10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything excelent. I really recommend ir
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Good staff and good location. Dorm for our self !
Cons: The noise of the fan !
7.5 Good
Pros: Good Price/quality ratio. Very nice people working there! Not too far from center and beach, rooms have everything u need.
Cons: Not the cleanest hostel and town but all good for chill travellers :)
4.0 Okay
Pros: The beds were ok.
Cons: I stayed for one night at this hostel and I can NOT recommend it at all. Here is what I experienced: It is quite run-down, what would have not been a problem if the owner would have been a nice human, but from my experience, he is not. I wanted to dry my clothes after swimming in the ocean-what is besides eating, drinking and diving the only thing you can do in Taganga and also the reason why I came here- and put them on the ropes for drying clothes, which are everywhere in the outside area of the hostel(I already did that the evening before and then it was not a problem). The owner came to me and said, "You can't do that, it's only for the lavandaria of the hostel". So I said, "Fine, but where can I dry my towel and bathing suit then?" He told me, that "it's not his problem and that there is no place in the hostel for it". When I told him, that this for me is bad service, he told me to leave the hostel. Before that his behaviour already made me feel not really welcome. When I arrived another male guest arrived at the same time. The owner only spoke to him and served him first and treated me, as if I was invincible. I just did not feel any kind of appreciation or respect and therefore felt not welcome at the hostel.
Hotel Casa D'mer Taganga - Taganga - Bedroom

9.1 Excellent (312 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Casa D'mer in Santa Marta, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Taganga Beach and Grande Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: This place was a nice and cozy place. It is located very close to a beach, stores, and the bus terminal. The staff was very nice and kind also.
Cons: No air conditions, though 2 fans we had in the room did do the job for us to be comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful owners. Very close to the Main Street of Taganga. All in all a good place to stay
Cons: There is anything to complain about
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I have been there a few days before Christmas. The town was quite full. Colombian party quite loud. The hotel is a little bit outside of the party area (just a few minutes), which I really liked as I could sleep well. Miguel and Wilmar were very nice and helpful. They speak English and Spanish.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet place, near to beach & restaurants, the pool after the beach
Cons: None
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Taganga in itself was not nice at all for us, BUT the hostel really really made a difference. We got robbed (with a knife and everything) so our phones, money, bankcard were all gone. Meanwhile my boyfriend also had heavy food poisoning. The owner of the hostel was really so nice, he did everything he could to help us and to make it as comfortable as possible for us. Also the breakfast was the best breakfast we had in entire Colombia. We staid as super expensive chique locations too, and these could not tip the breakfast at Hotel Casa D'mer Taganga. The pancakes in particular were just perfect (especially compared to the fried/scrambled egg at every other place, which get's a bit boring after a while)!
Cons: The hostel itself is just perfect, nothing negative to say. It was one of the best hostels we've staid at. Yet, Taganga for us was just not so nice since we got robbed. When we were at the police station we met another girl who was also robbed and also had two friends who were robbed (in the middle of the street and nobody helped them, I guess people are scared themselves - which I can't really blame them for). So overall, Taganga is nice but for us it was not worth it, if you go there then be carefull where you go to. DO NOT go to the beaches at the left side of Taganga because that's one of the most dangerous and pore areas of Santa Marta so not safe at all!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great little hotel. The breakfast is delicious and the staff really nice and helpfull. Also the location is great and close to the beach! Stay there!
Cons: Everything was perfect!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and warm staff, very attentive and professional. I enjoyed the stay at Hotel Casa D'mer, the room was very clean and it was a very good deal for the price! I would definitely stay here again!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice people, super location, clean, good breakfast
Cons: The humming from the ac outside part. But they’re gonna fix it.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and facilities. We got a cheaper room without a view that was just fine. The pool and restaurant have incredible views. Felt quiet and safe. Best place we stayed in Colombia.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff, the view, the pool and the jacuzzi
Cons: My mum is 75 and she found the lack of lift difficult at times - in the rain and when it was hot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best hotel we stayed in during our round trip of Colombia. Beautiful and and peaceful surroundings and staff was very kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend this to anyone staying in the area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with a beautiful pool overlooking Taganga beach. I had a standard room with a small safe to storage valuables. I’m an American traveling alone and felt safe at all times. A really nice place to stay.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nice view.
