It’s a lovely quiet house. Clean. The manager is very friendly. Breakfast is superb. And there are homemade cookies or cakes for you to help yourself to when you get back after a long day out. It’s close to the centre. Good value all round.

Nothing, little out of the way for centre of York (15 minutes walk) but that said a nice small selection of cafes and restaurants nearby.

Ashley Guest House has free Wi-Fi throughout, and is in an excellent location, just minutes from the city walls. It is half way between York city centre and the racecourse. Lovingly restored in 2006, this Victorian end of terrace house offers bright and clean rooms with modern amenities and antique touches. Three rooms are en suite with big showers, while one room has a cast iron, roll top bath. Its close proximity to town makes Ashley Guest House an ideal base for exploring all of York's attractions.
