It was an excellent vacation overall. So many choices to choose from. You can build your day very easy and relaxing or can get as busy with so many activities as you wish.
The VIP Level at the Palace was extraordinarily good! Food was fantastic! Loved every second!
- Friendliness of Staff - Quality of Food at the buffets - Excellent snorkeling and swimming with turtles
- A la carte restaurants - Spring breakers - way too many loud and obnoxious spring breakers here - avoid March and April!
The food was pretty good. The staff were nice.
The inability to get reservations at a reasonable time, especially when your friends would tell you there were many empty tables.
The facilities are awesome. Great Beach, Bars, Restaurants, and Pools. Kids had a blast.
The staff at the front desk and premium desk were horrible. Not friendly and not helpful at all. For such a nice, luxury hotel this is unacceptable. We also experienced unhappy staff at some of the outdoor bars and of all people the girl handing out the towels. If you don't get a dinner reservation which at times is difficult even though the restaurants are never full (funny because you try to book a reservation at a prime time, the staff says they are completely booked), you have to suffer through the awful dinner buffet. The entire management staff at this hotel should be fired or retrained on how to be helpful and polite.
The Barceló Maya Palace is a stunning resort situated in Riviera Maya, Mexico. With an incredible backdrop of white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, the hotel offers visitors unrivaled views of the gorgeous Caribbean.
This five-star luxury hotel has six different room variations for vacationers to choose from. The base rooms are the Junior Suite, which offers visitors breathtaking views of the on-site tropical gardens. The Junior Suites host up to five guests and come with amenities like a rain shower, minibar, and coffee maker. The top, premier rooms are the Premium Level Seafront Presidential Suites. These suites measure almost 2,000 square feet and have the best views in the resort thanks to their third-floor location. These rooms come with additional amenities like a hydromassage tub, a pillow menu, and a complimentary bottle of tequila for guests staying over four days,
Those staying at The Barceló will feel like they never have to leave. The resort has six different restaurants for diners to choose from. Visitors can enjoy the food here through vouchers they receive upon check-in base based on how long they will be staying. Each voucher is worth a meal at one of the restaurants. Many of the items available are shared across all six restaurants, so it is more a matter of location. Some of the more popular offerings here are the tiger prawns over jasmine rice, seafood stew, escargot, and even sushi platters.
Because of its location, The Barceló is extremely popular for both honeymoons and weddings. Those looking to say their vows on the sandy beaches of the Caribbean can work with the resort to handle everything from decorating to catering. If newlyweds just want to spend their honeymoon here, there are many options for that as well.

While it is possible to take public transport from the airport to the Barceló Maya Palace resort, it is not the quickest way to get to your accommodation as the buses make several stops along the way. The most convenient option is to book a taxi or a minivan bus transfer with a reputable company. You will be driven straight to the resort which takes about an hour, with the fare for two persons starting from around 1,100 MXN (about 65 USD) for a one-way trip.
If you are looking for a fun activity the whole family will enjoy, head to the Strikers Sports Bar & Bowling Center where you will be able to play a round or two of bowling or compete in video games. It is open 24h a day, with a restaurant serving buffet food or snacks depending on the time of the day. Alternatively, head outside for a game of giant chess, which will combine fun with a learning experience for the kids.
Guests looking to stay active during their stay will find a lot of sports activities to choose from. If you are after a fitness class, you can join the pool aerobics sessions at the Tropical Pool. If you’re looking for a group activity, you can play a game of water polo, a game of basketball, volleyball or football. For something a bit more laid back, you can opt for a fishing trip.
The Barceló Maya Palace resort has two theaters on site where you can watch entertaining shows with fantastic dance exhibitions and an orchestra playing live music. There’s a new show every night, the showing starts at 9:30 pm, and all shows are kid-friendly.
If you need medical attention while on holiday, head to the Medical Station located at the resort at the Colonial Plaza. A doctor is available 24h a day, and you can get basic medical and first aid care for a fee. For any issues that can’t be treated on site, an ambulance is available to transfer patients to the Hospiten service hospital at Playa Del Carmen.
If you are in the mood to shop while staying at the Barceló Maya Palace resort, head to the Maya Mall, the resort’s leisure center, where you will find luxury store B-Fashion. In this fashion store you will find swimwear and clothes on offer from well-known labels such as Lacoste, Desigual and Armani Jeans. For something a little more local, head to Plaza Mexicana Culture & Handcraft, which offers locally crafted products from all 32 Mexican Republic states. (Prices checked 05/05/19).