Cons: Horrible, bugs in the rooms, noise from the beach. This is NOT a English spoken hotell. Do not book this hotell if you don't speak spanish.
6.0 Good
Pros: Good views, good pool and very close to the beach and path to Playa Grande.
Cons: Property a little tired and in need of renovation.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Too basic, outdated, needs to be remodeled
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views and super friendly staff! We got the room with balcony & sea view, well worth it! The staff is really helpful, help you with bags and other reservations. If staying in Taganga, this is the best place! Clean, view, comfortable etc.
Cons: Taganga is a party town so during the night you can hear music playing (all hotels will experience this). When we were there it was quite windy, so the white chairs on the roof where moving which woke us up sometimes.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing out of town up on a hill overlooking the sea. But still only 10 mins walk to town. It’s quiet and peaceful. The family are really kind and give the hostel a great atmosphere. The kitchen is well equipped has everything you need. The rooms are great simple nothing fancy but all we needed. They have two nice dogs and a cat. There is an awesome terrace with ping pong and games / places to eat. And hammocks. The pool area is great for a dip after the walk up the hill (which is a little rocky. Not good for a car). Thank you for everything !
Cons: Loved all
7.1 Good
Pros: amazing location, views and facilities
Cons: Staff wasn’t very communicative
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located on a hill with amazing view on the sea and surrounding hills! STUNNING! Having coffee with that view in the morning was a bliss. This is the cleanest hostel I've ever seen. It's cleaned daily including the guest kitchen. Toilet is cleaned few times a day! The owner makes BEST natural juices ever! Pool is very refreshing and CLEAN! No mosquitoes!!! Taganga isn't a very nice place itself so most of the time we spent at the hostel. There is plenty of space for everyone and plenty of things to do. So chilled. This is NOT a party hostel but it's still sociable. Design is very very pretty! Colorful! There are books you can borrow and ping pong table. Plenty of hammocks. You must try the banana-nutella pancakes!!!!:) Highly recommended. The owner doesn't speak english but she is taking classes which we found very impressive. Well done !
Cons: -The way up to get there is a kiiiiiller! - our gate key didn't work! The owner was very UNHAPPY about it and instead of solving the issue she was shouting something in spanish even though she knew we don't speak spanish! She didn't even try the key just kept on saying it is "funciona" like I was a dumbass that doesn't know how to open a door with a key..?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is such a beautiful casa, close to the plaza and with a beautiful garden and chill out space. The staff are all very attentive, friendly and helpful. My Spanish isn't great but we understood each other enough. Bruno the dog is adorable! It's quiet at night and very good value for money. Plus they do good coffee!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner and her family are super nice and helpful. The hostel is located on the hill overlooking the bay and the town. The pool, the chill out areas, the hammocks and the many terraces were really inviting. It has a nice outdoor kitchen and if you don't like to cook yourself they provide very delicious food! Everything was very clean and well equipped. If you don't mind being about 10-15 minutes walking out of town, than there is no better place to stay!
Cons: Just be aware of the steep climb, it might not be suited for suitcases. We didn't have Wi-Fi during our stay but didn't really feel like we needed it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the hostel was perfect. The food, the view, the room (value for money) beautiful hosts that make you feel very at home. One of my favourite stops in Colombia for sure! Anyone who's visiting Taganga must stop off here. 10/10
Cons: The hostel is located on top of a big steep hill... So make sure you have some water. Thee view is exceptional though. Well worth the walk up!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view, the staff, the dog Rocco and the breakfast - everything was amazing. Such a lovely place! The AC room is incredible and worth every cent.
Cons: One night we spent in the non-AC room and it was unbearingly hot - so we slept in the hammocks outside, which was perfectly fine too...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Due to its' remote location it is really quiet and the view over Tanganga Bay is amazing and still the beach and restaurants are only 10 minutes walking away. Our hosts, the dog Rocco and the rooms were really nice and we enjoyed our stay.

