to; You'd better watch out! An obsessive-compulsive staff is ready there to punish you, abuse you and "over-charge" you. Aachen is although not a cosmopolitan but a real culture and conference city. The conference I attended had more than 2000 participants and obviouly this a real load for any city let alone this one. Hence there is a shortage, hence some opportunists ready to abuse this fact. This is far more the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I am budget traveller engineer and I found this "Hotel"(!) as the last possible option. The room I visited was modified out of an ex-service area or a larger regular room. The price paid is far more than the supplied performance and service. The bed was in between a window and a wardrope and you have to chose one of them to use, no space! There is more labyrinth like corridors than the actual room, out of the ergonomy of any kind and I am pretty sure the German code would never allow it to be used as a 3 star hotel room per se -ein ersatz Hotel! (Das Schloss)
Apparently, because I do not use my cell phone during my travels. I could not be reached before I was there, and someone decided to "PUNISH" me by charging an extra ammount of 126euro via my credit card. I trusted booking.com site and its users for more than nine years. Not a single problem so far. During the check-out the lady asked me "for four nights, yes?"and I answered naively "yes, of course". I paid my real due of 286euro for 4 nights by another card. When I realised the extra charge, I rushed to the hotel and experience a rather rude treatment that by another lady "Call, why don't you call "(!) I don't have to call you or have to read your messages. You promised a check-in untill 23:00 and I was there at 21:45 sharp. Later on, I asked for the help of booking.com customer service. They seemed to intervene and the hotel turned with a promise of "re-charge". I supplied a valid IBAN number and swiftcode and they persistently claimed that they could not re-charge(!) and asked for my credit card number, exp. date and -lo and behold- CCV number! Really? I sent all these data but this time, learning from my mistake, for a one way electronic card attached to this card. In the end, no real "re-charge" had been done. I re-iterate and re-re-iterate (Der Prozess). They send a scan of the "transaction slip" but no Money officially has been transfered at all, and then NO response at all. Probably, the Hotel thought "see, you deserve our punishment! How dare you do not call us and then even deny our punishment" and even more probably I am just the "n+1"th customer they charged some extra as a "punishment"(!) You might even out-smart booking.com services I guess. Now, an extra charge of 126 Euro surely would not make me any POORER, but much more attentive.
Good breakfast, good restaurant.
Babies are charged for the stay
Poor value for money, doesn’t offer 3 star hotel standards such as minibar, and safe in room. Reception not occupied most of time, cannot get a coffee in the morning, sauna didn’t heat 2 days ina row, phone in room broken, strange old furniture in room, corridor smelled and large black stains on carpet, no wake up calls, etc., in short not what comparable 3 stars hotel have offered so far for same or lower price
Location just outside Aachen bus stop right outside hotel, loads parking, receptionist very nice and helpful, manager owner very welcoming, well run hotel ,bus straight to city
A member of staff think she was a Women chef (cook) really miserable and abrupt, rest of staff excellent,
