Great location in a quiet street, just 2 minutes' walk from Stephansplatz - one of only half a dozen hotels that are quite so central; superior rooms are large and comfortable
Almost half the rooms have no exterior view, with some looking onto a dreary, full-height (5 storey) concrete-walled light well, so curtains really need to remain closed 24/7 - ask to be moved if you are allocated one of these (and hope that an exterior room is available); whatever it says on booking.com, there are no double beds anywhere in the hotel (I asked), only two singles, made up with single sheets and duvets, pushed together, and not very stably so either - the mattresses drift apart in the night, leaving an awkward gap; the eclectic décor won’t be to everyone’s taste - bedrooms with relatively modern furniture but chandelier-type ceiling and bedside lights, for example; bedroom curtains are unlined and let through a lot of daylight; bathrooms vary but, in mine, the shower was so small that it was impossible to open or close the cubicle door inwards whilst in there (and I’m relatively slim); at breakfast, both hot and cold buffets were more limited than I would expect of a large, city centre hotel at this price point, and the orange juice was pasteurised, not fresh
No Airco Bathroom to small No refrigerator
I loved the stay there, exactly in the middle of the old town, the room was small but really comfy, I could make an early check-in with no problems, very very clean (bathroom, towels and sheets are always a fear for me) as expected for a hotel like this. The staff was really friendly and happy to help me with everything making sure details were easily handled and covered. I’m sure if I had any more issues they would’ve helped me but I only stayed one night and in concrete the help was needed for: - early check-in - soft boiling an egg for me at breakfast - luggage storage for the day after checking-out Not something I disliked, but I think the breakfast could’ve been better quality, it felt a little cheap. There were a variety of hams and jams (no sugar options included), müsli and dried fruit, cheeses and tomato, cucumber, sausages and scrambled eggs, also raw eggs and boiling water to cook them right there; a couple different breads and the such (not very tasty). I could find in a corner some fruit that wasn’t really inviting to be served and the pastries could definitely be better too, given the place (Vienna) being so popular for them. Being very finicky, the coffee wasn’t amazing quality either. There were also a variety of teas and sparkling water and juice (not sure if natural) to customize a mimosa. All in all, wide variety of things but not as tasty as they looked. Overall very happy with the experience and would come back again, but maybe not including the breakfast.
Location and staff are great.
Location is great but not worth the money. No coffe machine or kettle in the room and most rooms don't have a view. Wifi is good when you have signal. I had it in tje hall but not in the bedroom.
The location is fantastic since the hotel is located in the middle of the Old City, 1 minute walk from Stephansplatz, yet in a quiet street without the crowd. The breakfast was good quality and the staff operating the breakfast area were highly professional and courteous.
- We had booked 2 rooms, 1 Superior room for my wife and I and 1 Standard room for our 2 daughters. The air conditioning system in our Superior room made a very annoying and disturbing noise every 30 seconds. We asked to change rooms when we went our for dinner. The lady at reception was very helpful and assured us that it will be done by her late-shift colleague when we would get back after dinner. When we got back the lady at the reception was much less accommodating and rather arrogant, questioning the problem and allocating us a Standard room instead of a Superior room which we refused of course. She then gave us a Superior room on another floor (so away from our children's room which we had asked to be on same floor). - Neither the Standard nor the Superior rooms had a mini-bar nor complimentary bottles of water, which is a given in any 4-star hotel I have been to. - The water pressure of the shower was very poor. - There was no "Do Not Disturb/Please Make Room" signs to be hung on door knob from outside - The tissue box in the Superior room's bathroom was empty - when we checked out the lady at the reception did not ask if we had a nice stay, which is the least a reception staff should ask a guest upon their check-out !!
