Pros: Reception staff were really excellent. Rooms were cleaned unobtrusively and the cleaners replenished consumables in a generous way, daily. Convenience of having food and drink available until late (unlike many restaurants in Whitby.)

Cons: View from window was dreadful, plus there was scaffolding in front of our window complete with singing scaffolder! Toilet cistern made noises during the night which sounded like mini flushes. We did alert staff, but it started again the night after.

Pros: Very comfortable but a maze inside. Good views from lots of windows and a good layout meant you were unlikely to disturb anyone in ajoining rooms

Pros: Excellent location in the middle of Whitby. Very friendly staff and the breakfast was absolutely superb - beautifully grilled and very generous. I like the character of the building.

Cons: My only quibble would be that the back of the TV, which I had to inspect to switch it on initially, had not seen a duster for a long time - though the rest of the room was clean. I would also have liked a bath rather than just a shower but I don't know whether a room with a bath was available when I booked.

Pros: Lovely staff big great breakfast although served with black pepper when didn’t ask for and can’t have so had to get re done but no bother to staff refilled tea and coffee. Room lovely was upgraded to one with jacuzzi bath without having to ask them but view was overlooking restaurant roof area with seagulls and whatnot so had to keep window shut

Pros: Rooms really lovely. Comfortable and spacious. I would stay there again. Staff friendly and helpful. Good value for money. Good variety of cooked breakfasts. Personally would have preferred more healthy cold options for breakfast but that is not a criticism.

Cons: The rooms were small, the beds were thin and small double size. The shower was small and very low water pressure. The floor outside the kitchen and down the stairs was greasy and two of our party nearly slipped.

Cons: We stayed in a room up about 4 flights of stairs.....I suffer with asthma so it was difficult for me. Orange juice ran out at breakfast. Thought three room was over priced for what it was.

Pros: The other staff were lovely, and the owner/manager was fine as long as you weren't questioning. The location is great, and allowing dogs is a nice touch. The actual shower and toilet, bed, were very clean. Breakfast wasnt rushed and service was good.

Cons: Customer service - I was very confused about the pre-authorisation of money as they had already done the same on my card, holding a £1 to make sure the card was legit. Four days before out stay, the entire payment was held, which somewhat negates the 'pay on the day' policy despite it being in the small print. I had asked if, had I paid on card, I would still have to wait for the pre authorisation release as I needed to budget, but they never emailed back. On arrival, the waitress who showed us to the room was lovely. The room was in the attic with many staircases, some safer than others, which we knew. We also knew it would be a petite room. However, there was a mini staircase between the room door and the actual attic space, which had no lighting or proper rail, and which I was unable to climb upright as the eaves were so low (I am 5ft11). Not only this, but the side bannister was falling off - the screws were loose. In short, it was a death trap. The room itself was pretty but suffered from flaking paint, dirty windows in the bathroom, eaves so low you couldn't properly use the sink, and a single very small radiator, the heat of which didn't reach the back alcove where the bed was. It was impossible to walk down the sides of the double bed, you had to climb due to the low eaves. I banged my head off everything as you can imagine! Only one side of the bed had a bedside table, meaning only one lamp and one wall plug. The side I slept on was freezing cold as this wall was the outside roofing of the house. It was an cold night and I couldn't get warm. I went downstairs to ask for an extra blanket and the owner (I think) did get me one but seemed annoyed. He said it was the warmest room in the house - it is an attic in an incredibly old building with very little in the way if mod cons - it cant be. A thin wooden cover leads directly into the rest of the loft space, filled with junk.

Pros: The food was absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere in an olde world character restaurant, very classy.

Cons: We like the quirky layout ... but bed was just a bit hard and uncomfortable for us. That said, it was very clean and we’d definitely stay again.

Pros: Breakfast was great . Dinner was marred by a very noisy group of raucous males who were so loud that they drowned everyone else's conversation . A pity they were not in a private room as they rather ruined the evening . Food was fine ! Bedrooms very attractive and tastefully modernised , Comfortable bed and everything spotlessly clean . Very nice fluffy towels but why only bath towels and no hand towels ?

Cons: The en suite bathroom is totally unsuitable for anyone who is not very agile , Climbing into the bath to get a shower is a no-no for some of us ! Nice sanitary wear of whatever the expression is but everything all too close to together and as for the window which affords the people in the houses opposite a beautiful view of naked bodies ; there is a blind you can lower but why not some frosted glass in the window ? In our room , over the kitchen we 'enjoyed ' the continuous sound of the extractor fan and some choice cooking smells when we opened the far window in the bedroom .

Cons: Didn’t not like anything but observations. No car parking but what do you expect at an old coaching inn. Wouldn’t suit those with mobility issues. No lift. Old steep staircase

Pros: We upgraded on arrival as the room was unsuitable post knee op. The staff were lovely and gave us a cottage it was perfect.

Cons: We originally had the attic bedroom in the eaves, it was up a lot of steps definitely should have had a warning on booking that it wasn’t suitable for anybody not fit and healthy

Pros: Friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. They even provided us with a fan to help cool our room.The view of the sea from our room was amazing. Plenty of choice at breakfast. The bacon was fab. Tea, coffee facilities provided in room,always a nice touch.

Cons: The bed was hard but staff provided a mattress topper which made it much better. The bathroom flooring looked like it needed replacing. Stained but probably from bleach but not a good look.