3.8 Mediocre
Cons: They charge extra 7$ per night for AC. The bed was uncomfy and we had hairs on the bed. It's really loud at night. You can hear all the noise and music from the beach. Also they charged 30.000 soles for a little bag of laundry!! The stuff is grumpy. And the breakfast is awful. Dry toast and old looking cheese and ham.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Bad
Cons: breakfast

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool with the most beautiful view. Great place.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place, clean, great swimming pools, nice staff! Cheap prices
Cons: Far from the beach
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view from the terrace, plenty of hammocks, 2 pools, good breakfast. Staff is nice but you need to speak Spanish here.
Cons: The last day my coffee was served cold and the eggs had a crazy amount of salt on them.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: there are some cool stuff like hammocks and some. pools but. not worth the headache
Cons: DO NOT BOOK DO NOT BOOK This is why; we booked a 3 bed room but what they didnt write. is that the room itself is birds nest, roof is made of leaves they were spider webs inside and no killa on the beds while the room has only one window that u cannot close we asked to switch to. another room and it had cockroaches inside. the crew does and sais whatever they want for example the cook that was in the kitchen when we asked for breakfast started screamin at us sayin that the other cook got fired so its not her job to cook for us, one of the crew. said that breakfast is till 10am and when we came half an hour before they said its closed and when we asked to talk to the manager the crew said that theyre. not authorized to let us talk to him/her the pools always remain dirty aswell so make urself a favor and think twice before. comin here !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool is great and has a great view. Hammocks in the shade, clean facilities. Everything was great
Cons: The gps coordinates on booking.com are wrong. Spent a while wandering the town with my bags in the heat looking for the place.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The terrace has a great view. It was great to relax in the pool.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay! The room was nice and clean. The hostel is a 5-10 min walk to town. The rooftop swimming pool was amazing and the view was beautiful.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Where do we begin. We had a horrific experience. We got robbed at machete point by two masked men at the beach, told the staff, and they showed zero compassion. They stole our phone, and money. My husband got cut by the machete and needed stitches. We did not feel safe in Taganga , the police did nothing, the police did not care. We needed to leave earlier than our reservation due to safety, but they would not refund us, even given the circumstances. There are 3 WiFi's connections, they gave us the password to the WiFi that DID NOT WORK AT ALL. There was another guest in the lobby who was there when we were talking to the staff about the robbery incident, crying, trying to get a refund and book a new hotel without WiFi. Luckily she was VERY KIND, and spoke both English and Spanish so she translated for us. She told us they told her that they did not want to give us the good WiFi password, I have NO IDEA why! Racist if you ask us. There's no other reason. We booked a double room and got put into a dorm room (although we had it to ourselves, but that's not the point). The location is far from the centre. Staff had their kids swimming in the pool. No hot water in the shower.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice staff, room and facilities Will stay again
Cons: Not the best wifi

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a nice and relaxing place. The view from the terrace is beautiful. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. Also, everything was so clean.
Cons: The noise of other guests until late.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great outdoor spaces and rooftop patio. Decent emails provided in the hostel but you can also cook yourself. Owner also owns Camali hotel in Santa Marta. This is a great new place to stay with rooms surrounding a pool.
Cons: Lack of a pool was a big of a drag but one is now under construction. I think it will make this hostel the best in town.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff, relaxing setting with a nice pool just a short walk away from the main town, good breakfast, spacious room, nice cats :-)
Cons: It was very quiet when we were there which was nice and relaxing but not if you're looking to meet people, although the whole of Taganga itself didn't seem very busy over these few days anyway; it's not a long or strenuous walk to the main town but slightly uphill coming back so there are closer places to stay if you're not up for the c.10 minute walk each way
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place to stay, staff is very kind and helpful l, highly recommended, nice location too
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Realy nice hostel! Close to the village and the beach. Ricardo, Tania and Claudia are super friendly and the food is very good! Me gusta!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location with nice view on the sea.
