Enough space in the room, kind staffs, clean amenities. Great hostel.
A little far from central station but possible to walk.
Good location, easy to find, i booked a mixed dorm, but we were only women in the room, which was great! Room was quiet and bed was comfy. Shower was clean and modern. A good breakfast is included in price and you can also have a buffet lunch/dinner for only 7 euros.
You have to pay a membership fee 3,5 eur/night for the youth hostels association at the check-in. Not a good surprise for budget travelers, and it was not mentioned during the booking. There is no wifi and no aircon in the room. There was a lot of dust under beds. There is no laundry in the hostel, but you can use a public laundry located 15 min walk away, for only 3,5 euros.
We liked the location and breakfast. It is very close to the main old city and parking was no problem.
Staff can be a little more friendly and less ordering us around. A chair more in a room would be handy. We sat on the floor or on the bed.
The location and price can’t be beat. There is coffee and cake in the afternoon offered for free. But these items taste like they’re free. I still appreciated them being offered. The breakfast in the morning it’s quite nice. The outlets at each bed to plug in your phone and the personal lamp at each bed was a great touch. The location into the city is perfect. Easy to walk to!
The staff member who checked us in was quite unhelpful and offputting. At check in we asked about parking. The staff member said they have none and you must find it yourself. Directly after me came 2 young German girls and asked the same parking question in German and got a different answer, which was a suggestion of two different parking places they could look for parking at. In addition the same girls also were informed that there is free cake and coffee in the lobby. None of which was shared with my party. FYI you must be a youth hostel card holder to stay here. If you are not, expect to register for an annual membership fee on your arrival. I did not have this on my arrival and the staff was fairly Abrasive telling me I must have it to stay there. Luckily there was another staff member aside from the one that was checking us in that just suggested we could fill out the forms and pay 30€ and join. The first person checking us in gave us no alternate options other than saying we must have it and if we didn’t we couldn’t stay there ! :/ as if we should figure out the next step ourselves, instead of offering an easy solution.
It was the last room available in Würzburg, I am normally stay in high end hotels. Price I paid was for 4 pax, because it was a 4pax room, upon arrival they said if I would have called they could charge me for just one. Booking.com did not do the right thing here therefore the lowest rating for that part. Nevertheless it should be rated as a hostel and for that it would have served the purpose. I can imagine that hostel pax love it: For its location is great and relatively cheap when one pays per person and it is a nice meeting spot for young people.