Cons: Room was not 100% clean, infrastructure is old, old bed, no mosquito net, only fan so rally hot, breakfast is disappointing.

6.7 Good
Pros: The girl at the reception was very nice Good location
Cons: Bed linens were dirty when we arrived, full of dust because of an open window I guess. The girl nicely changed it. The shower was plugged, the water was leaving very slowly leaving all the dirt on the floor. Air conditioning was not working very well
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast. Staff were nice. Pool. Free water.
Cons: The power went down one night so it was a little hot but that’s to be expected sometimes in Sth America.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Oscar was very friendly and helpful. He arranged a tour and gave further tips. Food was delicious and breakfast changed every day. The room was clean and cosy with fan and ac. We had a great stay and funny evenings sitting together.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Oscar was absolutely lovely! From check-in to check-out he was always around to answer questions about the hotel and tours, serve breakfast, water, etc (even when we came in/out at ridiculous times for him to unlock the gate - thank you!!). The room was nice with a huge bed, shower outside if you need a rinse before coming in, and of course the air con was lovely. We were warned a few times by locals that the area wasn’t the safest, but we didn’t have any issues during the week. It’s a small town and essentially a 5-minute walk to anywhere so we were happy staying a little ways from the main beach/restaurants.
Cons: Nothing to mention
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A great place, and Oscar was a great host. Always ready to help, great advice on food, what to visit and his English is really good. Thanks a lot for the good times!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome value for money and friendly local family runs the hostel
Cons: Nothing

8.9 Excellent (239 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Santa Marta, Divanga Hostel is a 3-minute drive from Taganga Beach and 7 minutes from Grande Beach. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel staff was incredibly sweet and attentive. They made me feel welcomed as if I was stepping into my own aunt's house. From inside tips about things to do in town to conversations about ecology and social issues, the people at Divanga were genuinely loving and showed a very special level of care towards their customers. The food was great and they went the extra mile to make sure the dishes were served to personal preferences. Overall a very chill environment and beautiful swimmingpool surrounded by hammocks.
7.9 Good
Pros: The hostel is very small and has a nice pool. Even though the host doesn’t speak English, she is very friendly. The meals are really nice!
Cons: The dorm did have a multiple fans but no air conditioner, which made it very difficult to fall asleep. The upper bed was quite high and difficult to get on.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location close to the main street and Beach. Dorm and bathroom clean and comfortable. The swimming pool area were amazing, delicious food and staff very friendly and helpful ! I definitely recommand it !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I didn't have the breakfast, but all of the food and drinks I had were amazing. Chef didn't mind altering some dishes as I am vegan and wanted a curry! Hostel itself has a beautiful outdoor area, with pool and beautiful trees. Hammocks and chill out areas were super. All staff and volunteers were friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Pool area and rooms were cleaned daily.
Cons: Wifi would cut out sometimes (not for more than 5 minutes) but I believe this to be a Taganga wide problem and not the hostel itself. Was never a problem for long.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great athmosphere. Highly recommended
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Owners were super helpful with any questions I had. Breakfast is included, you can make pancakes and some eggs. Definitely good place for that cheap!
Cons: Beds not the most comfortable, but decent enough for that price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic welcome by the morning receptionist by detailing all the facilities and services included in the stay: free breakfast DIY, free filtered cold water, courtesy cocktail, discounts in their Italian restaurant, storage room, lockers and kitchen. Very good value for a little price. The hostel is guarded 24h and it feels really safe, concerning the thievery reported in other hostels in town. Nice hammocks in the lounge area. 5 minutes walking downhill to the beach.
Cons: Nothing specially remarkable. Showers are integrated in the bathroom, might be unpleasant for others.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: My sister and I made a last minute booking at Villa Mandala Taganga after our previous hostels water stopped working. My sister had food poisoning and the staff at Villa Mandala quickly made us comfortable, offering to go to the pharmacy if we needed anything. The owner Tito and his staff took great care of us both. Couldn’t be happier with them. The room was basic but clean, clean bathroom, air conditioned and cheap. Definitely recommend.
Cons: The only downfall about our stay here was incredibly loud guests (I was told they were long term tenants), on both nights they were up in the common area playing loud music from 10.30pm until 3.30am in the morning. On the second night I went out and asked them to turn it down, which they did, but continued to stay in the common area making more noise until 4.30am. Obviously this happens at some hostels, and we were probably just unlucky to stay here at the same time as them.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: The cleaning ladies were very nice. The hostel is 5 min walking from the beach
Cons: So where do I start ? We booked this hostel because we saw the photos and it looked very nice, we were hoping to have a nice time, relax and enjoy our stay by the beach. Well, it did not go as planned. First, we arrive at the hostel, the owner was there to welcome us and do our check in. He asked my boyfriend (who is french) if he spoke any spanish, he said "a little bit", and then the owner made a comment about how is nice to learn spanish in bed (I am colombian), so yeah, really out of place. Then the owner proposed us to take a room with air conditioning for an additional price. He did not give us any more information so we agreed as it is REALLY hot in the rooms. We got into our room, air conditioning on, again, the owner did not say anything. Next day he comes to tell us that the air conditioning works only from 7pm to 7am and that if we want to have it on the rest of the day we would have to pay an additional fee. After my boyfriend told him that it was out of question because he hadn't warned us, he agreed to leave it on. Also, the owner told us to leave or things in locker rooms for safety. We had a room just for ourselves so it was kind of weird. Then we went out, we locked our room and wen we got back, we asked the guy at the reception to open the door for us (because yes, they don't give you the key). The guy told us that another girl who works at the hostel had taken the keys home with her and then he proceded to open our door with a credit card! When I booked the hostel it said that breakfast was included in the final price. However, they made us pay for our breakfast and I had to complain to get my money back. After the second day, the owner didn't even say hello to us when he saw us, and some other people from the staff were really unfriendly and unwelcoming. I'm sorry, but when you have clients you are expected to be polite and professional. All in all it was really exhausting and disappointing.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice cosy hostel where it is perfect to relax
Cons: It was not super clean. But the room was very cheap so you get what you pay for I guess.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner and her son were very nice and helpful. She pointed out where the road was in better shape so we knew the best way to get to the beach. There was also a corner store right across the street which was super convenient. The rooms were very spacious and the aircon worked really well. And The rooftop lounge was really awesome, such a great place to relax before or after the beach.
Cons: The beds were not the comfiest and it was a bit of a walk to the beach, really only five minutes but the roads are not the nicest.

Pros: TLDR- Superb service, Accommodating, Clean, Good Value; Safe. The house and the views from the rooftop balcony lounge are stunning. Maria was very accommodating from the moment we arrived and set up all the plans for our outing. We just knew we wanted to check out Parque Tayrona. She arranged us discounted rates even though we were gouged everywhere else we visited and told us where to go to for a good swim. She even took us to one of her favorite restaurants the first night we arrived to give us a good sense of the area. Her dogs were very friendly but relaxed; and the food and drinks were pretty good too. I can't show enough gratitude to Maria. She is part of a neighborhood security service that made sure we were safe when we stayed out late in the town. If you're checking out Santa Marta, this is the place to stay on a budget!
Cons: The visit turned out to be wayy too short =(
7.9 Good
Pros: The owner is lovely and goes the extra mile to look after her guests.
Cons: It is a short walk through a more residential area so feels a little further away from the action (but Taganga is very small so not much of an issue)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Maria, the proprietor, is extremely friendly and accommodating. She is a wealth of local knowledge and gives very good advice on local sightseeing trips. She will do her best to help you arrange transportation etc. and help to get you a good price. The hostel is about 10 minutes walk up hill. It is on the edge of the village which makes it quieter than staying in the center - but at the end of a long day it does feel like a long walk.
Cons: The hostel is about 10 minutes walk up hill. Not a big deal but if you have heavy bags or are infirm/ elderly it might be a factor.
